@jimmymac30 You just missed him if you weren't at Godfrey Daniels last Friday. I've seen the man at least a half dozen times over better than 30 years and he just gets better. He'll be at the Sellersville Theater April 2011 and possibly (hopefully!) other venues then. One of the best songwriters and performers ever - bar none.
such a talent, im 29 wish i was there for all his songs.... come back to the lizard lounge buddy!!!! "tounge tied and turned around im footloose with my feet stuck in the ground"
Saw him last Sunday afternoon at Shrewsbury Folk Festival and he was just awesome! Makes playing that guitar look just soooo easy - bastard!! I hate him!
Had the pleasure of hearing Chris performing this at a 'house concert' in Edinburgh last night. Despite a west east atlantic flight he was absoultely brilliant!
Yeah, I'm a cat and even I agree with this. As a more intelligent species, I have no problem with the theory that I descended from humans. I'm a christian cat, but my mom-servant is human and she is an atheist.
i saw this guy play in st louis in 97 the day after graduating army bootcamp. id never heard of him before and i was absolutely blown away. it was pourin rain and everyone was dancin, man that was a good time! i was just walkin around killin time waitin for my plane home and ended up having one of the best times of my life. thanks for that memory chris
I do too. The opening appears to be an E formation moved down fret by fret, but when I play it, it doesn't sound anything like when he does, which I guess isn't surprising.
After a long struggle with alcoholism, this marvelous songwriter and performer is back in full flourish. This song is a great answer to the ID fanatics.
Someone asked earlier, when Smither would play their area. He tours a lot. His schedule is easy to find at his online site. I've seen him play quite a few times over the years. He's an excellent performer.
Such thought provoking, intelligently laid out lyrics; even if you don't agree with them! Clever rhymes and walking picking. Where does this American get his irony from? I've been following Chris for about 10 years now and this is his best work yet. Has anyone got a vid of no love today, I'd love to add that to my playlist?
How can any EDUCATED person not agree with these lyrics? It's not like any serious controversy exists about evolution among biologists or anyone with a half way decent science education.
hey chris. i dont know if you'll see this but you should come out to san francisco soon. i'd bring all my friends and family for sure. cant get enough
Chris is absolutley one of my fgavorite performers!!! I've seen him several times and it's always a treat. I think he's wayyyy underrated as an artist.
awesome video...keep up the greta work!

His picking style is very similar to Doc Watson. I'm sure that's no accident. This kind of music needs to be kept alive.

I don't think he's in standard tuning - probably some form of "open tuning". He gets some really nice voicings, that's for sure.
