Around this time, NBC hired meteorologist Wally Kinnan in Philadelphia, and brought him to Cleveland in the summer of 1965. NBC's snake logo didn't come out until New Years Day 1959. The network cooled it with the NBC chimes at station breaks in the fall of 58.
I remember reading about the drama that unfolded between NBC and Westinghouse over the Philly and Cleveland channel 3s. I see NBC still hasn't changed their ways, they've now assisted Leno in screwing Conan.
NBC had tried to purchase Channel 3 for some time, and Westinghouse kept saying no. So NBC threatened to pull their affiliation from channel 3 and WBZ Boston unless Westinghouse agreed to trade channel 3 for the Cleveland stations. After the trade was finalized, Westinghouse had filed a complaint with the FCC about NBC's extortion. After 9 years, the FCC ruled in Westinghouse's favor and ordered the swap reversed, with NBC realizing no profit.

Wasn't this during the 9 year period when NBC owned Channel 3?

@johnissoevil I'm still confused about what happened between Westinghouse and NBC and the station swap between Philly and Cleaveland.
