Seems odd that someone with absolutely no military experience at all/being a veteran can command the worlds most powerful military. Kind of like the Yankees hiring a new manager that has never played baseball.
@jvolstad Of course they support the troops and they honor our soldiers. If you will read "The 5000 Year Leap" by Cleon Skousen, you will understand the patriotism of the what the LDS people believe in. We have conservative family values and a strong belief in God and country.
@law53ut Great. Super. The last time I checked, the age limit for enlisting in the Army was 40 years old. Shall we expect his five boys to show up at the recruiters office sometime this week? As for me, I have already requested to return to military service. Army Retirees can do that. Don't know if they will take me, but I stand to serve again as needed. Meanwhile, I do volunteer work at my local VA Hospital, helping our wounded warriors.
cattleprods: I do not know what agenda you are refering to, but I do know that a lot of our leaders are power hungry and will go out of their way to fuck others over. I like RP because he seems so much more honest than all the Dems and Repubs, and the fact he wants the US to stop acting as the police of the world.
@warmnfuzzzy and what is your opinion of Ron Paul wanting to end government involvement in schools tomorrow? So all our schools should be private enterprise? Exactly how do you see that working? I think RP has some good values but I think he's in the clouds and a bit unrealistic on some things as to how the world works.
@law53ut Hello law53ut. Personally, I like public education. I had a public education, served in Navy for 6 years, and then attended a state ran college for seven years. What Paul is advocating is not getting rid of the public school system, but rather getting rid of the Department of Education (DOE) on the Federal level. The DOE was created in late 70's, early 80's and consists of many unneeded bureucrats and lobbyists. Each state has its own DOE and can do a much better job than federal.

@law53ut Imagine if each state was to implement its own public school programs. You would have 50 different programs. One state can adopt ideas from another state to make improvements to its own existing system. With a federal system it is a one size fits all which is a terrible idea.
I know that some of Paul's ideas seem different, but alot of times he is misunderstood or the media misrepresents him.
His sons are serving this country by getting their dad elected... please tell me I didn't hear this. I think this is ridiculous you serve your country by taking public office, you serve your country by joining the military, you can even serve your country by being a part of local law enforcement or the postal service. You do not serve this country by getting Mitt Romney elected president.
I am a Ron Paul supporter and I drove 2 hours to vote for Ron Paul. Romney had many people there for him. He had around 100 buses, food from a well known restaurant, golf cards to transport his supporters between his camp and the buses. He spent an awful lot of money. Personally, I would be suspicious of a person that has to blow that amount of money for votes.
As a MA resident I'm a personal victim of RomneyCare. Previously I had an insurance plan for $475/month. Many young people were going without because it was too expensive. So Mitt the Libs FORCED us to buy the HMO's product, and prices immediatly increased 35% (mine is now $640). Those who couldn't afford it before still can't, so now they won't get a state tax return. Screw Romney.
Jesus fucking Christ, that it nuts. I pay $2.00 a week for Health Insurance. I am glad I live in Iowa. Now I see where Mitt got all that money to bus in the uninformed elderly to vote for him at the Iowa Straw Poll.
Mitt and his sons will influinse the world far more being polititions than they ever could being marines. just because you got "drafted" dosn't mean you would've served had you not been "drafted". get over yourselves! and that "flpflop" title is rediculous, he's never flip floped on 1 single issue!
That is a really crappy thing to say about our military adangonzalealmormon. Typical chicken hawk that won't take gun fire but criticizes on the side lines. I heard talk about a draft TODAY and it is a real probability since our military is being used up in this God forsaken war.
nah. That Credence song was written over 30 years ago when kids were being drafted and sent to 'Nam. Money will still buy the rich an 'out' and it'll still be those who are left who are drafted. The only thing a draft might do is mobilize ordinary parents who don't want their kids to be killed. Most of them (and their kids) are apathetic right now. That tune would change with a draft.
ForAmerica-These chickehawks are all over YT. I get into flame wars with them often. They scream for war but pay no personal price. Funny thing-They claim to support the troops but hurl insults my way with abandon. I hate cowardly chickehawks. P.S. They only appear on the internet, one has never confronted me in the wild. HHMMM!
The same reason Bill Bennett, secretary of Education under Raygun and Drug Czar under Bush 1, was out speaking about America's moral problems while he was losing millions gambling and seeing a Las Vegas dominatrix. H Y P O C R I T E S
Mitt Romney, you can't buy my vote. Not for $800, not for $80,000, not for $8,000,000, and certainly you are welcome to provide me a bus ride to the polls but I'm voting for Ron Paul.
He knows the perils of war and what happens. A drafted Air Force Medic KNOWS what happens to our young men and women and KNOWS not to fight for political reasons.
The Romney boys are pro-offensive wars like their father. You cannot put any value into what comes out of their mouths. They are along for the ride. Also, with 250 million dollars in the family Mitt Romney is incredible egomaniac to want to run for office. Whats his formula? Got money, now wants power so better get along with and pay off whoever on whatever issue to get elected. Scary.
Mitt Romney is worth 1/4 of a billion dollars, according to his campaign disclosure filing. Mitt can buy all the votes he needs to become the next president.
That's today's politician for you. They confuse "self serving" with service to country.
I served proudly as an infantry paratrooper (91 to 95) and get REALLY offended by jerks like Romney thinking that they have any idea what service really is.
Why Won't Mitt Romney Reveal His Taxes To The American People?
