  • Alright, right off the bat, ~9mins in, propaganda starts getting spewed. Al Qaeda was a front for a faction organized and orchestrated to fight the Russians in the late 80s early 90s. I'm calling bull shit. National Geographic should be ashamed of themselves for their cooperation in the mass spread of disinformation. Simply appalling.

  • islamophobia thats a new one. guess it sounds better than anti-islamism

  • @cole666ify - every intelligent and educated citizen has a phobia when it comes to the totalitarian, fascist ideology, islam.

  • MB didnt kill sadat >>>> its an oooold story and discussion ...

we do not use violence at all

  • There is no such thing as "Islamophobia." The threat of this religion to the safety and security of the civilized world is a very, very real one. Anyone who is apprehensive about the role of Islam in the modern world has very clear, tangible reasons to be. Just ask your English friends about Muslims in their country if you doubt this. People say the media is promoting "Islamophobia." Lol. If anything, the media ardently DEFENDS Islam. That's where your word "Islamophobia" came from.

  • @TheIsraeliGeneral2 That's exactly how apartheid South Africa used to justifies itself. Many Zionists justify Israel the same way.

  • @FolkeBernadotte2

And where is South Africa now? Tell me, what happened to them? :) They used to be the richest and most developed country on the continent, comparable to Europe, when the whites rules it. Now, crime and HIV are spreading rapidly, everything is in total decay and downfall. So in my eyes Apartheid was a good idea. Most blacks are not able to run a country, that's it. Same goes for radical muslims.

  • we're all afraid of what we don't understand. People are not islamaphobic because they hate muslims, people are just being human.

  • Muslim Brotherhood .

  • Allah hu Akbar

  • The Islamic brotherrhood is dangerous. Anyone who has read Sayid Qtub would know that.

  • @Tripo1iSamson Most members of the Muslim brotherhood today don't follow most of Sayid Qtub's ideas. Especially those that he wrote while being tortured in prison.

  • @FolkeBernadotte2 Oh okay, so their advocating Sharia and aggressive forced conversion to Islam is a-okay.

  • @Tripo1iSamson "aggressive forced conversion to Islam" That's never been their way. They ideals the good parts of Islamic history. Like the time when the Jews lived a golden age in Muslim Spain.

  • Isnt it amazing the lengths that NatGeo goes to preserve the Muslim Brotherhood's "peaceful" image. Unreal.

  • 100 years ago, opportunists used Antisemitism to gain political goals. Today's opportunists are using Islamophobia to make money & gain political goals.

  • @Kaifan01

No matter what emotional and patronizing argument you make

ground reality is, Islamic countries have wide spread long term anarchy, instability, violence, poverty, illiteracy and most important than all this lack of any sign of attempt or willingness to get away from these characteristic Islamic features.

instead,Islamic ideology is now infesting relative stable, liberal and prosperous lands to feed on their values and just as did in history they will live trail of devastation.

  • @Kaifan01 'Islamophobia'... Give me a break. I don't know what's worse, the bullshit that is done in the name of Islam,or the fact that those like you won't admit it (the reasons for which I'll leave to the educated reader to deduce). The next time I hear of another 'honor killing',perpetuation of ignorance in Islamic schools, or the Burka (a.k.a. 'beekeeper suit'), all in North America no less,I'll try to remember that it's all just a phobia. Here's a word for you,'Islamapologist'.

  • @pillsareyummy Islamophobia is the motive behind the Oslo attack of July 2011. In other words it's a threat to everyone & not to Muslims alone. We're not at war between east against west, or Islam against Christianity. The real war is between extremists of all kinds against innocent people of all kinds.

  • @ "The real war is between extremists of all kinds against innocent people of all kinds."

Yes,the sad thing is that too few Muslims acknowledge that their religion has some rather large problems with it.And the ones that do,like Irshad Manji, are attacked for it by other Muslims. Christianity doesn't have that problem, at least not to the degree that Islam has. And the Muslims that have liberal/progressive views, and discuss them publicly, like Manji and others, have to fear for their lives.

  • @pillsareyummy

While Im sure your heart is in the right place, you make the mistake of using Islam as a monolithic term/idea. The problem is precisely not with Islam per se. Islam is a religious tradition who's interpretation varies from place to place, era to era. To say "Christianity doesnt have that problem" is just another way of saying "There are fewer extremists that call themselves Christian". The distinction might be minor, but crucial, to combat Islamophobia and racism.

