Best advice I ever got Record one day & Mix another, You could even record a few songs one day and mix for the rest of the week. Great tips videos like this keep me at your channel
this is one of the best tip videos ive ever watched another tip u shud have went over for newer people to recording and mixing is that over time they develop a certain type of ear were they hear the music differently than other and they can tell what the song lacks or has too much of
@SmallTownUprise Yes, that is very true. The more experience one has the more the can notice. Rookies won't notice much of anything but volume level, probably making for very loud and noisy vocals on top of a low instrumental.
So, I saw your comment on Denace's/Nasty's video, and I kinda thought to myself "Oh alright. A cocky little youtube rapper." But, you actually know what you're talking about. Surprised me, any way. You're a smart guy. Keep doin' what you're doin' :D
Also, what would you say about pitch-depth, I got an extremely high pitched voice, relevant to B-Real or SwizZz, but when i'm in the studio, I get raspy, I deepen my voice, is this normal? Or should I try to calm myself and go with my original voice?
Plus, that Young Buck yelling with passion on a track, is that a way to emphasize the anger, because my recent track " Holla' ( 187 ) " was a very angry track, and I yelled my anger, but people say it's wack 'cause it's not 'realisitic'?
@iAmKupid nah you got it right.pitch depth manipulation is excellent especially when doubling your vocals(dont overdo it)while punching in. changing voices is somethin thats been done since the early 90's. as far as conveying different emotions is concerned there are many ways to do it. record and see if thats the effect you wanted,if you like it keep it, if not record over. if your still not satisfied take a break and come back to it and/or get a"fresh"ear perspective from a fellow MC or friend
When you say take your time; what's your opinion on Jay-Z's one take, no re-do's type thing he's got going?
I'm that way, I can never re-do a track because it loses it's general passion.
And how about quality, in the industry does quality really play a factor such as ProTools, auto-tuned, mixed and mastered down to the nitty-gritty, or can someone such as myself with great passion but only Audacity to record mix and master and edit with, make it aswell?
this will sound stupid but what can i use to record my vocals? i dont have any equipment or anthing and i just want to start uploading videos on youtube for fun. please reply to this :D thanks
Thanks for the tips. I noticed my voice change in a track I recorded where I went back and recorded the last verse the next day. They definitely had a different sound. I needed this video.
This really helped me out , and thank you for that mixing tip cause i always mix as soon as i finish.. and lol i live in slidell so we kno what that boocoo mean lol..
thanks alot my dude. on the realest, you just told me exactly what i've been wanting to hear since i started recording. i definatley have been through what you have stated. how youre voice is not gonna sound the same, how you shouldn't mix right after, how you should second guess yourself... this is the reson why i only have one video up. because the rest of the songs ive recorded arent recorded good. THAT and also because i use audacity and i suck a copressing and mixing. but thanks my dude
thx for the tips, i've been writing and listening to the instrumental at the same time, and when i record sepreatley diffirent days, it changes moods and flow.
damn i think not only are you gonna be big, i can definetly tell that you could be the type to mentor the younger generation. and i can tell you really focused and your mind is like a computer so you just got soo many ideas you just can't write em all down. in this video i can see that you wanna say so much but you can't get it all out at once lol. alot of people say this, but dont let the fame get to ya brain lol. like you said you down to earth, stay true to yourself, keep bangin out them beats
@MissTcal2 Thanks :) That's a great read, because I always feel like I have so much that I want to say to try and help enlighten people on certian topics, but I don't have the time to put it all into words in one youtube video. And you know me, you know I'll never fall to any type of pressure and become something that I'm not.
@BettaWithToast good to hear! it's hard when the fame hits though cuz you got all these people in ur face tellin you how you should dress, how your music should sound, what label to wear, what your music should be about. you already know, pressure is tough when its about money. dont lose yourself in this rap game. you got alot of good things comin to you man and i wish you the best of luck!..you been through alot of shit and now life is rewarding you for bein a 'go-getter'. mad respect for ya xo

They record a 12- 18 song mixtape and expect it to be mixed down within a few days lol
