all kids deserve a chance. it isn't there choice where they grow up or how much their communities property taxes are. this is why there is so much inequality in our country.
Lets get the worst urban school and compare it to the best suburban school so I can prove my false point!!! Screw you oprah for being a manipulative **** and reporting unethically. I'd like you to compare the facilities at Central high school in KC, missouri to the facilities Shawnee Mission East in mission Kansas and tell me who has it better. I can pick and choose what i show all day to you fat pig.
@swimcris You really missed the point Oprah was trying to make. Even then, your argument is still not strong enough to overcome the implications of the original point you were trying to counter
The thing is that funding for the local school district is mostly through property tax. So rich areas will be able to afford better school facilities than poor areas.
What they don't mention is that the parents of the kids in the suburban schools go to work and PAY TAXES for that nice school, while the parents of the city kids collect welfare and sit around watching Oprah all day.
@Trashina That's not true, T. I used to live across the street from Harper. My mom worked 2 jobs to send us to private school. I had friends that attended Harper that wanted to be educated. They also had parents - not just single moms watching The O Show - that were truly dedicated to their child's education as well. My parents paid taxes, as do I but it's not just a tax issue. All children deserve a chance.
I think you are talking about apples and oranges here. I think what he meant was that the nice schools are nice because the parents pay the property tax to spruce up the local schools. You are talking about private school, which is a completely different issue.

@Trashina So no one in the city works or pays taxes or deserves a decent school? What a bigoted ignorant remark.
