Truthfully, he should have won this years ago. He has given many wonderfully riviting performances over the years that have never been recognized, long before this one. Sad business.

He is a thinking man, which I find very sexy. Speaking Italian only enhances that. It is not hard to pick up a language when yor husband/wife speaks it. It is especially remarkable given the age he was when he started to learn it.

Mr. Firth has said that he has never felt accepted by Livia's family, who viewed him as this very, very, very dodgy character. Imagine feeling like that for fourteen years? That is, until he received this award in Italy. Perhaps that is why his speech was so moving and so emotional for him. I can understand why he would have tears in his eyes.
