SoCal offered Schoenberg a place because they didn't know what they had, and they weren't so serious, then. Schoenberg went there because he got a pretty lax position, and liked the climate. But they didn't promote his music. They still don't.

They need to start there - which is where they needed to start *seventy* (70) years ago.
