It's why spaying and neutering is so important. There would be far less animals that had to be euthanized in a shelter because of the large amount of animals that can't be cared for. The simple operation saves more lives than you think.

I came here after seeing link at end of FB video for dog shelter. As a retired soldier my first reaction after seeing this was pure disgust and a desire to do some serious damage to these dudes...probably same visceral reaction WWII soldiers had toward the Nazis after they saw Nazi gas camps and the dead bodies therein. I believe that the sounds of them whinning and crying is added since carbon monoxide doesn't cause any pain to the animal. The animals simply fall asleep due to the lack of oxygen. If it was painful, humans wouldn't be killed every winter when they start their cars in the garage without the door open because they would be like, "oh shit, my insides hurt! Its probably carbon monoxide". Gas is the better than injection because the injection induces a heart attack and that is very painful.
@ajztheman Keep in mind they cram multitudes of animals in one tank, and they convulse and usually drown in their own vomit. The terror is so bad they urinate and shit all over the place - and they do choke from it. It is not ususal taking 30 minutes to finally die. Nazi concentration camp victims who were killed in this manner, was hardly "painless". Still, for the multitudes of dogs and cats, this is a far better fate than to starve to death or hit by cars or poisoned.

handling, properties, chemical composition,reactivity, ability to recognise
exposure, long term, and acute effects, symptoms, time weighted average,

It's why spaying and neutering is so important. There would be far less animals that had to be euthanized in a shelter because of the large amount of animals that can't be cared for. The simple operation saves more lives than you think.
Some of these dogs looked so sweet...it's sad how overpopulation leads to this.

I came here after seeing link at end of FB video for dog shelter. As a retired soldier my first reaction after seeing this was pure disgust and a desire to do some serious damage to these dudes...probably same visceral reaction WWII soldiers had toward the Nazis after they saw Nazi gas camps and the dead bodies therein. But then again it is a terrible consequence of animal mismanagement and I can't believe anybody involved enjoys doing this.

I believe that the sounds of them whinning and crying is added since carbon monoxide doesn't cause any pain to the animal. The animals simply fall asleep due to the lack of oxygen. If it was painful, humans wouldn't be killed every winter when they start their cars in the garage without the door open because they would be like, "oh shit, my insides hurt! Its probably carbon monoxide". Gas is the better than injection because the injection induces a heart attack and that is very painful.

@ajztheman Keep in mind they cram multitudes of animals in one tank, and they convulse and usually drown in their own vomit. The terror is so bad they urinate and shit all over the place - and they do choke from it. It is not ususal taking 30 minutes to finally die. Nazi concentration camp victims who were killed in this manner, was hardly "painless". Still, for the multitudes of dogs and cats, this is a far better fate than to starve to death or hit by cars or poisoned.

@ajztheman Well it doesn't cause pain to people asleep in their garages because they are already asleep, their bodies are deprived of oxygen and they cannot carry out muscle function. When you breathe CO it would feel like breathing into a paper bag over and over, in other words each breath would have no fulfillment. They are conscious till the very last minute.
