  • I remembered being there, watching us win the bid. Also happy to watch YOG in Singapore, thank you Singapore!

  • @masterchief: *facepalm* your response shows you dun get my point. Nvm.

  • Go team singapore GO. singapore lions is the best in the world.Singapore is small but a big dream!!!!!!

  • i somehow agree. it would be a great speech if he stops pausing and hesitating

  • Well, his analogies doesn't put a lot of colourful paint..and there's no riff either. A gd speech would give the listeners the tools to imagine what the speaker wants u to imagine; and the riffs are there to put in a beautiful rhetoric flourish.

LHL is speaking as a mathematician and not as a lawyer- and there's little doubt a lawyer obviously shd speak betta than a mathematician. After all lawyers nd to convince pple in court and off-court.

  • I only speak truth to power, folks( to those who thumb me down). PM Lee is indeed not an inspiring speaker. You may deny that, but if you put his speech side by side with President Obama, there wud be no denial that PM Lee is not even 10% of what Obama is.

THis is not to say PM Lee is less smarter than Obama is- but more likely Obama is simply being more charismatic than PM Lee and more able to balance his charisma with his policy wonk side. Being a smart politician doesn't mean onli IQ, folks

  • At least Singapore is till achieving right??!....I don't see the point of U talking so much if U did not even contribute to the society, or even the economy.

  • @MasterChief3377425 I think I am contributing to the economy, especially as a taxpayer.

And besides, even in the area of achievement, there's a difference between a ho-hum one and an excellent one. YOG funding estimates ballooned up to almost $300m from less than $100m- and we are the ones who are footing the bill.

If there's less people watching live as a result of poor ticket sales- and less people watching it on TV- then you know it isn't so much of a success than it is of mediocrity.

  • Seriously, don't base by it's mediocrity....judge by how good the YOG is when it all starts from 14 August 2010.....The YOG opening ceremony looks set to be a good one, based by latest video clips aired on Channel 5. In addition, the fireworks display over Marina Bay will be almost the same as in NDP 2010, just that it will be more world-class.....Besides, I can tell you something similar, these sporting events are both Olympic Games, just that one is the adult version, and the other is youth

  • It is anyway an achievement somehow that Singapore claim the rights to host the YOG, you should somehow be proud that the Olympic flame is in Singapore for the first time, and not by all of you guys discriminating it. For some, they dream of Olympic Games coming to Singapore's shores, whereas for the others(especially the younger generations) may be too internet-savvy, that's why they don't even know what is the Olympic Games....If you were in Padang during 'The Final Countdown'......

  • ..........you will surely get what I mean, The Olympic spirit within Singaporeans at Padang on that day, was seriously too noticeable. One thing I know, either you are not interested to participate in this kind of events(that's why you don't even know the rhythm of the excitement that day), or you may think,"Singapore to host the inaugural YOG, can't make it please"...........If for these two weak reasons, I think you should look into getting hyped for YOG, for it's coming very near(appeal).

  • @MasterChief3377425 you have drank the kool-aid provided by the government lah...if you are just carping and repeating on what the govt tells you what they want you to say to critics, then I rest my case.

  • Okay, then in that case, Singapore won't even be developed if not for the government....Dr. Goh Keng Swee is one of them whom help shaped Singapore....U don't even know what you stating about and just keep discriminating about Singapore's ministers....gosh.....what a letdown!

  • ermm? what the hell is youth olympics?

  • The Youth Olympic Games (YOG)are planned to be an international multi-sport event held every four years in staggered summer and winter events complementing the current Olympic Games, and will feature athletes between the ages of 14 and 18.The idea for such an event was envisioned in 2001 by International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge. On July 6, 2007, IOC members at the 119th IOC session in Guatemala City approved the creation of a youth version of the Olympic Games.

  • Go Singapore Go!
