  • all underneath the altea skin is a vw golf so its bound to be good

  • I LOVE DODGE´S :)

  • That's cool, I was looking for a seat altea, renault modus or fiat idea, seat is more expensive and I won't buy the 140ch but it looks like the best choice

  • seat altea is a smart choise

  • @FendaBass i like american muscle cars but to say the top three companies in the world being dodge ford and chevrolet is retardesd, ford ill give you a bly on as they selll very well internationally and have various top selling cars in diffrent classes, but to not mention bmw or mercedes is an insult to the automobile industry.

  • I have always driven D/C/J cars..and I would rather be in one of these than the european cars..The Caliber is a decent car..it's just that for some reason the reviews for anything OTHER than the european models always seem to get crap marks even when they would fold in a crash..My sister has a renault Clio..rated and marketed as a 5 star safety rating(EURONCAP)..so how on earth did she manage to get out of her renault ALIVE...after she crashed at 30MPH into a Ford Focus(56 plate)WHAT A MESS!!

  • You idiots think that a peace like seat is better than dodge?

dodge is one of the best car companies on this planet, american cars are the best,

ford, dodge, and chevy are the best car companies on the market.

what the crap is a seat?? you would drive that peace of crap for

for three years and it would be falling to pieces!

  • @FendaBass Ah and if you ever came to Spain, the cars over 10 years you'll see will be SEAT Ibiza, SEAT Toledo,... And there are many SEAT cars working since the 1960's... without problems

  • @FendaBass YOU HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CARS, the SEAT Altea is one of the most reliable models on the market according to DEKRA Study (Europe’s most significant test involving the highest number of vehicles)

  • Altea better than the caliber... All the way

  • I love the way Americans think they are better than everyone else.. I love a quote from an american rapper Jay z.."god knows how a government that cannot deliver fresh water to one of its own states within 2 days is trying to win a war...

Besides think you find that most of the important inventions were from British Inventors.

  • @eastwood1963, you are an idiot, everything made in america is better.

america has Ford, dodge, chevrolet, the top three car companies in the world!

have you ever noticed why your stupid companies like seat and fiat aren't in amercia? It is because they are crap. american cars are all over the world because they are good, reliable pieces of machinery.

    Get your facts straight Napolean

  • @FendaBass The Fords sold in the EU are not designed or engineered in the US, but between Germany and UK (UK I'm not sure). Chrysler and Dodge don't sell many cars (in Spain at least) and Chevrolet sold in Europe are complete bullshit (come from Daewoo). So judge by yourself... GM can only sell in Europe by using OPEL and VAUXHALL (engineered in Germany and UK)

  • Yes, you blasted this f... up bastard of A.H. - together with other nations (SU and - how remarkable - other Europeans). See me on my knees every morning praying for US? Thanks for D-Day - but always think about the other wars you were involved, e.g. in Iraq. - Now, your next Post will be something about "Terror"? Saving the World? Mission accomplished? - War was once the right decision. But did you Americans learn? Intellectual evolution? Not in this topic.

    Keep on drumming little gorilla...

  • @superamerica1981:

Yes, yes. Good old Henry. Let's get back to basics: Ever heard from somebody called "Columbus"? Without this guy from Europe you wouldn't even exist - except the natives.

    ;O]

  • 20,000 Euros?!?!?!?!?

That's double the North American cost.

  • desertsoldier22: "...think of all the things you would not have without American technological innovation..."

Who invented cars? Americans? Without "Old Europe" you would still ride on horses...

But in 1674 somewhere in the Netherlands Christiaan Huygens startet something, others followed, developed and finally Carl Benz made an important step in 1886.

All you american car creators really do is "copy and paste".

  • The one whos describing the cars just have to say CAliber=SHIT OF THE SHIT and Altea is a great car (car of the year 2005)

  • sounds like this dumb brit doesnt like america very much...nothing good to say about the caliber...

  • To be honest both cars a rubbish! I had altea and avoid. Sound like massey fergusson.

  • el caliber es lo mejor sin dudas

  • dodge??oh my god!!!run

  • dodge??oh my god!!!!!run

    - Poco equipamiento

Frontal poco aerodinámico, mas ruido y consumo a alta velocidad.

  • Wow, I didn't know they had Dodges in Europe. Does anybody even buy those pieces of crap over there? The interior looks like it's made with Little Tykes brand plastic and they're just plain ugly lol. That Altea is kind of cool looking though; we don't have Seats in the US.

