No one is being charged with attempted murder. The charges have all been reduced to aggravated battery, a very appropriate defense. If an injustice occurred somewhere else, then you need to address that injustice, not use it as an excuse to get violent criminals out of jail terms. Never the less, I didn't just mention that people should be punished, but that they should be punished equally and fairly. He would have gotten one year, with credit for time served and a parole of 2 additional years, according to his mother.

When the PDF file opens, go to page two. This is Robert Bailey's official statement he reported to the police about that incident. As you can see, even what HE describes is not a beating. He was confronted by one white guy. No beer bottle was cracked over his head.

No one is being charged with attempted murder. The charges have all been reduced to aggravated battery, a very appropriate defense. The kid was knocked unconscious with a cheap shot to the back of the head and was kicked / stomped repeatedly by these guys. That's aggravated battery folks. Suspension is for two people putting their dukes up and FIGHTING. This was a gangbang, with the victim being completely helpless and outnumbered.

I have been following this for many months. I have read first hand witness statements of epole on all sides. I will be glad to discuss it, but don't tell people to do the research and then bring up garbage like that fight or the gotta go incident which are disputed and even the disputed sides don't match much of what is being written and said about it. I am serious. Look more into this. You seem to only know one side, which is reasonable, that is the side that has gotten far more national play.

It is the most balanced version of events I have seen reported in a national setting yet. Thye actually researched. Spoke to real black leaders in the community. And acknowledged the extremely partial and misleading reporting until now. They go into how witness staements (on all "sides", court documents, and testimony by locals) does not add up to what we have been hearing. KUDOS to ABC for stepping up.

And it doesn't really explain why the Fair Barn incident and the Gotta Go incident cannot be compared to the "Jena 6" attack at school, but it is still better than all of the other garbage I have seen. They tried to take the middle road, which is fine by me. But I do agree that someone needs to go into more detail about the witness statements for these incidents.

No conscious. You are right that the politicians and many people weren't fighting for the rights of slaves. But the common enlisted person was. Like any war, you have to convince the commoners it is worth fighting. THAT is why slavery was made an issue. To get people to rally to arms. Preservation of the Union was the goal, but common people didn't care about that. Many of them were fighting to free slaves. The abolition movement was full of white people.

Laaws had already been made, by white people (though I know there were free men of color who worked hard for this as well), to stop the spread of slavery to non-slave states and to halt the Atlantic slave trade. More whites in this country were against slavery than for it (though I recognize that a large number were indifferent as well). Fact still remains that millions of American whites (the majority) are descendants of non-slave-owning people. And of them, many were actively anti-slavery.
