  • Wow. I mean, WOW. What a voice. I am in love

  • Hitting the sustained high-pitched portions are such Uchina sounding. It brings back memories of watching my mom perform Okinawan dancing. Thank you for the memories!

  • Love this song.

  • I understand a lot of Japanese.

It is not needed with a song and singer like this, isnt she so wonderful. I am from New Zealand, and the only other singer I can compare with Rimi san is Hayley Westernra. I love them both.

    Thanks so much for posting.

  • it's a beautiful song even if i don't understand the language. it's beautiful

  • Thanks!

  • Does anyone know the original version?

It's originally from a foreign song although the Japanese version also amazing.

I also heard this song from an TV interlude sung by a blind boy from Europe or S. America....many years ago, he was so good and touching! It wasn't in English either.

    I need to know please....

  • @Inogi339

This song is Japanese song written by Mr. Shokichi Kina, again the great singer & song writer from Okinawa. Rimi san here also from Okinawa. They use special musical code in traditional Okinawa music. And this song have few fravor of Okinawa code and atmosphere.

  • Can you pls explain special musical code? thank you

  • @cliffworks4371

Like other local folk music (scotland, some Asian music), they have unique scale. They have 5 notes in one octab, Do, Mi, Fa, So, Si. It is maybe due to their music instrument...Sanshin (original form of Shamisen)...I maybe wrong. There are some books their music explaining their unique scale and rythm etc.

  • Hi, I understand what you are trying to say,

    it's called a pentatonic (5 note) scale.

    tks

  • @inogi339

You can also check band "BEGIN" they are also from Okinawa and wrote music for Nada sou sou with Ryoko Moriyama(Lyric). Their music has Okinawan taste...no wonder that where they came from.

  • incredible voice :D

  • the lyrics that beokguk wrote must be the english lyrics, cause its definitely not a translation.

btw its such a beautiful song. i want to go back to my homeland!

  • I want to be back in Okinawa where the people are so kind and everyday is paradise. I would trade anything to go back there.

  • beautiful...

  • siempre me gusto la musica japonesa, y esta chica me hizo vibrar al escucharla! realmente exelente...

  • beautiful voice...

  • this is also 花心 by 周华健... omg beautiful <3

  • 他翻的这个歌,大家还都觉得周华键的花心很经典,还以为是他原创的。哎 悲剧。

  • 日本人气短。

  • amo esta canciòn es demasiado hermosa!

  • every time i hear her sing even if i don't really understand, whether it's a sad or light song somehow i can imagine it in the ocean~

  • so beautiful <33

  • Very nice piece.

    夏川 里美

    Natsukawa Rimi

    Okinawan indeed.

Is she the original singer of this piece?

  • I heard the guy wrote this is now a politician. Heh. I think he's also from Okinawa.

  • Politician?

That's why can't judge people in this manner.

  • amaging!

  • Oh well, i see the lyrics written by beokguk. Very nice! The lyrics past so good with the person that this song reminds me. Always searching, never certain where she goes. I hope she will find some day her peace.

  • this song reminds me of someone who loves this song!

  • A river, always winding

    Never certain where it goes

    The river of my life

    Whither only fate does know

  • And fate, she delivers

Like the wind in summer's day

A little closer, a little closer

Til where all the flower bloom

  • Never hold your joy

    Never hold your sadness

    One day your river

    One day your river

Goes where all the flowers bloom

  • thanks for the lyric

  • wow...her voice is so lovely

  • What ever!

  • lol

  • rimi is okinawan but I think spanish philippines has light skin.

  • i`ve seen some of her interview...will its comes from her mouth that her and his family have been visiting his relatives in the philippines!! Cheers

  • Wow, only Filipinos live in the Philippines?

  • You do know they're immigrants there?

  • this is my favorite song. My grandmother used to sing it to me CONSTANTLY so it has deep sentimental meaning to me. But I want to know the detailed meaning of this song. Does anyone know where I can find that? Please let me know if you do. THANK YOU!

  • There is Spanish subtitles in following YouTube; watch?v=9vrcpcuPAPk

There is Spanish explanation infollowing YouTube; watch?v=bQr4zMdouS4

Hayley Westenra is singing English version; watch?v=6M0U_mSNhas

  • This song has never ending power.

  • No doubt!! The best voice for this song!!

  • Best voice for this song (IMO)

  • she's Okinawan

  • You must know something about her that her Dad and Mom must not know, as both of them are Okinawan. There are no Filipinos in their ancestry/heritage.

  • We don't want to hear your bullshitting imagination.

    Rimi is 100% Okinawan!

  • I noticed this singer accidentally on your tube. She has the best vocal in the world. I do not understand Japanese, but some of her song like Nada Soso just makes me feel like crying. No one in the west is comparable. Wish I know Japanese.

  • If Nada Sou Sou makes you feel like crying, then you understand Japanese more than you realize. Nada Sou Sou is a very sad song, about the loss of a loved one (the song writer wrote this song based on the loss of her brother).

  • @JetLiIsGreat 藤山一郎 once mentioned Rimi has the best voice over the past 40 years, back in year 1989.

  • There are more videos of her performing this song. Many of them are even better than this video.

  • @atheismius agreed

  • @JetLiIsGreat if you knew japonese, you would cry more.

  • @JetLiIsGreat actualy i got to know nada sousou at my japanese lesson! It's very hard, but I love it! You should try learning basics, it's quite easy until you get to the kanji! =D

i love her voice! kono uta ga suki!

  • @JetLiIsGreat just listened to Nada sou sou like 2 secs AGO! MY GOSH IS SHE NOT AMAZING?

  • World should know her vocal performances....It is not opera sort of voice but her high tone is just go thru all the way!

  • "her high tone is just go thru all the way!" ..... very well said!!

  • I love the recommendation to "cry," as well as laugh. You get western songs that encourage you to laugh, but very few that see crying as part of a desirable life of the heart.

    Crying is good too.

  • talented okinawan

  • She is a genius.

  • that was beautiful

  • song nice only

  • subarashii koe shiteruyone... sugoi. =]

  • This woman has the most gorgeous voice I have ever heard

  • Nothing more lights the fire of Uchinanchu spirit in me than this song sung by Rimi-san.

  • her voice is just too lovely...My heart is fluttering because of her sweet and clear voice.

  • Every time I watch this video it sends shivers up my spine. Words can't describe the beauty of her voice.

  • her voice is so beautiful!!!!

    thanks for sharing!!!!

  • Genuinely world-class vocalist.

  • Just Beautiful

  • Her voice is so beautiful... sooooo high and clear!!

  • I wanna see Natsukawa Rimi and Shimabukuro Jake at Kouhaku, but I guess thay toke away the video. I think it is the best performance, at the last Kouhaku.

  • Lovely voice.

  • amazing, love rimi
