  • New York. Best example of humanity right there.

  • "The spell is complex, I'll need time to study it"...and yet its 3 words. -_-

  • The Cloisters is an actual place in New York: they're talking about the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

  • You know, Demona claims here that Goliath is hoping to eventually gain the human race's understanding, but I'm not actually sure that's true at all.

He seems throughout the series to protect humanity because gargoyles protect things: it's kind of what they do for the most part. He doesn't care of humanity WANTS to be protected or not, and I don't think acceptance is a long-term goal of his really.

  • the dark side of the series is reality....this is why i love this series....

  • "Remember what happened to Goliath and Lexington? They were hunted like animals because Lexington trusted The Pack."

    "How did you know?"

"If you think I'm wrong, then show--"

"Nononono. How did you know about The Pack?"

  • The Toon Disney logo so clashes with the drama of this series, so superier to the trite Disney productions of the last 3 decades! Thank you Frank Paur and writer Michael Reaves!! Viewers of this might enjoy my hand drawn fantasy videos that I made, THE MAGIC ARROWS, BALDER'S EGG and others on my channel page on you tube! See them before I privatise them on March 7, the day the new channel page design is forced on us all by Google!!

  • i Love This Show ! never even heard of it until my science fiction class :D ! ITS AMAZING !

  • Demona has a good point on humanity.

  • @SpawnRevenge92

She is also ironically the most humanlike gargoyle of them all, considering how willing she is lie, cheat, steal, and use magic and weapons and technology when literally every other gargoyle seems to hardly even understand most of those concepts.

  • @TheBType Very true, very true.

  • B*TCH WAT YOU DO!?!?!?

  • Honestly I feel sad every time I see old pics or vids of World Trade Centre. RIP to the those who died.

  • The music at 4:30... for a dumb second I thought it was the music from the Olympus Coliseum in Kingdom Hearts. @.@

  • @StarlightDreamer12, you're not the only one...

i had to do a double take to make sure i wasn't hearing things.

    lol.

  • goliath is hot haha

  • i finally have seen the twin towers.

  • @silverhishin12 yeah. a very sad image. :-< 3:55 R.I.P.

  • lol, Elisa runs in like it's emergency.

Elisa: ZOMG, GOLIATH! XANATOS WILL BE BACK IN A MONTH!!

Goliath..... Okay. calm your ass down, woman. It's a month, not tomorrow.

  • i feel so bad for brooklyn and lex. they both got betrayed/tricked. lex by humans, and brookyln by one of his former own

  • It's kinda creepy to see the twin towers at 3:53

  • Despite how most people hate Demona, I feel sorry for her. She spent hundreds of years alone with the knowledge her kind is nearly extinct at the hands of humans, and in those centuries watched mankind through its darkest times (the world wars and such) which only fanned her flames of hatred and loneliness...

  • pause at 1:47 hahahahahaah xD

  • All living things have two sides like coins. We have good and evil in us. It's our choices that make one side more than the other. Anyone is capable of doing something good or something evil.

  • Demona Ticks me off! I can't stand her at times! I hate what demona does!

Although there are times when she does come in handy in the future eps so I can't hate her completely...........Yet!

  • 3:58 Even though it's just a cartoon, the twin towers still look majestic and powerful. I remember watching this as a kid and thinking nothing of it. Now it kind of hits me right in the heart watching it again.

  • i love gargoylessssssssssssssss but at 4:19 i can imagine dat da blue part of his wings r him and hes super tiny lol no disrespect its da best show ever as well as auther and da regular show

  • Come on, Demona. We're not all slimeballs.

  • Why doesn't Demona just make some babies and raise them to be blood sucking monsters since the other gargoyles won't be her evil little monsters

  • @HopeIsForAll bc she needs a mate and gargoyles mate for life i guess thats one part of her that will always hope goliath with turn to her side eventually

  • @HopeIsForAll Maybe her immortality rendered her infertile. Or maybe she's never been with another male Gargoyle besides Goliath long enough to even consider having his eggs. Or she only pretended to love Goliath and only really loved that he was one of the strongest Gargoyles in her former clan.

