Over the years I have heard many versions of this tune and hppy to say yours has got to be in the top 5. great control and you make it sing as it should.. from the soul
i have been listening to the ballad of jed all night as i trying to learn it have watched loads of folks trying to play this and you my friend do it real justice, you timing is sweet and steady well done
OMG, I grew up on this. "Here to tell a story 'bout a man named Jed," lol. I used to watch this & play the washboard or spoons during the opening & closing credits, lol. I was an odd child. Yet another great job, TraktoR.
Very nice playing. I like that you are starting slower, and focusing on accuracy first. I've never tried 3 finger playing, only clawhammer. Thanks for posting.
Wow! cool... how long you been playing? You know I grew up listen to this song on the TV when it was a real weekly show. My idols were Glen Campbell and Lester Flatts Earl Scruggs, Johnny Cash, I wanted to play the banjo ever since I seen the movie in the theater in 1973 of "Deliverence" with that boy playing dueling banjos. Listen to the song "The boy who wouldnt Hoe Corn" I think you will like the banjo in that song.
Heheheh just started it this January 2008, but still consider myself a slow-learner :-), I havent seen the movie "deliverence" full, but sure i have seen the dueling banjo part of it on Youtube. I'm working on 'Rocky Top' now, a really tricky song.
I pick up my first banjo in the morning and have my first lesson tomorrow night. I am a lefty and aged 43.
You are my banjo playing inspiration :)
