@munsterite3 i think your wrong by saying his intentions were to injure odriscoll or to take him out illegally. umaga and mealamu tried to clear out odriscoll at the ruck but accidentally dumped him on his head they did take it to far and should have been cited or sinbinned but that was it. Im curious to know though you think he would have made a difference?
@SuperJay2cool if you watch the video again you will see that the ball was well clear of the ruck by the time umaga and mealamu caught hold if o'driscoll. they could have let him go but chose to carry out a highly malicious dump which could have broken his neck. the fact that neither mealamu nor umaga were cited was incredible. if you did that out on the street you would do time. whether or not he would have made a difference to the outcome is entriely irrelevant.
@munsterite3 i dont think they knew that the ball had been cleared and just took notice at o'driscoll who was trying to infringe in the ruck in an intense game so they decided to try and tackle him off but he was holding on to someone else so they tipped him on the wrong side and odriscoll landed awkwardly which i don't believe were really their intentions and that happens in big games!!!

I'm English and O'Driscoll, along with Tim Horan, is one of the top 2 centres of all time. I'd say that Guscott, Sella and Bunce are the others to make up the top 5. Umaga is not even in the top10 , and yes i have seen him play...
they are the best 5 centres so far, Guscott walks into that group easily, though O'Driscoll and Horan are the top 2, in what order, is a matter of opinion ...

Good recently won the 6 nations but not as good as new zealand, which makes you think about competition for places, which is alot more fearce for the AB'S then Ireland. BODs not really had anyone pushing him for his place he's a great player he wouldnt of won 100+ caps if he was a new zealander

some of the irish pundits have suggested exactly that. Had he left leinster and played abroad for a couple of years he would have been even better. Suggestion is that if he had gone to france he would not have been injured so much because they mind there top players, and if he had gone south he would have gotten better for the experience

It wasnt just Umaga that lifted Brian, Mealamu lifted the other leg as well so you you cant really spear someone by lifting one leg, you have to lift both,which Umaga did not do. I agree it was reckless from both players but the Tackle from Umaga was not to hurt anyone. Its not nice to have a Dislocated shoulder and i didnt say i would get up either but when the Umaga went to apologise not once but plenty of times, Brian pushed him away and carried on his crying to the media.

O'Driscall showed how good he was in the weekend when Ireland went down to France and that young "lying about being beaten up" Mathieu Bastareaud danced around him. Face it he's not that good people. A grand slam is as common as a sunny day these days, The All Blacks will travel and thrash you all at the end of the year. Your teams are no good at rugby. Umaga is the best.

France do have a very good team, they beat us over here last season...mind you we had no Carter, McCaw or Conrad Smith, plus a few other new players on debut. Come RWC time I think we play them in pool play so we dont have to see them in a 1/4 or semi thank goodness....i dont think I could handle losing to the French in another World Cup again. good luck for the remaining games....just dont lose to the bloody English!
We've been beaten by the all blacks every time we've played them and as a kid I marvelled at them.. Rugby in Ireland was always an eletetist sport but in recent years with it becoming more professional is open to the ordinary bloke on the street... We always died in the last 20 mins v nz.. @munsterite3 i think your wrong by saying his intentions were to injure odriscoll or to take him out illegally. umaga and mealamu tried to clear out odriscoll at the ruck but accidentally dumped him on his head they did take it to far and should have been cited or sinbinned but that was it. Im curious to know though you think he would have made a difference?

@SuperJay2cool if you watch the video again you will see that the ball was well clear of the ruck by the time umaga and mealamu caught hold if o'driscoll. they could have let him go but chose to carry out a highly malicious dump which could have broken his neck. the fact that neither mealamu nor umaga were cited was incredible. if you did that out on the street you would do time. whether or not he would have made a difference to the outcome is entriely irrelevant.

@munsterite3 i dont think they knew that the ball had been cleared and just took notice at o'driscoll who was trying to infringe in the ruck in an intense game so they decided to try and tackle him off but he was holding on to someone else so they tipped him on the wrong side and odriscoll landed awkwardly which i don't believe were really their intentions and that happens in big games!!!

The best player in the world at intercepting a pass by a long way and consitantly pulls Ireland out of sticky situations. He is a natural leader and inspires his team to play. Involved in every Irish attack. Umaga is'nt even a full time 13, there is no comparison. I wouldnt have umaga in my top 5 inside centers.

Good recently won the 6 nations but not as good as new zealand, which makes you think about competition for places, which is alot more fearce for the AB'S then Ireland. BODs not really had anyone pushing him for his place he's a great player he wouldnt of won 100+ caps if he was a new zealander

Suggestion is that if he had gone to france he would not have been injured so much because they mind there top players, and if he had gone south he would have gotten better for the experience

Truly brilliant player that i wish was English, but then he probably wouldn't be the same amazing player.

It wasnt just Umaga that lifted Brian, Mealamu lifted the other leg as well so you you cant really spear someone by lifting one leg, you have to lift both,which Umaga did not do. I agree it was reckless from both players but the Tackle from Umaga was not to hurt anyone. Didn't mean to shock you but if 1983 is your year of birth then you've been on this planet at least ,half the time I have... I went to schools on the north side of Dublin and rugby was never played at these schools circa '60 to ' 70's... Gaelige hurling soccer, no rugby!!
I think what you say might be true of Limerick but not Dublin an with Leinster replacing munster as the power house of Irish rugby my theory might be something you'll just have to accept!!

O'Driscall showed how good he was in the weekend when Ireland went down to France and that young "lying about being beaten up" Mathieu Bastareaud danced around him. Face it he's not that good people. A grand slam is as common as a sunny day these days, The All Blacks will travel and thrash you all at the end of the year. Your teams are no good at rugby. Umaga is the best.

The problem for the French is they don't travel well an could be their downfall.. I know nz beat them in warm up friendlys but after all they're friendlys an French have hit the ground runnin!!

France do have a very good team, they beat us over here last season...mind you we had no Carter, McCaw or Conrad Smith, plus a few other new players on debut. Come RWC time I think we play them in pool play so we dont have to see them in a 1/4 or semi thank goodness....i dont think I could handle losing to the French in another World Cup again. good luck for the remaining games....just dont lose to the bloody English!

We've been beaten by the all blacks every time we've played them and as a kid I marvelled at them.. Rugby in Ireland was always an eletetist sport but in recent years with it becoming more professional is open to the ordinary bloke on the street... We always died in the last 20 mins v nz.. Not any more! Let's see how things go.

that's a load of nonesense.
As to Ireland not making the semi-finals, Rugby is not our national sport, however for 2011 Ireland will underachieve if they don't make the semi-finals and so will New Zealand if they fail to win the world cup.
