  • he stoopped playing because when his dad past away was so devasting that he never was the same player

  • Jean-Philippe got on of the best forehand I've ever seen !! But, as already said, he has two majors problems :

    - Waldner. It's hard to ba the best when you live at the same time than the most talented player in the world (at all time)

    - a poor backhand

His footwork is really impressive too and he is able to rotate the top of his body like no one, to take the ball with his forehand.

I'm really impatient to see a new generation of french like him and the other "Mousquetaire" (Chila, Legoût, ...)

  • @DocCouz ma long forhand is more aggressiv and consistency then gatiens

  • mmmmm FUCK YOU

  • 40mm start 2002

  • @padiltimo No it was 2000. 21 up was 2001 The serve rule came in 2002.

  • @padiltimo. No 40mm came in 2000, 21 up came in 2001 & no concealing of serve came in 2002.

  • you are wrong, as you see the sets goes to 21 points, and on the serve they cover the ball, so it`s impossible the ball is 40mm.

  • The game was faster this time, because the ball was smaller. But Gatien is although a very good offensive player.

  • Noooooo, the ball was 40mm here.

  • Is this sped up?

  • @Timmyinc44

That was Gatien speed in the past. He was a major headaches for the chinese

  • very strong top spin forehand, the french power...

  • you should watch ohsangeun and see him kill him

  • Did Gatien use normal mark v rubbers. Is Yasaka Pryde better than Yasaka Mark V? YEAAHH mate

  • no rubber is better than another rubber.

  • who actually won taht match? between oh sang eun and gatien? its obvs that u just put points that gatien but who won?

  • and the same for the kim taek soo match. who won?

  • since he retired, no one in france has become as good as he was! he will remain a legend of French table tennis.

  • He stopped because in 2000-2002, he was injured many times. At the end, he could not play his best game. However, in 2005 he was able to defeat Maze at ECL.

His game is based on speed. During his formation, he works to play the fastest possible. He didn't want to use a real pivot position because he didn't want to open the forehand side to the opponent. So when he pivot, he just move a little his feets but he "twisted" his back.

  • Beautiful just beautiful .Wicked!

  • Why did he stop???

  • @Sandraud injury

  • @Sandraud Is not immortal... The age come ^^

  • speed incredible...

  • Ah, to be a lefty! Pure bliss!

  • impressive gatien

  • Aaah i miss the old Gatien. Many ppl dont know it but he was actuly just ONE match from to win a grandslam of tt. He won the world championship in 93, world cup at 94 and was in final against Waldner in the olympic 92. His prime was rather short but he is truly one of the great European players. Waldner was often a nemesis for Gatien when he went long in tournaments so if it havent been for Waldner then Gatien maybe would have been the greatest...

  • his ability to attack in the backhand off a pivot is amazing

  • that´s a very good video. colud you send me this video please

  • 3:45 !! OWNED

  • This is fantastic footage. Remarkable how he drags past a penhold FOREHAND.

  • Awesome playing by the great lefty. He should just dye his hair to its original colour (he's all grey now!?) and get back into playing.

  • The best lefthand player of the history, he's one of the few players that won to waldner while his best momment

  • The other; Jean-Michel Saive

  • enfin une vrai video sur jean philkiipe gatien lemeilleur de ping francais de tt les temps

  • Good VIdeo, could you send this video to me please ?