  • For some reason Demona reminds me of the angry version of mystique

  • I always wanted to see the twin towers my self but know they are gone by stupid alkaeda i wish him to fall down

  • As a son once told his father. "New York changes a man" and as the father replied "Son.....you've only been here for one day." XP

  • The twin towers give me chills

  • I love the music swell when the Gargoyles awaken. What amazing music.

The twin tower visual in this episode is eerie.

  • damn humans really do suc

  • do the gargoyles have some kind of spider sense?

  • 90s media was so awesome

  • does anyone else think demona is hot?

  • @Soldierofdoom444 She is. Too bad she's a bloodthirsty maniac.

  • @distortedfuzz All relationships have problems. I'm willing to work on it.

  • @Soldierofdoom444 Her daughter's pretty hot too,,, to bad she didn't get her mamma's hair.

  • "He's be out of jail and back ont he streets in a day." I've never understood this line. If he made bail, while awaiting trial for the crime, yeah. That... doesn;t mean the system doesn;t work. It means you have to wait for a trial date.

  • Comment removed

  • @VicShowZ9 Your defence generally doesn;t ACTUALLY matter. It's if you can proove it or not. In Xanatos's case, they were able to proove things.

As for bail, there's a set ammount, usually, that can be raised as the judge determines. Though sadly the judge sometimes lets personal predjudices get in the way, but that will continue happening as long as humans are involved.

  • @tyrongkojy But that's not how courts work in the US. The burden of proof is on the side of the prosecution. All the defense has to do is to be slick enough to instill a tiny bit of reasonable doubt into a couple jurors (not even all) and the person goes free. If you are poor you get one, overworked public defender to attempt this. Wealthy people on the otherhand can hire an army of lawyers, whole firms, to work on finding ways to conjure up that wee bit of doubt.

  • @VicShowZ9 THat's who I meant had to proove it. And that's why, as far as I'm concerned, one should be allowed only one legal representative. Mkaes it much fairer.

  • @tyrongkojy Yeah, I agree. Personally I think the prosecutor AND the defender should both be appointed advocates, paid by taxes and not out of people's pockets. That way everyone gets the same chances in court regardless of wealth. Justice should not be decided by a dollar sign.

  • @VicShowZ9 Indeed.

  • @tyrongkojy As for the bail, you're right, it's set by the judge. If the judge feels what the person did is so heinous that they should stay in prison during the trial then the judge can set the bail so high it can't be met... by a poor person. For someone with Xanatos's money, the money to build a skyscraper in New York then move a castle from the UK, brick by brick, to the roof, you cannot set bail high enough for him not to meet it.

  • @VicShowZ9 they can set no bail also

  • @H3RMYSTRAPON True true, except Xanatos was arrested for receiving stolen goods. I think you can only be held without bail if it looks like you're a danger to the public safety. I could be completely wrong though.

  • @VicShowZ9 No, you're right.

  • @VicShowZ9 Sure it can! SONew York would have had so much money that they could have STILL had enough to rebuild the Trade Center 100 times over a decade later!

  • @tyrongkojy I think you just said what I said. I said they couldn;t set the bail high enough for him not to be able to meet it, as in high enough for him to NOT go free. If they get the money then that means he would be free. If they set it high enough for him to not go free then they wouldn't get the money.

  • @VicShowZ9 Which means yeah, let him go free. New York just got a FUCKTON of money. It almost makes you want MORE corporate crime amongst each other to occur.

  • Dammit Demona! It figures she goes after the smartest of the three to trick him...

  • @heathrin18 I know! She's a close-minded, manipulative twat. Her name says it all...

  • it must be exhausting to wake up so epic every night...

  • Does their stone awakenings have to be so dramatic??

