The problem with the majority of Canadians is that we are complacent with what we got and and are afraid to do something out of our "comfort zone" !
Canada's foreign policy has gone to the dogs since the Harper government has been in power, the international committee does not even considers a "Canadian" point of view anymore, but merely we are lackeys of US foreign policy !
I assume that the ^ was an attempt to refer to my post on election statistics for Trudeau and Cretien. Somehow stating the facts means I must be on the conservative party payroll. Is it really that difficult to believe that there really are people who think differently than you do?
She stated a popular opinion in place where there would be no consequences, but people are comparing her to that kid who stood in front of the tanks in China. It's absurd.
The reason 40% of Canadians voted for Harper was simply because of the 3 evils (PC,NDP and Lib) they (Harper) was the only viable choice. People really want NEW BLOOD a new party to represent CANADA. Not the same old crap parties that we have currently. I'd run for prime minister but I am "DESIGNED" not to be able to and don't have the money backing. But I'd promise you absolutely nothing and keep my word. Seriously we need people who think about CANADA first. Thank you for my time.
How sad it is that people that 'used to be respected' (ie. Gov't officials-Kenney) resort to degrading name calling. It's like the Bush doctrine. If you're not with us, then you're against us, the agenda of fear, intimidation, lies. Thank you Brigitte for your courage & commitment to ''our Canada. These men that act so formidable & powerful are nothing to voices like you & we the people of Canada.
@lizbz What are you talking about? You are a 29 year old Canadian and you're not even aware that the majority of Canadians voted against Harper! 60% of the votes didn't go to the conservatives. Look it up.
@Appleriver3 And nearly 80% DIDN'T vote for NDP, and even less for Liberal... so what's your point? Harper won 54.2% of the vote for those who voted - those who didn't vote had their chance for a say and declined, so their opinion is moot, I don't know why you're taking them into account. Harper won fair and square, but you bleeding-heart liberals just can't stop crying and whining about it. It was about time the liberal machine got kicked out on it's ass.
Trudeau won with only 38% in 1968, and Cretien won with 38% in 1997, less than what Harper has now. Neither of them ever won more than 45% in any of their elections. Was the will of the Canadian people thwarted back then, too? Or is the system only broken when your side loses?
@Appleriver3 That is a dumb warn out lefty line, this is the system since confederation. You were not complaining when the Liberals won with even less of the vote. Look it up and learn.
Brigette DePape is either misguided and does not comprehend that the political system exists only to enslave the people or she's complicit and is part of the control grid that keeps people playing the political game. Either way she, like each other person there, is just another distraction and diversion from the greater truth. It's the same old same old.
The only effective solution to all of our problems begins with the total and permanent collapse of all power and control hierarchies.
The will of the Canadian people was thwarted by a dysfunctional electoral system. Only 24% of eligible Canadian voters elected this majority government. The Conservatives hid from the electorate by refusing to attend all candidates' forums during the campaign, Harper refused to answer media questions about where cuts would be made to slay the deficit, the public was not welcome to his events, he was found in contempt of parliament.....the will of Canadians is not reflected in the parliament.
Trudeau won with only 38% in 1968, and Cretien won with 38% in 1997, less than what Harper has now. Neither of them ever won more than 45% in any of their elections. Was the will of the Canadian people thwarted back then, too? Or is the system only broken when your side loses?