  • We can buy the Caliber here in Belgium, I must say I like it a lot, more than a Focus or Golf, the styling is so much better !

Probably i'm gonna buy one in a few months

  • Who can upload the manual of caliber 2007? Please

  • The Caliber is GREAT, but ONLY with the Volkswagen 2.0 TDI engine. Sonuvabitch pumps 200HP, 0-100 is 7.8 sec.

    Quite sporty.

  • Seat is the Spanish sign of cars with german engines. That video say the truth, American cars are very far from Europe cars.

Usually a SUv is 4X4, and the Dodge caliber is a 2 wheel drive family car, like the Altea.

Moreover, american Diesel engines are not so good than european.

  • Chrysler does not make a diesel engine, both these cars are powered by the same VW 2.0 Chrysler just uses the CRD name instead of TDI. Both cars have different attributes that a buyer will like, however the Seat is European and better tuned for sportiness.

  • I love the caliber !

  • So in conclusion, American cars suck once again.

  • This test could be much more simple, if you wanna look like a soccer mom, get the Seat, if you wanna be a Badass, get the Dodge.

  • plus this comparison is bad because the caliber is a mini-suv not in the altea range.

I maybe doind alot of comments because the caliber is a great car to live with and very well styled and made people just dont get american cars because they look great and really stand out.

  • plus to actually understand and like the calibe rits a good honest car plus its alot better on irish roads than any other car people are just jealous that continental europe cant make good strong cars like dodge since the chrysler/mercedes agreement.

  • Strong cars? My Altea got hit by a friggin 3,5TON van at 70km/h.

You know how much of my car got damaged? Just the trun and rear bumper. If it's weak for you, then show me a really strong car.

PS: The van broke it''s engine :P

  • well 70kmh is about 40-50 mph which really isnt fast plus its good that VW make some parts for dodge like the engine and the same with seat and its good that your car lasted that crash :)

  • my parents have a dodge caliber and prefer t in every way compared to the car they used to have which was a peugeot 307. The caliber is spacious and very quick. It is also very reliable.

  • The Caliber is less spacious than Altea, (and Focus, and Stilo... with more exterior dimensions) the interior is plasticous, and the agility ¿what agility?. I can't understand, how your parents can prefer the Dodge vs the 307.

  • Its more spacious and more rliable than peugeot plus alot better to drive and more comfortable the 307 kept on breaking down after 2 years and alot of electrical problems so we got the caliber which i and my parents like and its a dodge so its great fun to drive and stuff its a good car.

  • Whoever drives the cars through the slalom is good! I rarely ever see anyone drive through slaloms that well. Especially in a crappy Caliber. lol

  • The Altea owns!

    The Caliber sucks!

    Nuff said.

  • Dodge isn't very good, just like any other Chrysler product (well maybe the 300C and Charger). That doesn't mean all american cars are rubbish. Ford and Chevrolet are great brands with great cars and awesome styling.

  • Dodge is america´s worst.

  • I have an Altea 2.0 tdi sport DSG. Its great fun. Leave the rest behind. Dont waste your money on a golf because underneath the shell its a golf anyway. The DSG auto gear box works well and on the motorway pulls and pulls in 6th gear. MPG is fantastic to getting 40 around town and 51 MPG on a long run. Its just fun holds the road well, If you have kids and you want space and perfomance buy one!

  • They both look cheap to me, I'd take the GOLF V over these. Why is the SEAT not available in the US?

  • i have a Seat altea but mine looks ten times better inside i got sports intorior its beautiful and quiet and well made and it is a very safe car it automaticly locks when driving to stop people getting into your car while at junkshions and if you forget to lock it it will automaticly lock after a few minutes. its amazing!! american cars are crap sorry but they are lol

  • an utterly useless comparison of 2 different cars. they really are not in the same category, one a sleek, small hatch and one a sport terrain estate wagon. also they seem to favour the seat, neglecting to mention that the dodge is much larger, which explains it's slalom performance. the 5km/h difference in top speed is trivial and hardly worth mentioning, but the caliber's better 0-100 stat is of merit, but not merited in the video. to save about 4000 euros i'd take the dodge.

  • these 2 cars don't belong at the same category..caliber is a small suv which addresses to the 20-25 years old people..altea is a family van like toyota corolla verso or ford c-max here in europe

  • @BLooDsandman001

    Marihuana or LSD???

