Yes, Lauryn was pregnant here. Doo Wop was the first single and Miseducation hadn't dropped yet. Columbia considered dropping her because she got pregnant before the album came out. Well we all know what happened. She had the baby, went on tour, won 5 Grammys and changed hip-hop!!!

I'm not saying she's a bad rapper, and I actually enjoy her rap a lot. I'm just saying I believe singing to be an unreproducible talent, where as there are amature rappers out there everywhere. To me, singing is natural and unique, where as rap is a truely creative art. Nobody can truely reproduce somebody elses voice. However, Lauren Hill is the best of both worlds as she is an amazingly moving singer and an amazingly honest and hard hitting rapper. In other words, she's just phenomenal.
