I was sitting in the front row of this panel. The trailer was played 2 times, back to back. The one you are seeing now is the 2nd time. The first time they played it, the crowd was even louder. People freaked and screamed like crazy when they saw the Master. It was AWESOME!!!
It's a reference to the older series. There were a group of beings who came across from the previous universe (which was destroyed) by eliminating their physical bodies and becoming something like Gods.
The Time Lords would have become something like that. Escaping the war and Hell, and moving on to become Gods.
i really do think the first 40 mins of this episode was completeley terrible but further to the end it got a bit more watchable with the time lords returning
Just saw this & I was not impressed. David Tennant is excellent & his acting is touching. I'm grateful to RTD for bringing the doctor back, but his scripts have been up and down & this one is not up. Supporting cast are soggy & unimpressive, The Master is wasted, & his plan is 1) so silly and 2) so badly visualised - I passed the point of caring. The first 3/4 is OK-ish - but the last bit had my Who-loving family wondering if we'll bother to watch the finale... Sorry - but there it is...
The first of the two parter wasn't as strong as an episode usually is but that is usually the pattern. In all other finales of a series of Dr Who, episode 12 has always been weaker than 13. Ep 12 is there to set up the finale so will be a bit weaker. Ep 13 was brilliant so i hope u did watch it.
I think the whole episode was genius, we saw a whole new side to the doctor and it was great, as well as the master thing was awesome . The return of gallefray is a bad idea as the whole basis for new who is that he is the last, but hey I'm not the one writing. I think they're gonna end up going anyway, can't wait for next bit- get a glimpse of rose and jackie when he regenerates poor boy . I sometimes think he is just a little boy .

He showed the dark side that everything has it's time and everything dies but is also the beginning of something new. It was his regeneration that changed how I saw the show, the turning point in what makes Doctor Who different to all other shows. Would have liked him in more eps but still satisfied.

I have to agree with you there, seems a logical step in the way David Tennants Doctor is progressing in his final few appearances as now self proclaimed "Time-Lord Victorious" he's already broken the cardinal rule of the Time Lords by saving the remaining crew of Bowie Base 1 in the "Waters of Mars" episode. So I can see him going the whole hog and restoring Gallifrey (possibly seeing it as the only option to stop the End of Time)

I think you're prob meaning the episode (Turn Left) where Donna met Rose and Rose told Donna in the parallel world that she was gonna die & in a way she kinda did when Donna had to go back and make herself turn left instead of right and she got knocked down by a truck. And also at the end of Journey's End the Doctor wiped all of Donna's memories of him etc.
If you look closely at the ring, its not the same as the fobwatch. its a kind of time lord symbol, because in series 3, "The sound of drums/ the last of the time lords", The masters talking about how he looked into the time vortex as a child. In that sequence, we see time lords in traditional dress. They have these symbols on their chests and on their robes. It's supposed to mean immortality. so, someone, maybe the Rani, found his ring and brought him back. thats my guess.

For all of you wondering about the ring-- Russel T. Davies CONFIRMED that the hand is NOT LUCY SAXON'S HAND.
It was in one interview I have seen several times on YouTube, where the interviewer assumed it was Lucy, and Davies then confirmed that it isn't her who picked up the ring. He was vauge when talking about who really picked it up.
*he also noted that hand is clearly looks to be of someone older than Lucy

I agree with you on that. Im overjoyed that Donna is returning. What happened to her at the end of the last series was tragic. Makes me cry every time I watch her burn-out in that episode. Catherine was amazing in that role. That cheer she got at the ComicCon trailer was well-deserved.
Those finales better be a right mindfuck, please. With the excitement involved I'm hoping for something that exceeds all the finales to date. The Sound of Drums/The Last of the Time Lords is already hard to top, not to mention season 4 finale. I don't look forward to Gallifrey and the Time Lords surviving, though, it would somehow devalue Tenth's mourning and suffering across ALL OF THE NEW SERIES, don't you reckon?
Hate to say it - but it looks loud, overproduced, and just has too many elements in it to possibly be good...
I guess it will serve as the great big, glorious goodbye for Tennant - but these "giant whopping epic" stories have never been all that good in my opinion.
Doctor Who was always much better on the smaller, character driven stories.

Rewinding time one year wouldn't undo the Time War. That's locked. Here's a thought. What if the Time Lords never died? What if a massive perception filter hid them, they let even the Doctor believe they were dead (being wiped from time would mean no legends, and there were legends), and they just sat back and let the Doctor mop up after the Time War?