  • the europeans just dont like the americans because we made our own country and we own them

  • I am the happy owner if an Seat Altea 2.0 TDI FR (Formula Racing)

    - it is GREAT !!!

  • Altea is the best car of those two .. no question at all! It's fast and has personality. And the Altea is fast fast fast with a lille chip tuning build on it :-)

  • Whoever is thinking in going for the Caliber and likes the Dodges, get the Avenger. I had one last weekend, the interior is still kind of cheap but better than the Caliber's. And the car is so much better, it has blood on it, much more fun, not like the Caliber (noisy and slow). Also, the Avenger is a handsome car, very nice looking. If only they made a better quality interior would be a really nice competitor against the 3 series.

  • An Avenger as nothing to do in the same sentence with the 3 series. They have nothing to do at all. FWD-RWD, american-european, family brand-luxury brand, PRICE, and so on; the list is just so extense.

  • I have just had a Caliber going camping this weekend and it really sucks, equipment is cheap plastic, engine is very lazy on the highway, it is difficult on the curves, and it is not great offroad. A better comparison for the Altea would be a Subaru (e.g. the Forester), that is the level to measure any crossover. The Altea would definitely pass any Safety standards (BTW european standards are stricter than US).

  • BTW, I said Subaru because I thought they were testing the Altea Freetrack, it seems it is just the regular Altea, which it is a nice surprise, the Freetrack must even be better offroad.

  • English Reviewer seems very Bias from the beginning to the end. The Dodge is Bigger and Heavier. Also less expensive. That Seat seemed Tinny looking, it probally would not pass U.S. Safety Standards. Volkswagens tend to have more Problems as they age.

  • Altea is a 5 star car on EuroNCAP, Caliber is only 4.

See for yourself on EuroNCAP site.

  • NHTSA Crash-Test Ratings

    2007 Dodge Caliber

    Front, Passenger's 5 Stars

    Front, Driver's 5 Stars

    Side, Rear Seat 5 Stars

    Side, Front Seat 5 Stars

Do they sell that Chinese Car the "Cherry" in Portugal? Because it did not Pass Strict U.S. Safety Standards and cant be Sold here.

  • No, its not sold here.

  • NHTSA is not valid cause is very easy today for modern cars. Old Kia Carnival obtains 5 stars NHTSA and only 2 in Euroncap test. It's very much hard the Euroncap test. Due this, NHTSA is going to change the tests.

    Europa rules

  • the styling is so much better than the european shit golf's and astra's and others

next year i'm gonna by one

  • What you just said was completely stupid Marc218, lol.

  • And your comments aren't????

Or is it that you bought this piece of crap?

I guess that like 95% of the Americans you cannot even name 10 European countries. Try thinking outside the box for once....

  • Quit being an piece of arrogant Eurotrash. You never even visited our country and you have get all your info off a couple top gear episodes. Everytime you Europeans get into a continental crisis guess who bails you out. Your precious U.N. would not even exist without us. All you get for the Caliber is the crappy SXT Model, we get the SRT-4 which will destroy a Focus ST.

  • Yeah, the SRT-4. And it's still ugly, guzzles as much gas as an SUV and still handles like a cinder block when compared to the Asian and Euro imports.

Quit it with the ignorant American patriotism and see the american vehicles for what they are, crude, out-of-date, cheaply built pieces of crap! Some of them are OK when they're brand new, but give them a year or two and they'll develop more squeaks and rattles than a dog's chew toy.

  • Overlooking all the other remarks; I rest my case....

Quit the blabla about a fucking continental crisis and get back to the desert.. Who said I didn't visit the U.S.?

You need to Google European countries becaus you live in a fake county who thinks its THE place on earth. WAKE UP.

We don't even want any US car; you get them for free overhere when you buy a sixpack Heineken.....

  • I have been to 4 European countries. As far as being a piece of crap, The SRT-4 has a larger displacement version of the motor used in the EVOX. This car also gets 30 mpg! Thank you turbochargers! As far as perpetuating the myth of American stupidity, think of all the things you would not have without American technological innovation. Lets just say...you would not be posting Youtube right now without it.

  • Now I get it; the number 22 in your name is your IQ.....

  • I don't even want to be seen dead in a Dodge or any other American junk on wheels...

Sorry to say but, like food, clothes etc. USA is far behind on Europe...

