Ooo... so I'm posting a year later, but I see that you actually did consider the Eye of the World! I don't know if you wound up reading it or not, but if you passed it up because you weren't interested in the first couple pages, I highly recommend revisiting it. It's an amazing series, and although the prologue is very confusing on the first read-through, it is awesome once you have enough context (many thousands of amazing pages later). I guess I'll find out later if you read it or not.

Eye of the World, Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan is my MOST Favorite fantasy epic stories. I started reading the whole series over 10 years ago, and I haven't found anything that compares to it yet. I think that you will enjoy it very much :)

yeah on l4d and l4d2, every campaign is composed of about 5 sections. you can choose which section you want to do before you start the game. there are no save points within these sections.

i myself liked the Earths Children series from Jean M. Auel. if you have ever seen the movie Clan of the Cave Bear, thats her first book. A few book suggestions:

-Matched by Allie Condle. A book about a Dystopia society that's set in the future. The government is similar to the one in the Uglies series (also good books).

-The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart. It's from the 1970's, and it's about the story of Merlin. It's also a series which is good to get in to.

-The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan. A sequel series to the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series with a different set of characters. The events in the books are in Greek Myths.

The First book is especially classic.

It can take a while to get through though them all though.

The author died before he could finish the series.

The guy who's finishing it for him with his notes and stuff is doing a great job though so there's no real noticeable dropoff.
