dont buy it from best buy if u go to crucial.com u save a ton of money i think its something like 20 or 30 dollars more at best buy for a 2g ram card.
why dont u just touch the metal on the case which is what everyone but u does seen as how its bad that ur walking with the fabric close rubbing together so u touching the door knob doesnt do much...
Question from a IT College Student, My Desktop already has two 512 RAM Cards for 1 Gig Operation. Can I replace the two 512 with two 1 Gig RAM Cards and still have everything work properly with better RAM Space my instructor says the motherboard can no tolerate this idea. The new cards will fit does this mean it will work or not???
@ZAPPSOFT if your instructor says it can't handle it, it probably can't. if you google the serial number of the motherboard, you can find out the maximum RAM it can hold. once you find that out, divide that number by the number of RAM slots you have. that's how much RAM you can put into each slot. if there's enough space per slot, go for it. i'm guessing it's a max of 512 mB per slot so you probably can't upgrade. depending on what you do, it may be practical to get a new computer.
@EliasBaase It does have 2 slots for ram, As of right now only one is being used by a 512 MB. I might be able to put another one in the slot next to it to make 1024 MB (1G) I wouldn't think they would put two slots if it wasn't meant to use them both at some point. What I am doing is building a new PC, Using 750 Watts, 2 TB HDD, And the works, But I am using my original Motherboard from this PC. The Ram is really the only thing I am stuck with.
@raymond100100 to release any static charge. a little bit of static shock to the components of your computer can render them useless. usually it doesn't but it can i definitely didn't want to take the chance of breaking my computer.
yeah i just came back to the best buy and it was 79$ cause they said its a old style so it cost more o-o....so im gonna buy it offline if i can find it ;3
@royalknightocean yerp. now it prolly doesn't cost that much. when i got mine it was like 30 dollars total on sale. it's prolly about the same now when not on sale. if you can find a deal somewhere, it'll prolly be like 20 to 25 dollars.
hey uhm i have an acer -looks just like yours- can you link me to a site to buy a 1gb ram stick it allready has 1gb built in but i want to have 2gbs of ram thanks! alsoo another note would it be safe for me to put a geforce 9400 gt in an acer mine allready has geforce 6100 in it ? and by geforce im talking video cards
i just went to office depot and but some kingston ram. if yours is like mine, it can hold 4 gigs of ram so getting another gig of ram shouldn't be that hard. i recommend 3 gigs total or more if you're going to be doing gaming.
i recently put a evga geforce 9600 gso in mine and there's barely enough space in that chasis for it but that's also a very large card. as for the 9400 gt, i looked it up and it should fit fine. it'll prolly cover up the pci slot next to the pcie slot which is what you'll prolly put your new card in. i personally have never used the pci slot.
hope this helps. comment or pm me with your response.
thanks you helped me alot im going to be buying 4 gig's of ram total :] also i think ima upgrade to 9500 DDR3 or DDR2 1 gig im not real sure witch ones better lol im gusing the DDR3 but it only has 512mb instaead of 1gig that the ddr2 has anyway thanks again :]
you think you dont have a good computer but you do i have a gaming pc and i cant do anythink i cant play any games that where for single core and apps like windows 95 stick with that computer it is going to be a god send when people find out muit core processer is a cheap way of processering
that means your graphics card may not be compatible with your operating system or your motherboard. look at the manufacturers website and see if it's compatible with your motherboard. if it is, look at the windows hardware compatibility list. if they're both compatible, seek official help.
that's not bad. if you have vista i recommend getting like half a gig or a whole gig more. if you have xp there's no need to upgrade. if you're comp is slow and you have xp, try getting a better processor. whichever one is lower than average, update it. glad to help.
i'll see what i can do. i'm not upgrading my vieo anytime soon but i can show you where it goes. it might be a while before i can make the video though.
