@jimmymac30 You just missed him if you weren't at Godfrey Daniels last Friday. I've seen the man at least a half dozen times over better than 30 years and he just gets better. He'll be at the Sellersville Theater April 2011 and possibly (hopefully!) other venues then. One of the best songwriters and performers ever - bar none.

i saw this guy play in st louis in 97 the day after graduating army bootcamp. id never heard of him before and i was absolutely blown away. it was pourin rain and everyone was dancin, man that was a good time! i was just walkin around killin time waitin for my plane home and ended up having one of the best times of my life. thanks for that memory chris

I do too. The opening appears to be an E formation moved down fret by fret, but when I play it, it doesn't sound anything like when he does, which I guess isn't surprising.

I don't think he's in standard tuning - probably some form of "open tuning". He gets some really nice voicings, that's for sure.
