Never thought I'd see a clip of this dad-daughter team. The extra treat is the bonus chorus after the tenor solo (Jay Corre?) not on the Big Swing Face LP. This Shorty Rogers chart translates well in a big band setting. I think it wasn't such a bad pop tune for the mid 60s when you consider all the other commercial crap then.
@hepcat2009 The mid to late 60s, and even early 70s produced some of the best pop music in history. Which songs or artists in particular were you referring to?
@ishredu, that's from the show "Away We Go", episode dated 7/8/67, a summer replacement series directed at the youth market. It came and went very quickly.
buddy rich is amazing. when you hear a good sound quality version of this if you listen carefully the left hand on his snare has amazing speed and fills on the studio version.
was released on Buddy Rich's album Big Swing Face in 1967, pretty soon after the original by Sonny and Cher. The quality of the track on that album is excellent. the Sax kicking in is superb, along with the drum work by Buddy is sheer genius.
i can only suggest soulseek for possible copy, its a beauty, a rythm much akin to much recent things, like certain lionrock, or even bentley rythm ace, stuff etc
REally? Because I know I've tried and nothing came up for it except the Sunny & Cher version or The Whispers version of it. I wanted the original and when I looked they didn't have it.
The Sonny & Cher "version" is the original. Sonny Bono wrote this song back in 1967. Several other artists have covered it, and this was probably one of the first covers of it.
You can get it on the 2 cd set called "a blue note trip" - alot of the music from the blue note hard funk jazz era, which includes awesome bass lines and great drum pieces.

I wish there was a better video so I can see Buddy's face light up when his little girl performs. Oh the pride he must have felt.

Wikipedia says the original is by Sonny and Cher...
This version is slightly more upbeat, to be honest i like a little slower like the original. Thank for the upload!
