  • Nevermind, looked around and found that it weren't supposed to be used like the male. That I have to do it myself. Sorry.

  • Hey, I have got the female skeletal from UDK site, and I can't move some parts of it.

  • hi, my character is modelled according to uneal's units in 3d max but when i import epic's character skeleton it is way to small to match my character, what should i do? :? thanks

  • @AIternativeIV

Scale your character down to the same size as the skeleton because Unreal units are a waste of time..

Then in your the characters class you can adjust its scale like this in the default properties,

    Scale=0.95

  • thx man :) u hellping me alot

  • @Anaconda9514

Its a pleasure and good luck with your modelling!

  • @lexluthornumber1

i cant move one single bone in figure mode...

    looks like it's locked...

    any idea why ?

  • @GARLlCjr

Because the two skeletons are constrained to each other..On my website is a version of the skeleton that has no constraints on it...The link to my website is on my channel!

  • @lexluthornumber1

    thanks lex,

is there any way to add extra

bones to the base skeleton ?

    great tutorial by the way,

    it was imported perfectly.

  • @lexluthornumber1

    that would be awesome !

  • @lexluthornumber1

    ok, got it :D

thanks again for the help !

    you're the man.

  • hey are you able to skin the character without clothing and then attach them in udk, for rpg style.

and are you able to skin the character as a full mesh as in head, torso, arms ect...

  • @jeremydarkchild

No to the first question, and yes to the second!

  • @lexluthornumber1 Well what i was figuring is when you attach a weapon (ex.. gun) you attach it to a socket. well what I was figuring is model the clothing with bones and then attach them to the characters socket's, so that when your character moves its leg then the pants bend too.

  • @jeremydarkchild

That would not work, you need to add the clothing to the mesh as you model it or use the apex clothing module in UDK!

  • To change the background color go to Rendering tab up top then click on Environment. =)

  • @v8matey

Ah yes I know that now Jesse but at the time 3ds max was pretty new to me

  • at 15:10 you scaled the pelvis bone. I think that's what oscar3d was talking about, and I don't think I should do that.

  • @element5333

You can scale the bip bones as long as your in figure mode, and the yellow bones are not bones, so you can scale them...

I would not advise it though unless you know what are doing

  • thk for tutorial :)

But if the bone need to change scale for my cartoon character what i must do ??

( sry for my bad english) :)

  • @Menethilos

You can't scale bones so I don't know what to suggest other than to start again!

  • My friend. Thank you for this video. But I have a question. In the epic forums, they say you are not supposed to scale or move but rotate the bones. Did it work for you without any issues? Hey thanks man!

  • @oscar3d

I didn't scale any bones as far as I remember because you get loads of issues with the animations then...

  • With this skeleton, can I use the default UDK animations for my character? :)

  • @thenishanth420

Yes you can and the default animtree!

  • @lexluthornumber1 And can you make a short tutorial on how to export Buildings, palaces or some house from 3dsmax and apply the textures along with some help with collsions so as the player can walk through the door of the building to the inside? :) a short video would be really appreciated :) Please make one :) You're awesome! Very nice tutorials :)

  • @thenishanth420

I already have tutorials on my channel for importing, texturing and adding collisions to a building from max to UDK

  • @lexluthornumber1 I searched your list! Man, what a set of the MOST useful tutorials a man can see. I always check out yours, thenewboston's and MJDreamcart's tutorial series. They are just just ....... I have no words to say... FANTABULOUSLY AMAZINGLY AWESOME! :)

    Thank you :)

  • Thank you! There are so many important tutorials that I've been looking for and there all here.

  • Thanks for this tut! Thats what I searched for a long time ;)

  • @Revo2447

    Glad to be of help.

Any problems, let me know and I'll see if I can help!

  • Epic forums address is in the comments of this tutorial

  • No you don't need to create the whole body for a first person mesh, just the arms.

The code in the UTGame classes directs the engine to your two different meshes,(first and third person).

Can't remember which one.Post the question on the epic forums to ask which class states the first and third person meshes.

  • Hey was just curious since you seem to know what you're doing: Do you have to make a whole body system for first person if you want the arms, legs, body etc to be seen? I don't mean just attaching a camera to the third person body, but to have a smooth body functioning in first person just like the usual two hands you see?
