It's quite confusing but this halo was never released, nor the one b4 this, the one b4 this was mainly on development on mac and graphics were worse like chief looked skinny and weird, it's in the related videos "halo before halo" i'm guessing that was their first work, then they redid a lot and came out with this, but b4 they released it microsoft bought bungie and changed it again and made it for xbox is that right?

@david1991rules4life Yes. This was going to be a free-roaming 3rd person shooter, with a lot of focus on the enviroment (Fully explorable land, like in Oblivion) and plot. But Microsoft bought Bungie and made them change this original Halo into a 1st Person Shooter action game to be their launch title for the Xbox.

@wootlanter It originally wasn't being designed for PC or Macs though. If you go on the Bungie site, it was being designed on the PS2 originally. Microsoft made an offer, Bungie took it. A PC/Mac port wasn't a real idea until Halo was such a huge, instant success. That's why it wasn't released years after the initial Xbox release.

As I understand it, microsoft just came along and hijacked the project, so that they could have a killer app for the xbox. Also, you've got to understand that the xbox is a pentium 3 with a nvidia card, running a windows nt embedded type operating system. The game was developed for windows, and so the game ran on the xbox right away, because the xbox was just a pc.

That said, whats with the end? The marine's ghost is blown up (8:09) and he doesn't die but is found laying on the ground. Then, we hear gunfire and see two elites in crashed banshees at 8:42 (who also didnt die in a crash) before the chief approaches. Am I to assume that the chief blew up the banshees without a rocket, killed the pilots, and took an energy sword all in a literal split second (8:44)? I don't think so. Seems to me like one messy cutting room floor in favor of time constraints

i love this vid, but there's alot wrong with this cutscene. My gripes don't come till the end. I can overlook the rocket warthog, wildlife, smart marines, spectre, chief w/ sword that dont appear in the final game - I view it more as a scene from a movie. BTW, I believe the frag granade that was detonated at 7:49 was a concussion grenade - also not in games but mentioned briefly in the fall of reach book.