  • @MulletKid Yes, the problem is with Islam, or more specifically how it's interpreted by others who have some degree of authority (Imams for example). Christianity had its 'dark times', however secular ideologies (as well as other mores), put the 'reigns' on it. Islam on the other hand is quite different. Islamaphobia is a bullshit term. People have reasons to fear it, in my city of Toronto there have been a few cases of 'honor killings', as well as sleeper terrorist cells (Islamic).

  • @pillsareyummy

Thats what Im saying - the distinction is very important. Its the interpretation, rather than some monolithic imagined entity called "islam". Islamophobia denotes just that - a phobia of all things "Islamic". If the distinction is made, than an attitude will be less hostile and more nuanced (something the world needs). As far as Toronto - thats my city as well.Recent honor killings have been done by fairly irreligious people, and the local Imams all denounced them

  • @MulletKid "...done by fairly irreligious people" That's bullshit. They were done because of their religious beliefs. And Muslims aren't that vocal about these things. However, if a cartoonist makes drawings of the profit Muhammad, they freak out. They need to get their priorities straight. I followed these things closely, I was even dating an 'X' Muslim woman at the time. We both followed these events closely. One family sent their daughter to India to be killed for the same bullshit reasons.

  • @pillsareyummy

you clearly havent been following the events THAT closely, since there was a LOT of outcry in Toronto by the Muslim community about these honour killings, including many statements by Imams and mosques. But some choose to ignore that and tread the old "Muslims arent vocal about their problems line". That is bullshit my friend. And the family in question were not that religious, this is a fact - culture and faith are different things.

  • @MulletKid What 'family in question' are you referring to?There wasn't a lot of public outcry, outside of the Muslim community, where it counts. No, I don't choose to ignore anything, since I can't ignore what I don't hear nor see. Even Irshad Manji states that the Muslim community has to become more vocal about these things OUTSIDE of their own religious circles.Don't play the 'culture and faith' card, religion shapes culture. Which is why Islamic countries are the worst place on Earth to live.

  • @Mu. It's not that people (most anyway) are racist or 'Islamophobic', we're just tired of hearing about honor killings, genital mutilations, terrorist cells in Western countries (like Canada), or having to witness blatant examples of sexism (like the burka). These things offend many in the west, thus leading to a mistrust of Muslims. However, that's not racism, it's being conditioned to relate negative attributes (thus negative emotions) to Islam, which of course creates a distrust of Muslims

  • @pillsareyummy

The crime rate among the Black community is disproportianately higher than the rest. Does that mean you "mistrust" all and "relate negative attitudes" to Black people? If yes, than you're being racist. If not, than please explain the difference between this example and the "mistrust" of Muslims.

  • @MulletKid "...Black community is disproportianately higher than the rest. Does that mean you "mistrust" all and "relate negative attitudes",

You quote mined me with your comment. Not to mention, you completely missed my point. If a group of people are continually paired with negative attributes, then people will begin to mistrust them. That's not racism, that's classical conditioning. And as I said in my other posts, most Muslims are good people, it's the minority that ruins their image.

  • pillsareyum Most Muslims are "peaceful" Muslims. Problem is when a bunch of peaceful Muslims will suddenly decide to plot bombing? 90% of the mosquitoes live in swap are "peaceful" ones, they suck no human blood. But when a human goes near, they go into a blood sucking orgy. Why don't we trust Muslims? Not b/c they are Muslims, it is because built in the Quran, the Hadith and the Sharia is the supreme Muslim duty to convert, subjugate or kill nonbelievers. We know they take those words literally

  • @xactlyme Not all Muslims interpret the teachings in the same way. Like Christianity, they 'cherry pick' the good parts, and conveniently 'forget' the, well... not so good parts.

  • @pillsareyum We've different Muslims just like different Christians. The questions are, "Do we have an Islamic problem today?" "How big is this problem?", "What effects have this problem caused?"

  • @pillsareyum Well said! It's time Muslims seriously look inward and find the root problem there, instead blaming everyone who critique Islam as Islamophobia. Tell you what, the more you deflect and deny and blame others, the more and deeper you will offend the rest of the world. A lot of Muslims are having tough time being distrusted. No Fun! So whom to blame? People get scared sit beside Muslim lady in Burqa - "Any bomb behind it?" With Muslim suicide bombings, it's a natural human reaction.

  • And then finally they came back......they won the election in Egypt, Tunisia. Morocco and .......

  • As long as westerners keep buying Islamophobia, they'll keep fooling around.

