  • Grand funk, Captain beyond, Bloodrock : Great bands. Why weren't They big in Europe ?

  • @essertpitay Apparently Europe didn't "get it" at that time....!

  • Saw them in Atlanta in the 70's...Lee Pickens! From Fort Worth, TX. Still classic song on the airwaves then, D.O.A.

  • Killer stuff. Blew me away as a teen. Check out some of my new uploads when you can.

  • Chicago The Aragone Ballroom. Jessica lasted 20 minuets.

Great show, thanks a ton for posting!

    Peace.

  • Do you have more video??????

  • WELL THIS IS JUST GREAT....SAW BLOODROCK SEVERAL TIMES IN SAN ANTONIO TEXAS OPENING ACT FOR MARK FARNER AND GRAN FUNK RAILROAD.......HEMISPHERE ARENA.......UNDER RATED SUPER ROCK BAND AND FROM TEXAS WITH JUST A FLARE OF TEXAS TRUE BLUES.......THANK YOU FOR UPLOAD.......BRINGS BACK GREAT MEMORYS......PS PRICE OF TICKETS WAS JUST 9.00 DOLLARS.......WHERE DID ALL THE GOOD TIMES GO.......THANKS THANKS NUMBER ONE BLOODROCK FAN........CHEERS

  • I lived overseas in 69-71 and played about 50% of Bloodrock's catelog. European audiences loved Americans playing their local venues, and we did lots of Bloodrock, Uriah Heep and Deep Purple. (We weren't your ordinary garage band...so you didn't ask us to play Jumping Jack Flash or Brown Sugar) The most requested songs to repeat were Bloodrock songs, expecially in Luxemburg.

I now live in Plano, Tx, and hope to see the boys playing locally sometime.

  • Good old Texas Rock !!

    SWEET !!!

  • what a video...seems like i saw these guys as the opening act for Trapeze at Armadillo World Headquarters, Austin,Texas. Must have been '73 maybe.....

  • what city was this recorded in. fuckin classic cause u had to sneek your shit in then record without gettin caught guess they were to worried about weed lol

  • man i cant believe this shit, my first concert was bloodrock, c.c.tx 1970 or maybe a yr earlier thanx for that awesome vid

  • My first concert ever.!They opened for Grand Funk, Asbury ParK, N.J. 1971 I still have their 7 albums. Great band that was before their time. They had a pretty dark sound but on the other hand had some very up beat songs like Cool -Aid kid's.The singer did one solo .l.p.and the guitar player had at least one with the Lee Picken's group..Also see Nitzinger.

  • thanks a million for posting this video - one of my fave songs!!! Kick-ass!

  • saw the band in Lafayette, LA way back when and they were incredible...

  • Hey, riptide76. It was a great show in the era when opening acts for big groups were usually pretty good. Next to ELP in '74 and The Stones in '73 the Bloodrock/GFR was one of the best ever and this from a place that had concerts by Hendrix, Joplin, Jethro Tull and Iron Butterfly!

  • Groovy, man. Saw Bloodrock, in AL, as opening act for Grand Funk Railroad in 1970 - "Closer to Home" LP was just out. BR used a UofA Police car for D.O.A.which certainly gave the stoned crowd a rush! Awesome then and still today. Thanks for sharing.

  • Hey, I saw them there too, at the new U of A Coliseum. I came all the way down from Huntsville. Great show.

  • Awesome post. Kudos to Lance98541. I saw Bloodrock live twice, once at the Fillmore East and once, believe it or not in a high school gym (Marist High School, Bayonne N.J.). Great live performers. A fantastic bunch of Texas musicians melding Texas feel with a proto-metal sound. These guys were way ahead of the curve and deserve more credit than they receive from some of the idiot posers around the internet who like to grade bands. Pickens on lead guitar, Hill on organ and Jimbo on vocal. Wow!

  • Totally Awesome man!! I was 13 yrs. old when this came out, went right out and bought the album. Still inspiring after all this time. Great lead guitarist!!! wish I could have seen them back in the day!! HAVE any more video of them?

    Thanks for posting!

  • I saw them at the old Filmore in SF. They were second billing for Free on a four night gig. I never had heard of them before. The organist looked and acted crazy in the best sence of the word, and the guitarist was simply on fire. The whole band was original. Five stars on a bit of my past memory!
