  • Quit your complaining and blaming and get to work fixing. We've got a state to rebuild.

If your solution is "vote in more [fill in the political hack party of choice]" then you're looking for other people to fix things. They won't. You have to do it. I have to do it. We have to do it.

    Get to work.

  • @MrEjustian >> Hm...this was supposed to be a comment for folks playing the blame game...didn't mean it for the main vid here which is AWESOME.

I can see @mike1981val's point of view...but if we're mining 50 years of hard times there's plenty of fodder for all parties. It's not a helpful discussion. We're not helpless, and we can all work together to fix this place.

  • @mike1981val Thanks for your comments. It's obvious that this is an important topic for you and that's good. We, however, are not a political organization. Our message is simple: Change the way people think about themselves and their region, promote the sort of innovation that put the Midwest on the map and look to the trends of today to see the way forward.

  • Good sentiments...WRONG solutions.

    innovate collaborate communicate??? Uh..huh

    CANDIDATE.

    As in REPUBLICAN.

Michgian PISSED away it's AMAZING good fortune because of one thing DEMOCRATIC POLITICIANS.

The 2000 vs 2009 numbers capture it perfectly.

Another way to put it was Engler(R) vs Granholm (D)

Yet liberals still blame ENGLER 10 years later for what GRANHOLM IS 100% Responsible. for.

The left wing Freep DEMONIZED Engler .

Detroit hasn't had a rep mayor since Elvis!

  • You know TOYOTA and HONDA aren't going bk.

And they have plants in the USA.

And the states they have them in - Tenn even MS are doing BETTER than Mi.

    Why?

    UNIONS.

And Unions = Democrats. Pure and Simple.

Quit voting in Dems and vote in Rep who STAND up to Union THUGS and Michigan turns around.

Ever hear of Texas?? They are booming. And they almost ALWAYS elect Republicans.

    What a coincidence!

Oh yeah textile industry newspaper ind, airlines & auto ind have STRONGEST unions. Guess what?

  • Cool video! Loved all the "firsts"!

The only thing I didn't like about the video is the implication that the 1967 riots caused the flight from the city. Not true. People were leaving the city for the suburbs before the riots. Detroit's population was already decreasing before the 1967 riots. The riots increased flight from the city.

  • @rodeopro1 Thank you for your compliments and comments.

The video does not assert that the riots caused the flight from the city. It states, "In 1967 the Detroit Riots set the stage for racial & civil disturbance that is still felt today..." In the next sequence, it says "Between 1950 and 1980, Detroit lost 1 million residents." It does not reference the race riots or any single act as the cause.