  • @Nawas7 there is no such as thing islamophobia.

from the greek word phobus, a phobia is an anxiety not rooted in reality, like claustrophobia or agoraphobia. to have legitimate concerns and opposition to islam as a political ideology is totally rational and rooted in reality. it doesn't mean somebody is crazy. and it doesn't mean hatred of all muslims as people.

i've never heard the word christianityphobia or hinduismphobia. only muslims complain this way. stop playing the victim.

  • @Nawas7 Is difficult not to be islamophobic when they will kill you if u because u are not muslim.

  • @Tom15452 Extremist Christian killed innocents in Oslo. Extremist Jews assassinated the 1st peace mediator in the history of the UN. & extremist Muslims killed innocents in New York & in Saudi Arabia. We're not at war between Islam against Christianity or east against the west. The real war is between extremists of all kinds against innocents of all kinds.

  • @Nawas7 ... extremist jews and christians- 2; extremist muslims-2,341,840... it's not even close. analogy fail.

  • @Nawas7 no such thing as "islamophobia" stop making that word up. Islam is evil and we dont want it. Not because of "were ignorant".

Not to mention muhmaad was a child molester and a murderer.

  • @fargonbastedge Lol "muhmaad" was a child molestor and a murderer? For one you should at least learn to spell a simple name correctly. Secondly regarding your claim.. where is the proof lol? Yes he did for cultural and stratetical reasons marry a very young girl, but what makes you think that he had sex with her pre to puberty? A source perhaps? otherwise stfu lol and try qure your phobia.

  • @drmo92 The Jewish Talmud allows marraige to girls as young as 3 years & 1 day

The Christian bible allows taking young girls as sex slaves (numbers: 31:18)

Islamophobes attack Islam to divert attention from their own evilness & controversies.

  • @Nawas7 I know the word is dear to the West - the liberal ones. Every time I touch the word Islam or Muslim I was slapped Islamophobia. This word is coined by Muslim Brotherhood. It's very effective.

  • This "documentry" has got to be a joke? These muslims and Christian's are parroting the rhetoric of the extreme left in the west; why is there no mention of the fact that the Coptic Christian's are forced to live as Dhimmis? This is just propaganda for the dumbed down masses.

  • why is national geographic doing a hit piece on the egyptian revolution?

i know obama didnt like to see his vassal mubarak overthrown (though he pretended to be) but jesus...

please dont get your journalist henchmen to do hit shows on "muyslim brohterhood' or whatever crap like there is something subversive about people taking power back,,, oh wait there is...for fucking imperialists and their dictator pawns.

  • isreal killed saddat look at mubarak he was scared to get shot, someone call the joker to put a smile on his face now , shame on you national geoshit true the truth or dont post fake information to the world

  • and national geographic is brainwashing ppl. smh

  • @mejus16 I agree this is just a propaganda piece, history tells us that Islam and Christianity cannot live peacefully side by side, due to the dominant nature of Islam.

  • @DemocracyCountsx Muslims can not live peacefully, even with eachother.

  • @IFoundIslam1 Christians cannot live peacefully even with each other. The 30 years war is just one of many proofs.

  • @Nawas7 Obviously you lie. Muzzies are the only people that kill eachother, sunni and shiite. We all know that is true.

  • @Nawas7 2 democratic countries have never ever been at war with each other

  • @SuperSupersuperior I'm not sure what's your point, but it's true. Even Apartheid South Africa, who used to call itself the only democracy in its area, never been at war with other democracy.

  • muslim is bad 2 da world... get them out. my ex was muslim she was a crazyyyy bitch

  • iam egyptian and this is fucken pulshit it's not true national geographic should be shamed ........ 25 of jan revolution is greater than any political party and greater than the Muslim Brotherhood

  • @modyunderscore0 The west didn't learn the lesson form the Iranian revolution & kept supporting dictators like Mubarak. But I'm sure the Egyptians, including the brotherhood, are smarter & won't resort to extremism.

  • I salute the courage of the Egyptian people! My prayers are with you in your struggle for justice, peace, prosperity and DIGNITY. May you inspire other voiceless and oppressed people around the world, especially in the Middle East, to topple tyranny and finally achieve true freedom.

  • @MrThe1messiah Because its politically correct non sense. Try reading their charter if you want to shed light. Just because Mubarak sucked doesnt mean this will turn out better. A reporter was gang rapped at that rally. Non violent? Give it some time you'll see.

  • allah-who-akbar.

i've been living in cairo for 25 years now, the azan gets more ugly every single time.

  • This whole documentary is laughable. National Geographic should be ashamed.