Jack Harkness is going to appear in this episode. Almost everyone is coming back for the 10th Doctor's final episode! I'm pretty sure it's suppose to take place after the events of CoE. Either way, it's going to be one hell of a last hurrah for David. I can't wait!
Children of Earth took place in September 2009, a few months after Journey's End (June/July 2009) and the special is obviously set in December 2010 (Who is always a year ahead of our time), Planet of the Dead was April 2010.

I don't understand why Children of Earth wasn't set after April 2009 and before Christmas 2010, though... it could have gone with the Whoniverse broadcasting continuity. :P

I think you're prob meaning the episode (Turn Left) where Donna met Rose and Rose told Donna in the parallel world that she was gonna die & in a way she kinda did when Donna had to go back and make herself turn left instead of right and she got knocked down by a truck. And also at the end of Journey's End the Doctor wiped all of Donna's memories of him etc.

If you look closely at the ring, its not the same as the fobwatch. its a kind of time lord symbol, because in series 3, "The sound of drums/ the last of the time lords", The masters talking about how he looked into the time vortex as a child. In that sequence, we see time lords in traditional dress. They have these symbols on their chests and on their robes. It's supposed to mean immortality. so, someone, maybe the Rani, found his ring and brought him back. thats my guess.

Everyone, stop focusing on the master and the other doctors; this ismore important, who IS the hooded figure we see, is this the darkness?
This means that the darkness is a living thing , but who is it? Also haven't we seen the ring before. Isn't it like the pocket watch, what does it do?
Finally, everthing links together, the darkness knocked 4 times, + the master knocks 4 times, so they must be the same!( are they :{ ) please respond, I'm confused!!!

For all of you wondering about the ring-- Russel T. Davies CONFIRMED that the hand is NOT LUCY SAXON'S HAND.
It was in one interview I have seen several times on YouTube, where the interviewer assumed it was Lucy, and Davies then confirmed that it isn't her who picked up the ring. He was vauge when talking about who really picked it up.
*he also noted that hand is clearly looks to be of someone older than Lucy
*also, Lucy was confirmed to be in jail (commentery), so he couldn't anyway.

I agree with you on that. Im overjoyed that Donna is returning. What happened to her at the end of the last series was tragic. Makes me cry every time I watch her burn-out in that episode. Catherine was amazing in that role. That cheer she got at the ComicCon trailer was well-deserved.

Those finales better be a right mindfuck, please. With the excitement involved I'm hoping for something that exceeds all the finales to date. The Sound of Drums/The Last of the Time Lords is already hard to top, not to mention season 4 finale. I don't look forward to Gallifrey and the Time Lords surviving, though, it would somehow devalue Tenth's mourning and suffering across ALL OF THE NEW SERIES, don't you reckon?

Hate to say it - but it looks loud, overproduced, and just has too many elements in it to possibly be good...
I guess it will serve as the great big, glorious goodbye for Tennant - but these "giant whopping epic" stories have never been all that good in my opinion.
Doctor Who was always much better on the smaller, character driven stories.
However - I may be wrong about this ep, and I do hope that I am.
And in any case, Doctor Who is like sex - even when it's bad it's still pretty good.

Rewinding time one year wouldn't undo the Time War. That's locked. Here's a thought. What if the Time Lords never died? What if a massive perception filter hid them, they let even the Doctor believe they were dead (being wiped from time would mean no legends, and there were legends), and they just sat back and let the Doctor mop up after the Time War?

no, the ring that was picked up at the finale of 2007 was by lucy saxon, his "wife" places the ring on her finger and the reason for simm having blonde hair is because the ring his wife put on her finger somehow morphed her into the master.
i knew something was happening in season, four dings on the wasp and the unicorn, and the four on the laptop in s4.
the four knocks in the trailer of the waters of mars and the name of the episode.

Yeh but time reversed and then the master was shot dead, body burnt, wife retrieves the ring, her dna registers with the masters regeneration energy of sorts, the master reforms, launches a satellite to get inside everyones dreams, bobs ur uncle he stumbles upon the doctor, he rips into the time lock retrieves gallifrey, time lords rejoice, the master makes the doctor regenerate somehow, the time lords imprison the master on gallifrey where he wanted to be last time we seen him.

Jack Harkness is going to appear in this episode. Almost everyone is coming back for the 10th Doctor's final episode! I'm pretty sure it's suppose to take place after the events of CoE. Either way, it's going to be one hell of a last hurrah for David. I can't wait!

Children of Earth took place in September 2009, a few months after Journey's End (June/July 2009) and the special is obviously set in December 2010 (Who is always a year ahead of our time), Planet of the Dead was April 2010.
So yes, you're right. :)
I don't understand why Children of Earth wasn't set after April 2009 and before Christmas 2010, though... it could have gone with the Whoniverse broadcasting continuity. :P
