  • amazing that back then a small flathead v8 was enough to push a 1 ton truck when nowadays you can only get 1 tones with diesels

  • @kreigsmann

Although back then people didn't mind driving a truck at 40 mph with a load and up a hill at a walking pace. lol

  • @mctim64 the good old days of hauling and pulling.

i wish flat head engines were still available to put in trucks today. so simple.

  • i loved to see how valves command work on this engine without chain, just two oposite gears. Nice :)

  • Great video , very helpful.

How much oil do you put on the pistons and rings before fitting into block?

    Robert

  • @retnirps You know it's not realy a mesured amount, just enough to coat the whole thing. Better too much than not enough.

  • are the rod bearings and rods from a 8BA they dont look like floating bearing of the 59 ?

  • @scaringoldladies This is a Truck engine and has seperate bearings like the 8BA but it is a 59A block.

  • i have a 1949 239 ab in a ford custom, the carb the needle valve was sticking so i rebuild the carb now white smoke poors out the exhaust, will run you out of the garage, it doesnt smell like oil or coolint, smells like exhaust, i checked cant find vacum leak,???? i'm using clean gas staight from gas can to a new fuel pump do you have any ideals?? im baffled ,anybody have any ideals,

  • Wonderful video. What year is the engine from?

  • That one was out of a 1947 one ton truck.

  • thats an allfull lot of weight for that cart. nice vid though.

  • It's a very sturdy cart, I build a lot heavier engines on it. :-)

  • I remember removing the tired flathead from my '40 a few years back. Damn those things are heavy. I thought my hoist arm was gonna break.

  • Where you from? Where is your shop?

  • what are the songs you used in these videos?

  • This one is "Sentimental Journey" arranged and performed by Juan Garcia Esquivel.

  • Great posting looks good getting the FORD back on line. The music is just right well done

    5 *****.FORDROAD AUSTRALIA.

  • see alot of this people using a table to build up and engine why dont you use a engine stand would be alot esyer when needing to turn the engine

  • You can do it either way, I like a table because a stand blocks the back of the engine. I do use a stand at home to make it easier to stash away.

  • AWESOME... Thank you.
