my grandads dad was in the battle of v somme he was given a medal he took over a german machinegun post by his self saving alot of his friends but he died of his war wounds

Most of this is staged. A good clue is the position of the camera. In those days movie camera's were hand cranked so if the shot appears to have been taken from the middle of a live fire zone where soldiers fairly close by are falling down dead; it's probably staged - or the camera man has a death wish.

was ww1 really worth it I mean ww2 was to stop hitler and fascism but ww1 just to gain a few land and i didn't solve anything there was another war

It wasn't fought to gain a bit of land. That happened because of the stalemate that arose on the western front.

Germany was attempting to invade and take over France. The French and the British were trying to stop them.
