  • I love doing agility with my dog!

  • Obviosly you cannot have a Yorkshire Terrier competing with a Border Collie...thats just unfair!...lol

  • Unlike in this Video, you should NEVER have two dogs doing one obstacle at the same time. They could run into each other or trip and hurt each other!!!!

  • I dont like this video at all. ALL dogs no matter WHAT the breed can do agility!!!!! It doesnt always have to be about how fast it is, or what these losers say what can and cant be an agility dog. As long as you have fun and make a strong bond with your doggie, everything is cool!!!

  • @LovePeaceAgility haha yeah my Dachshund does Agility and Competitive Obedience. He's a beast at it, too!

  • @ssusgirl Oh yes! :)

  • @LovePeaceAgility Then apparently you haven't watched it. He said exactly what you did, "any dog can be a champion"

  • my dog is a shih tzu and he is great at agility

  • General SB's could not do agility, but if you look at the original lines at the monastery where they were oriignally kept, those dogs are much healthier and still retain the original body form which was alot lighter than most if not all other saints

  • What about a boxer cross?? Mine is very lean.

  • Would a Blue lacy Aussie mix be good?

  • what about dachshunds... they have bad backs and hips but if the jumps are low enough... then maybe... i dunno! i think it will be good for my dog, something for her to do, part of enrichment, keeping her occupied, stimulating. can someone help me... i dont want this to end up being a big mistake!

  • @magicalice10 Agility will be lots of fun fun with your dachshund as long as she is healthy now! Check out this video if you need any convincing: Dash Hounds- All Dachshund U-FLI Flyball dream team

  • @magicalice10 Just don't jump them too high or if they are older don't jump them. Mine loves the tunnel tho :)

  • I know what this guy means, we had a agility competition near us (Forget who sponcered it but it was rather small) the winner was a weiner dog bull dog mutt.

Far as larger dogs like saint, I don't think they'll win anything but it's still fun for the dog. They have a clip somewhere on Youtube where someone used a saint, it was kind of funny and the dog seemed to enjoy it.

  • my husky that passed away last year won over 20 agility compititions she was fast and very smart

  • i brought my dog to agility once he was very good for his first time but i dont bring him there anymore so we train at home :)

  • Don't forget terriers! We just started the basics with our Jack Russell puppy.

  • Starting agility after christmas with my lazy pit bull.. here's to hoping it will whip him into shape!

  • @ghettosars hahah same here but shes a pup and i want here to do somthingthan nothing lol

  • Agility is not suitable for flat faced dogs like Pugs because of their tendency to over-heat.

  • my shih tzu has every obstacle down except weave polls and I've been training him for 2 weeks !

  • So am I doing something wrong by running my labrador retriever? He is almost 2 years, very fit, very agile, golden. He loves it and I would hate to take it away from him but if it is doing him harm I no longer wish to continue...

  • @milkisox You are not doing your dog harm! You are making him healthier and happier and building a great bond between you and him.

  • Lol My dog is in agility and its an english chocolate lab, hes not as fast but he focuses really well

  • hey u make a mistake! if your dog has any hip, heart or any kind of problems u shoud not let him breed. u only spread further theese problems. any dog has the natural right to have fun and work along side owner. It's the right thing to do. people are afraid to run , not your dog!

  • I don't agree. I believe it's better for some breeds there health you must NOT do agility. Like a Saint Bernard. It's just bad for there hips, and they don't have a really good heart and stuff.

So not every breed is good for agility!

  • Maybe not competition, but I am willing to bet that a St Bernard and other related breeds may benefit from the excitement and exercise of basic agility training. It never hurts to train your dog, no matter what their health condition, just make sure to take these handicaps into consideration and work around them.

  • I have it about the body of a Saint. I do agree that every dog benefit from some training and it's good for there mental condition. I just believe that with such a heavy dog you can better take another exercise ;) But that's my opinion, I also believe a lot of Saints are happy with this exercise. Better then no exercise at all!

  • all of your videos are really helpful

  • In my experience, Shetland Sheepdogs are the easiest dog to work with. They are a good size, are Herders and naturally favor agility
