  • "not even ice cream" made me laugh harder then it should have

  • It's very clear to see that DuMont was his comic foil; however, in her later years, DuMont said she "never got the comedy of Marx." She could not understand what was so funny about Marx; however, we understand don't we? "Hold me close, closer, closer. If I hold you any closer, I'll be behind you." Classic stuff.

  • saying ahead of his time would not be correct. the phrase is silly and frankly doesn't make sense. people exist in their own time and what makes a performer special is that they capture a piece of the human experience whether it's through music or humor or art or sport. Timeless was Mr. Marx, ahead of his time no. it is comforting to see individuals of other generations who are such representations of the timeless, tasteful, human being

  • Far ahead of his time.

  • "How happy could be with either of these two, if both of them just went away"

    BAHAHAHA genius!

  • "Before i get married i'm gonna sow a couple of wild oats"

    Classic line.

  • a legend always!

  • I think that the reason Margaret Dumont didn't crack up in every scene is because she really didn't get Groucho's comedic genius. In fact, Charlotte Chandler speaks of this in her book on Groucho.

  • @HeavensHelp1 Bloody brilliant book!

  • @HeavensHelp1 Yeah I read that too. It's a fantastic book! The was never actings, that's how she acts in real life ahahaha

  • This scene has made me laugh until I cry for years now. I swear, one of the sharpest humorists of the past 100 years.

  • @4:23 the one on the left is trying not to crack up.

  • 2:35 - Pardon me while I have a strange interlude....

    Why you couple of baboons!

    EPIC...

  • What you don't uunderstand being alone? Don't give me that innocent stuff or you'll be alone!

  • I don't get his monologues...

  • @foster21 He's satirizing Eugene O'Neill's use of soliloquies and asides used by characters in his plays to reveal their inner thoughts. He had just mentioned O'Neill earlier in this scene.

  • @foster21 that's cause you are a moron!

  • this would be a better world for the children if the parents had to eat the spinach.

  • does any one remember his tv show it was on nbc i think in the early to mid 50's . iit was called you bet your life

  • every since I met you,I've swept you off my feet. LOL!

  • I saw a video once where Grocho borrowed $5 in a train station and by the time he had finished everybody owed him money. I would pay $5 to see that again. Let me know if you are the fan that you think you are.

  • @AbelMagwitch73 Could you be thinking of "Go west" ? Except here he is cunned of all his money thanks to Chico and Harpo. Check: Go west train station scene.

  • I should say you are intruding, I should say you are intruding, sorry I was using the past tense instead of the subjunctive

  • This whole clip is bigamy, too.

  • oh god, THIS is real comedy!!! i hate how much they've dumbed down movies and tv shows today. . . Groucho made it so if you werent clever enough to catch his jokes the first time around, you were just out of luck.

  • He shot her a glance!

  • my dad just said i make jokes like him

  • living with your folks the beginning of the end.

  • Pardon me while I have a strange interlude.....

  • That was awesome.

  • love the pun on bigamy.

  • What happens? Nothing, not even ice cream.

  • One woman and one man was good enough for your Grandmother but who wants to marry your Grandmother? Nobody. Not even your Grandfather.
