Well, he was originally in a rock band, he was the singer and guitarist. His band almost had a record deal but they turned it down. I wouldn't be surprised if that were really him singing and playing.

yeah I was thinking about that too when I was watching the movie! And at the very least, this music is in a different key from the music in the "official" video for this song so I really would like to believe that it's him singing :)

no of course he didn't sing..... that was the gag... it was a pretend performance for Lucy's character in the movie cause she liked rock stars.....so he lipsynced the song "Speaking in Tongues" by "Eagles of death Metal" ... to impress her.... the real singer is kinda spoofy but he writes great songs.