  • Demona is so evil -_-

  • In my head the story was really different when I was little lol now that im watching it again I cant believe how deep the plot it haha

  • Stick Eliysa in a Nano Suit from Crysis and set her on Demona.

  • 0:23 our justice system sucks

    0:50 our families are shattered

1:12 people killing each other for maybe a few bucks for crack

2:21 Goliath still believes there's hope/ hope never fades

    Great episode with great messages!

  • HOOOO SNAP! O__O What did she just do to Goliath?!

  • I might be one sick puppy, but has anyone ever wondered whether two gargoyles have been caught out having sex when the sun comes up and been turned to stone? That would be one hell of a statue!

  • @radiofiendify that would be hilarious XD

  • 6:44 Goliath's "oh hell no" face

  • That BITCH!

  • Hey Brooklyn? Bring me back to your tower. I'll always be your friend. :(

  • @battleoneliac back off he's mine! O.o .... uhh i mean we can share... <3 brooklyn *purr*

  • Because of a comment I saw I few episodes back, I keep expecting the Statue of Liberty to come to life too. lol

  • @shayelisa But the statue of liberty isn't stone it's copper and its hollow.

  • 3:54 oh the twin towers. Love the 90's so much

  • argggh godfuckingdamnit stop betraying each other stupid gargoyles, this is like number 6. stupid brooklyn.

  • he is not stupid you over grown weasel he diden't know better it was all DEMONA !!!!!!!!!

  • I have a hard time believing someone raised in the age of Scottish Feudalism would lose hope in humanity upon one act of theft and one act of murder. =/

Besides, didn't he notice the police investigating the crime? Not much of that going on back in the day =p

  • @TigerTzu True, but he was young and sheltered within the castle, probably spending his nights training to be a warrior. Not to mention, she was more of trying to show him that humans are no more accepting now then they were back then. He had a renewed, small hope in humans from Elisa, but had experienced enough betrayal from Xanatos, the Scots, the Pack, etc that it was still a weak one. All she had to do was agitate the fractures in it, and it would disintegrate.

  • @TigerTzu You raise a really good point. Compared to what passed for "justice" in those days, the American legal system is downright miraculous. Brooklyn would probably have even been impressed with the NYPD.

  • 00:01 - 01:15 as insane Demona is, she does have a good point abot humanity. and not just in New York, too

  • ooh man Elisa is so cute,so sincere, so smart and soo badass!!! is it possible that a woman like her exist in this fucking world??

  • it's funny, most of these cartoons are fairly anti humanist, i wonder why? humans destroy the environment this, humans enslave that. what are they trying to sell us here? i say, make up your own mind, and do as the show suggests. maybe there's another, better paradigm.

  • the chalk outlining looks like Gumbie. Demona Killed HIM!

  • day time is boaring i'm skiping to dawn lol

  • I want to see the Gargoyles comics animated.

  • This was in a kids show?

my god this stuff is deep

  • Comment removed

  • Demona should have rented a WWII doc to show Brooklyn how humans are evil

  • @Tacom4ster Agreed right there.

  • "They can't share their own homes without fighting, and you think they will share their world with us?" One of the most beautiful phrases I have ever heard.

  • I always hated Demona. She's so blinded by anger and hate she can't even see all the faults in herself and all the mistakes she's made.

  • @Nariathemoon but it's good that she sees all the disgusting attributes in humans beings. Racism, murder, sexism, homophobia, rape, selfishness, equating success as the ultimate determinant of good and even "hot" a person is. I have a long list of woes about my own kind and my side of the argument is too broad and academic for a place like youtube.

  • @Nariathemoon And the problems thats happened to her and her clan is her fault.

  • @Nariathemoon Buuuut that's what makes her such a good villian, and also makes her so complex.

  • @Nariathemoon She's a narcissist, racist, serial killer, and quite possibly a crazy stalker ex-wife.

