i don't see why chop their ears; mutilate an animal..if he's not for "fighting" which is why the horrible trend of chopping ears and tails come from..

@jstfacts4u he isn't part great dane, he's a Dogo which means he is part of the mastiff lines, which, by the way, was not bred for fighting. The ear cropping is for farm dogs so that they don't get dust trapped in their ears or get them hurt by other animals. I agree, a natural looking dog is better, but it's not really mutilation if it serves a working purpose.

@DemonShuriken87 thanks for the info, and i know i'm using terminology that's unsavory, but it really is a simple fact..in a way it's like circumcision.. "in the old days.." well, in the present, hygiene is easy; i'm glad they are not used for fighting, of course, & i know fox-tails can really hurt a dog if they get into their ears, and, if they are not supervised after going into the brush in summer, can b a big problem, still, i'm against altering animals cosmetically, except to stop breeding.

this is a great breed, just funny how the kennel club thinks dogo w/ markings is flawed. Also w/ the ridge back, they say to kill the pups w/ out ridge although the truth is that ridge back w/ out ridge is way healthier than w/ ridges.

Quick Question to Dogo owners, im getting my apartment soon and my girl and i want a dog , im looking forward for a Dogo, but im not sure if being in an apartment will make him want to couse trouble ? im willing to go run with him at least once a day. id appreciate your reply thanks .

@Flesh190316 theyre too Big. u will regret it. unless you are planning on moving into a bigger place after 4 years or so. remember... these Dogs are hunters and curious dog. not as aggressive as Pits. they get really big. and when they grow old... they start stinking... lol

@Flesh190316 in addition. they may cause trouble cuz they bark loud as hell! they are very curious so they will not stop jumping and running around and scratching the door and stuff when they detect something peculiar or if they think its a treat into thier territory...

In a flat: well, any little dog will do...but, even them....love to go out to parks, beach or even a walk round the block! thanks to them we have to exercise daily...to dogs!

I just lost my dogo to cancer. I didn't know he was a dogo I was told he was a Am Staff, a very big one. But I found out what he was when I did research to find another. His

Personality temperament and looks fit the dogo. I'm so glad to know he was part of a special breed I miss him so. I look forward to getting another dogo when time allows. I miss my boy. Thankyou for sharing it brings back so much.