Can we not have a political discourse in this country without insult, insolence and illegal activities. In this case, a young woman who puts her own moment in the limelight above the will of the Canadian people. Bridgette the ( Rogue ) Page, is Honoured with receiving a Message from young Activists, in Egypt.
( Cheers from the Crowd, CHEERS from Me for Bridgette and those in Cairo! ) It was passed on by a Group of Canadian Activists who traveled there. They were cheering in Cairo when they saw Photos of the Action with the Message to, STOP HARPER!...we cheered here in Canada too, Bridgette!
CUPW Strike is an "important part of a broader fight against the Harper Agenda". CUPW have my support. I am one of the "Many of us" that have been inspired by those Rising Up! for Democracy, in Africa and the Middle East. I am inspired by all of "us" who Make the Stand for Democracy in the World.
She says, Quote: We are "here" because we know the Power of the Street is Greater than ANY Power of Any Parliament. Bridgette speaks with Maturity to a Tradition she believes in. The Tradition of Ordinary People in this Country fighting to create a more Just and Sustainable World through Peaceful Direct Action and Civil Disobedience.
@pittsky Ah, my dear pittsky... a quick look at your profile reveals that you are a gun lover. It's a funny about the modern version of a conservative, always so blind to history.
So tell me, do you know the historical significance of the "right to bear arms" concept? But hey, keep saying "Coup d'états", it's fun.
(1) The people in this video are calling for the overthrow of our democratically elected Prime Minister. Watch it again if you missed that part. Thats illegal and thats why I have contacted the RCMP over this.
We had an election. You lost. Deal with it. Your opinion isn't more important than other Canadian voters.
Bridgette is Humble enough to recognize that she did " ..one small ACT that gained a lot of Attention..." Another good attribute in this Young Woman which I commend. That she calls recognition to the many others of "us" who need to be recognized for "Our" Collective Efforts ( We certainly are in this together ) is shows her Character in a positive light.
After watching this video, I've contacted the RCMP and sent them a link.
These people are calling for the overthrow of our democratically elected government.
Every hippie in this video will have to step over my dead body before they get anywhere near the elected Prime Minister, regardless of what political party he or she represents.
@pittsky No, because you claim that a young woman with a microphone deserves attention from the Mounties while your weaponised YouTube channel puts you in tin foil hat silhouette while you shoot your glamour gun.
You, and your AR-45 and your self-righteous protest to the police should be a little more circumspect about others who wish to protest, with nothing more than words. Perhaps the RCMP should be speaking to someone who belongs to a group called "Canadian Gun Nutz".
You go Bridgette. Youth apathy hurt us all during the last several elections. What ever you can do to re-involve your generation in Canadian politics is appreciated by those of us who are old enough to see the rapid decline in the Canada we grew up in.
CBC News broke the election results broadcasting ban on Monday by displaying results for around five minutes at 9:05 p.m. ET in Central Canada, just under 30 minutes before polls were set to close there for elections Canada ,commissionersoffice@elections.ca
Bridgette steps to the Mike. That she is introudecd by a young Man wearing a "DO NOT ARREST THIS PERSON ", shirt, speaks Volumes about the Times "we" as Canadians are living in. Especially, on the streets, of Canada. ( G 20 , TO/10 )
@geraldinemchafe , One Year acknowledgement of the G 20 Violations in T.O. 2010. Send out my encouragement to all those who take a Stand for Democracy in their own ways, in their everyday lives.
Wow, these people are delusional. I commend them taking steps to try and change things they think are wrong but they should do a little research and maybe study history. I hope these people actually vote next time instead of complaining about the results.
@Quaxile Or maybe they did vote and are complaining about the results because not only did Harper win with 39% of the popular vote (which is fine), but he won a majority (which is not, and saying that the left being divided is a good enough reason for that to happen is just flat out wrong).
@bluedragon258 I was five or six years old, maybe. If I'd been of voting age (or even moderately intelligent) then, I would've been protesting against the Liberals all the same. Doesn't matter if it's Harper or Chretien who wins under a bad system -- it's still a bad system.
@bluedragon258 Listening to Harper complain about first past the post while I waited for my chance to vote 7 years later. Your fallacious argument is sad, it does not matter if he did not argue against it long ago, it only matters that he argues against it now. Your argument should be focused on the legitimacy or illegitimacy of first past the post, not the past.

@geraldinemchafe
We HAVE democracy in Canada. We have elections all the time. Just because you don't like the result, doesn't mean it isn't democracy.
Whats wrong with you people?
pittsky 8 months ago
She says, Quote: We are "here" because we know the Power of the Street is Greater than ANY Power of Any Parliament. Bridgette speaks with Maturity to a Tradition she believes in. The Tradition of Ordinary People in this Country fighting to create a more Just and Sustainable World through Peaceful Direct Action and Civil Disobedience.

I would "Like" to see the Focus here on this thread, STAY ON , THE BRIDGETTE VIDEO , the Content of her speech AND the Issues she points out....
(~ ^NOT the Trolls Comments. They use these Comments to Distract "Us" from our Collective Goal,... BUT it only Stops when "we" put a stop to it.)

@geraldinemchafe
Yes yes, why should we be alarmed that a group of extreme left wing radicals are calling for the overthrow of our democratically elected government.
Again, I've sent this to the RCMP.
pittsky 8 months ago
@pittsky Ah, my dear pittsky... a quick look at your profile reveals that you are a gun lover. It's a funny about the modern version of a conservative, always so blind to history.
So tell me, do you know the historical significance of the "right to bear arms" concept? But hey, keep saying "Coup d'états", it's fun.

@pittsky your posts are increasingly incoherent. Are angry or just confused?
brochango 8 months ago
@brochango
I'll keep it simple.
The people in this video are calling for the overthrow of the democratically elected gov't. I'm saying thats unwise. Its also illegal.
How can I be clearer?
pittsky 8 months ago
@pittsky Illegal? yes, unlawful? no.
Magna Carta 1215 - section 16

so what did you get from that?

