All this mean is that your freon is low put some on n it will stop doing that n if a couple of days it's starts again is because you have a leak some where n need to fix but the ac compresser is fine
No, A/C Clutches are not suppose to do that. When the clutch stops spinning it causes friction on the belt eventually causing the serpentine to snap and can lead to a shot compressor as well. Yes, a special tool will be needed to take the clutch off, but putting it back on is the bigger bitch lOl. Best of luck to everyone with thus problem. Shouldn't take more than a day for you and a friend to do.
I have a question: I have a 99 jetta 2.0, at first I only got good cold air only when i would drive, if I came to a dead stop then the air would be warm, if I accelerated again it would go back to cold air, someone told me I needed freon but when I added it or tried to the gauge needle was on the red zone and would not let me add any more freon... I took it all out, put new freon in and the I noticed that the clutch would not turn but I think it had already been like that. HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
So?? Do you have a purpose to this waste of server space? Are you looking for help? Are you giving advice? Are you a deaf mute and can't talk? There are many vidoes on here like this. How are we suppose to figure out what they are for if you you don't say or write something?
ok mine does the same thing. it blows hot but not cold and when i put the freon on the connector it builds pressure into the red and when goes back down and continues doing so. what does that mean and is the compressor supposed to do that.
Its cycleing, pressure on the high side will allways spike like that with a single gauge (you should be using a duel manifold gauge that hooks into both high and low). If its cycleing once every two seconds like that its low on freon and i would suggest injectind dye and finding the leak and sealing it (and i dont mean leakstop that will also cause damage), then pull a long vacuume befor rechargeing it. without doing so you will just damage the compressor and dryer.
Does anyone know how to press the pulley wheel back on Compressor, when replacing with the compressor attached to engine,, very tight area between compressor and radiator, it's about 4 inches
Mine does the exact same thing as yours, even when my AC and heat arent even on... Is that right? Trying to diangons a whine in my engine... check out my video and see if you know what it might be.

looks right to me

Yeah, I see that...When the A/C is switched off, ONLY the front hub assembly should not spin...The pulley should turn freely with the serpentine...

so what was the problem and how did you fix it???

@rclark23 There is a special tool for that. You can usually borrow it from Auto Zone or Advance

I believe these are suppost to do that. My 1996 jeep grand cherokee compressor did the same thing. A/c worked PERFECT

@infinity3jif You sir are incorrect that is a GM a/c compressor from the looks of it

can you talk on your video so we know whats going on? some of us are not mechanics.

What you see is at first a simple Air Conditioner (Compressor) turned off.
Then it engages when the air conditioner is turned on, compressing the coolant gasses by being spun with the engine.