  • @ztslovebird So, so true. And holy crap, my comment is the highest rated on this video? That's kinda' awesome. Either way, I've always disliked Demona. =x=;

  • @Nariathemoon well she is right.... we make war with each other for oil! we let african children die cause they don't have money! We kill each other for money and lust! That's the truth! maybe not everybody is like that but even so the one's they are not like that don't do any thing to stop what is happening! human have potential but we use it with the wrong way!

  • @XxXEllin4s I never even once implied that Demona wasn't right but she goes about what she's doing the wrong way. Of course humans are ruining the world. And humanity could very well have the ability to stop things and fix the world but I highly doubt that'll happen.

  • @XxXEllin4s :)

  • @XxXEllin4s Unless you're saying we're ALL evil, then Demona is dead wrong. Or are you telling me you're siding with a genocidal psychopath?

  • @Ares99999 many of us are evil so she is like 70% correct! but then think about god he has done this "genocide" once for the same reason so why not siding with the psyco???? :P

  • @Nariathemoon

But quite honnestly, who amongst humans are able to see their own flaws and mistakes? Only the fewest can and even less can admit them. We are so full of our own moral and rightousness that we surpress and ignore our darker nature, pretending to be better than we are. What she says about mankind is the truth.

  • @Nariathemoon We are quick to judge others before we are able to judge ourselves

  • LOL! Take your time, I'll have to study the spell... 20 seconds later he returns with Goliath, lol.

  • You know, I do believe that Demona almost choked on her words when she said that Elisa was the exception to the rule. She HATES her.

  • demona is hot... for a cartoon gargoyle

  • 3:54 makes me want to cry -_-,

  • Demona reminds me alot of Mystique off x-men

  • On some real ish...Demona was right about humanity...holding each others lives with no worth

  • After I finish this series, I'm totally searching up some Thundercats!

  • Demona was always sooooooo awesome, even though she's evil, she is still so kick ass.

  • O, M, G are those two towers i see at 3:57 the TWIN TOWERS? man, this cartoon sure is old, but i prefer it to those you see now on tv!! it's so much more intense than that garbadge >:|

  • The whole quote is "The Exception that proves the rule wrong."

  • She says so many true things, man...Humanity can't trust itself, let alone trust the Gargoyles. But I believe that the population of good humans out-weighs the bad ones...

  • "Humanity will never trust or accept us."

...Don't you just love how she says that with the creepiest little "hehe, isn't it great?" kind of smile?

  • did anyone else notice that, that body that they drew around was very square???

  • "Xanatos has been defeated" STFU Goliath lol obviously she's trying to make a point or else she wouldnt keep telling you

  • what Demona shows Brooklyn is only a small portion of humanity, the majority of us are really warm hearted people.... wierd it sounds like i'm talking to an alien.... loll

  • i LOVE Brooklyn's sigh!!! It is soooooooooo EPIC! But is it just me, or does he rarely stand up straight?

  • i LOVE Brooklyn's sigh!!! It is soooooooooo EPIC!

  • I guess New York would destroy anyone's faith in humanity.

  • @xxMachineGunKellyxx And the internet.

  • @xxMachineGunKellyxx

ANY big city can ruin one's faith in humanity. Believe it or not, NYC has IMPROVED in the last 20 years.

  • @xxMachineGunKellyxx True, but there are also good people and good deeds in New York. Demona was simply showing a very select fraction of the truth.

  • @xxMachineGunKellyxx

    do you live in NY?

    i don´t, i´m just curious.

  • @xxMachineGunKellyxx Especially in the early 90s.

  • I love this show but it brings absurdity to a whole new level. A group of medieval gargoyles built a motorcycle. Out of scraps. In a week. Seriously? C'mon. And then the bikers go, "A monster! Get him!" Seriously? Who sees a monster and their first idea is to attack instead of haul ass? So absurd. Oh well, characters are great and story is pretty good for the most part and makes this show worth watching.

  • Man, and Demona didn't even go into human history like the holocaust or current crises like Darfur...

