Cape Town - Overview

I am a SOUTH AFRICAN (proudly), from Pretoria. I know the history of our country and Cape Town plays a big part (the Mother City). All my life I've seen the pictures, heard the stories about Adderley Street, The Castle, Table Mountain and the Cable Way, penguins, seals,KAAPSE KLOPSE, District Six, Kirstenbosch , Constantia. SO this December, I finally got the chance to visit, only to be TRAMPLED by foreigners. Can a person not enjoy his own country before foreigners ruin the entire experience?

@clifford570 I agree, we need people to come to our country. But if I go to a foreign country, I respect the citizens of that country. I do not behave as if I own the place. I also don't bump into people without appologizing. And I think that there should be limits to the amount of people visiting a place at a time, so that the experience isn't as aggravating. I've never experienced so many tourists in my life, not even at the Eiffel Tower or in Venice.

This is CT for the rich people. But CT has also another dark site. Lots of people are very poor and struggle to survive. Aids is a big problem.

But it is one of the most beautiful places to be, I love the people over there!

This is a bad video; it concentrates entirely on generic themes which fail to distinguish Cape Town from any other city. It's even worse when you consider the fact that plenty of cities exhibit greater natural and urban beauty.

They ought to focus instead on what sets Cape Town and South Africa apart: great white sharks, safari mega fauna, and necklacing.

I went to Aquila Park, which is like 1-2hours away from Cape Town (3-4 hours if you get lost, like we did). I don't recommend it to anyone, it's a waste of time/money.

Cape Town is just as safe as any western city, iv'e been there and i felt perfectly safe it's only certain areas such as the townships that you need to stay away from, i live in Australia and it's no different here, there are lots of rough areas in all the major cities in Australia such as Sydney Melbourne Brisbane Perth Adelaide etc and theres lots of crime robberies shootings burglaries car thefts car jackings assaults rapes murders kidnappings and abductions in those cities aswell.

I just returned from Cape Town last week and it is incredibly beautiful. It has a perfect location next to the sea and Table Mountain. Some parts of the city are extremely weathly (Aston Martin Dealership) and other areas are riddled with poverty.

@JadoreFaireCaca, All countries have more dangerous areas. I am truly sorry for what happened to you, and admit that SA do have high crime rates, especially in Johannesburg. Cape Town is however much less risky. Crime has been decreasing each year for many years, and if you stay out of the dangerous areas, you are no more at risk than in London or New York!