@pittsky And meanwhile, you're supporting a government that has broken the law many times over, including cheating in at least one election.
Harper never should have been allowed to run in the first place.

The people of Canada have spoken. Thats democracy. If you want to enact real change, volunteer for your local candidate next election.
I volunteered for my Conservative MP and drove many people to the polls.
Harper is our Prime Minister. Anyone who openly calls for his overthrow is a criminal/terrorist.
I'd defend our Prime Minister from being overthrown whether he was Jack Layton, Michael Ignatieff or Stephen Harper.
This is Canada, not the middle east. We hold elections.
pittsky 8 months ago
@pittsky
We're speaking our minds, not overthrowing him.
Us Quebecers showed him that he sucks, kicked the Conservatives out of Quebec.
We want right-winged fascism out of Canada.
I want a Canadian Government, not a Harper Government.
macfiset 8 months ago 3
@macfiset
(1) The people in this video are calling for the overthrow of our democratically elected Prime Minister. Watch it again if you missed that part. Thats illegal and thats why I have contacted the RCMP over this.
We had an election. You lost. Deal with it. Your opinion isn't more important than other Canadian voters.
pittsky 8 months ago
@pittsky See, I don't really approve an overthrow.
I believe that the PM should listen to his population. I mean, here in Quebec, flooding was just as bad as Central and Western provinces.
Harper never stepped foot in the NPD-elected Quebec. He even gave a direct order to the military to NOT help in anyway for the Quebec flooding.
There were tanks rolling through floodwater, but the entire fleet of Blue Collar workers from Quebec City had to mobilise to help.
IDC for Conservatives; Screw Harper

Bridgette is Humble enough to recognize that she did " ..one small ACT that gained a lot of Attention..." Another good attribute in this Young Woman which I commend. That she calls recognition to the many others of "us" who need to be recognized for "Our" Collective Efforts ( We certainly are in this together ) is shows her Character in a positive light.

After watching this video, I've contacted the RCMP and sent them a link.
These people are calling for the overthrow of our democratically elected government.
Every hippie in this video will have to step over my dead body before they get anywhere near the elected Prime Minister, regardless of what political party he or she represents.
pittsky 8 months ago
@pittsky Oh, I think we will eventually see some arrests by the RCMP. I'm just not so sure you're going to like who is lead away in cuffs though.
brochango 8 months ago
@brochango
Are you suggesting I'll be lead away in cuffs?
Chuckle.
For what?
Again, I've contacted the RCMP and sent them this video. Coup d'états are illegal.
Why do you hate democracy?
pittsky 8 months ago
@pittsky No, not you, my friend.
You forget, little things like election fraud and misappropriation of public funds are also quite illegal.

sumweiroytthair 8 months ago
@sumweiroytthair
I'm scary because I believe in democracy and I would be against overthrowing the gov't?
pittsky 8 months ago

Stop Harper.
Stop the lies.
Stop the bleeding.
brochango 8 months ago 4
Stop Harper? He was givena mandate by the people of Canada in the form of a functional majority Government.
Thats democracy. If you don't like it your free to leave Canada.
One question though, with the looks of that crowd, who's manning the Head Shop?
pittsky 8 months ago
tell that to the people of chile who democratically elected President Salvador Allende.

Wow, these people are delusional. I commend them taking steps to try and change things they think are wrong but they should do a little research and maybe study history. I hope these people actually vote next time instead of complaining about the results.
Quaxile 8 months ago
@Quaxile Or maybe they did vote and are complaining about the results because not only did Harper win with 39% of the popular vote (which is fine), but he won a majority (which is not, and saying that the left being divided is a good enough reason for that to happen is just flat out wrong).
shinreiyhvh 8 months ago
@shinreiyhvh so where were you when Chretien won 93 with 40% of the popular vote?
bluedragon258 8 months ago
@bluedragon258 I was too young to even be aware of it, never mind do anything about it.
Why is it wrong for Chretien to do it, but okay for Harper? If you really had values you'd go after both of them.

shinreiyhvh 8 months ago
@bluedragon258 I was five or six years old, maybe. If I'd been of voting age (or even moderately intelligent) then, I would've been protesting against the Liberals all the same. Doesn't matter if it's Harper or Chretien who wins under a bad system -- it's still a bad system.
shinreiyhvh 8 months ago 2
@bluedragon258 Listening to Harper complain about first past the post while I waited for my chance to vote 7 years later. Your fallacious argument is sad, it does not matter if he did not argue against it long ago, it only matters that he argues against it now. Your argument should be focused on the legitimacy or illegitimacy of first past the post, not the past.