Of course, I'm still with Goliath. He is a remarkably enlightened dude. Since, of course, gargoyles will have to coexist with humanity at some point seeing as there are so few of them. Moreover, just look at the technology in the background. And listen to some of the stories of truly heroic people (Elisa included). Demona's point of view is understandable but lopsided.

  • @TheWanderingCactus

well, with they just got at it, demona probably would have layed dozens of eggs by the end of the last season.

of course, to maximise genetic variation, all the gargoyles should have a go.

  • Is it me, or does dawn come about 15 minutes after dusk?

And, I love Goliath the hero and all that... but he stays on that whole paassive-aggressive spit kinda hard. Humanity/humans doesn't/don't accept humanity/humans. When will he learn? When he's dead... Just ask Sitting Bull if humans can be trusted.

  • The statue of liberty is a gargoyle as well its just under that same wizard's spell. :))))))

  • when does elisa sleep?

  • She looks ugly when she is mad. Stupid Demona.

  • Demona is awesome XD

  • Its nice to see the twin towers

  • it's like batman...

  • fck humanity and yes fuck demona i know i would

  • HAHA nice police chalk drawing! I didn't know gumby was in this show! :D

  • That wife @ 00:49 is crazy 0.o

  • poor goliath...he keeps getting betrayed lol I'd turn emo if everyone keeps betraying me

  • I wonder why Lexington is the only Gargoyle with wings in between his arms and legs rather than on his back.

  • @ztslovebird What about lexington doesn't have a beak...

  • @IKickAss4DaLord Neither do Goliath, Demona, Hudson, Bronx, and Broadway, but there were other gargoyles in the first episode (and in later episodes) with beaks, But Lexington is the only one with wings connecting his arms and legs rather than working independently on his back.

  • demona: *closes book*

    youtube: *closes vid* xD

  • Goliath is so... old-fashioned! The entire "We beat him so he won't be back" - mentality really shows what time they're originally from.

  • how does demona keep finding all of the really horrible stuff without even looking?

  • Demona has some good points, but there is also some good in humanity. Not everything is fighting, and killing. Goliath understands that, but Demona does not. Just as Demona said, there are exceptions. In every case.

  • Goliath get's betrayed by pretty much every character in the series doesn't he? Poor feller.

  • @S2076 Elisa is his strongest ally and her partner came along

  • What Demona showed Brooklyn isn't even half of the terror that we humans are capable of...

  • Oh my god that was me fleeing my house when my parents were fighting, I thought I saw someone in the bushes. It all makes so much sense now

  • Good thing Gargoyles cannot suffer under sleepless nights, eh?

  • nice to see the world trade center again... :) RIP.

  • @marcialim Yeah....

  • since they hatch from eggs they're like reptiles/birds so instead of breast feed they REGURGITATE! THINK ABOUT THAT!

  • @rebeldragon1 Most reptiles forget any ties to their eggs the instant they lay them, so as soon as they hatch they're off and hunting things that they'll eat the rest of their lives.

  • where does demona sleep?

  • @mbs1990 She has a mansion in Gramercy Park, remember?

  • Wow, we suck

  • of all the gargoyles in the manhattan-clan brooklyn looks best

  • You see how young brooklyn is in this ep.

  • Way to go Brooklyn! Your becoming more like Dimona! lureing your leader into traps. Besides, Last you met her she tryed to blow your head off with a Bazooka remember?

  • Does Demona have a violence sense or something? How did she find all these crimes?

  • @DontcallmeFrenchy lol. good point

  • @DontcallmeFrenchy

Bad things can be found everywhere if you only want to see them.

I guess that's what this episode is all about.

If you give in to all the negative things in your life you're no longer able to see the good things.

  • wow, when Brooklyn mentioned Elisa, Demona didn't insult her.

  • wow a dead body, interesting how graphic cartoons were back then

  • @CyndellWarrior

Actually, this is one of the few that was. During the 90s there was a whole backlash against violence in cartoons, and guns tended to be futuristic laser type weapons. Lately though, they've gone back to being more realistic.

  • I noticed