  • the Dodge Caliber is disgusting. it looks like a very old and large bmw in the from its all boxy looking!! lol the seat is nicer but its design is to safe looks like a rip off of the new pegeout just with a curvy line down the sides.

  • the road is not a race track and who the fuck is gonna buy a seat !

  • Not any dumb american, that's for sure!

  • the seat is fugly.

  • slanted towards Altea which is a VW brand.

DW TV = Deutsche Welle TV - a german channel.

    tells it all.

  • SEAT THE BEST!

  • the Caliber Rocked that Seat looks stupid..Dodge ownz

  • With these kind of "arguments" I wonder... Whos the stupid here?

  • boo caliber!! i want the neon back!!!

  • Cool! I have an Altea FR 2.0 diesel with 170 hp an it would take a 5 ton V12 american car to produce the same amount of power! it's stupid... all american "super"cars are dragsters!!! I apreciate design, performance not a outdated design an stupid engines... just picture a 2007 shelby mustang on a german autobahn... i love Muscle Cars, they're seriouly cool but on a straight line... and if you own a oil company!!!

  • I love the caliber ! =D

  • Maybe he did stereotype Europeans but he has a right to considering all the stereotyping of Americans from Europeans that takes place on this (American made) website. Personally I would buy the Dodge for it's dependability but neither of these cars are great. The Ford Escape and Chevy Equinox are much better, but since they both have V6 engines and gas is about $6.00 a gallon in Europe (ouch!) they wouldn't be popular there.

  • stanbernadino, who need V6 3.4 Litres?

Altea FR 2.0 TFSI 200hp (the same engine as a Golf GTI). Ok, its not a 4x4. For that there is the new Altea Freetrack 4x4 with a 2.0 TFSI with 240hp (an upgrade of that same engine!). And it's 7.2$ per gallon, thats 6€!

  • Because of our environmental regulations, since the engines in the American SUVs are detuned, they'll last longer.

  • Ford Escape 3.0 V6 200hp - 262g/Km of CO2

    Altea Freetrack 2.0 4 cylinder 200hp - 223g/Km of CO2

    US "environmental regulations"??

  • Ya isn't that Altea TFSI or something? In other words turbocharged. Am I wrong or did you just 'forget' to mention that. There's no replacement for displacement.

  • I saw both and can clearly state something about build quality, plastic quality, features, body painting and finishing. I decide to buy an Altea. You on the other hand do not know a thing about the car and say, without any doubt, Caliber is best, and we Europeans this its a 4 feet long battleship. I just love your egocentric way of living... luckily not all the Americans are like you! At least the ones I have as friends...

  • What's really funny, is that nobody in America gives a rat's ass (arse for you Brits) about some peanut "Seat" company. Never even heard of 'em. The Dodge Caliber isn't meant to be a Cadillac, nor a Mercedes. It's an economy ute. Sorry, but your heated latte holder just ain't gonna come standard. Another thing... Europeans are so used to driving microscopic sand flea cars that anything over 4 feet long looks like a battleship to you.

  • OW!! You really stereotyped us Europeans.

Well I live in Portugal (part of Europe, probably like SEAT you never heard before) and I could choose between the Altea and the Caliber.

  • this video is biased, they talked about the eurapean car more. American cars are always the best

  • At 3:50, the Altea with its noisy diesel sounds like a Petrol Lawn Mower, lol :) My opinion, i would have the Caliber cos the Seat is starting to look dated now

  • u are an dumbass. People can't understand that American cars are coming back. Also that 2.0 engine comes from who, Mercedes Benz

  • Wrong. It's a VW unit.

  • Lets not forget Dodge was being managed Mercedes. America had very little say in the production of the Caliber.

  • I drive an Altea for almost 2 years! It is excellent, fun to drive, spcious and looks nice on the road. I love it. :)

  • the american muscle car age are over, the european car rocks (also the japan ones)

  • Being an American myself I have no problem call American cars like the caliber garbage, the really are. My family have a Honda and Toyota. US car maker lets the accountants to run the company, they only make cars that can roll, that's all.

  • USA forever dude...

  • typical us car...only big size and no smartness!

  • Is that the only word the Emglish know is rubbish? Sounds like you are talking about your teeth!

  • american cars are crap indeed. The choise of materials is bad inside and outside and the reliability is even worse..

  • seat is rising up!! i like altea and leon 1 and 2 and toledo1

  • SEAT's are brillant!

  • American cars are rubbish...

  • Caliber is absolutly rubbish.

  • +1 !!!
