The greatest player I feel to ever walk on a baseball field. He was the whole package because not only did he hit, he had one of the best gloves ever in CF. Griffey should be every players inspiration because if you ever reached his level of ability, you'd be considered a great yourself.
As Ken Griffey Jr. glows into retirement, his going-away gift will not be the gold watch. It will be the bronze plaque that marks one's place in immortality on a wall in the Hall of Fame. MLB

Trollrogue1 is dead wrong u idiot, he was injury riddled throughout 4 seasons, other than that he's got the smoothest swing anyone of us has seen this generation(pujols just kills the ball) plus he's got more HR than sosa and mcgwire...
NO, who's the idiot? griffey is a punk ass little bitch whose half asses efforts make him a laughing stock! He doesn't compare to Mark McGwire or sosa! And you, should have your tongue cut oyt for mentioning his name in the same sentence as theirs! Since when has this female-bodied little dweeb ever brought attention to baseball? The other 2 (real men) brought baseball to the world a few years ago! griffey's an overrated, constantly injured punk! He's doesn't train, he's a sissy bitch!
@zeroptb You're right. He never trained or conditioned. Probably the only downfall about Griff and it's why he stayed injured. That also means that all his amazing accomplishments came off NATURAL talent, and had he trained like other players or even juiced himself, he would of been a baseball GOD. Sosa and McGwire juiced just to be mediocre.
While your rant is idiotic at best, we all will be the ones laughing at you when Jr gets that first ballot into cooperstown. Where will Sosa and Mac be?

Great Video and song! It could not have been expressed any better. Griffey is definitely Baseball's greatest player of his generation. It's an absolute shame he had so many injuries, however, even so, his "natural" numbers speak for itself! In my opinion, he is the modern day home run king. Period!
@idahojoeman U dumbass they were fertilization drugs n he wanted to get his wife pregnant. They were prescribed to him n it showed up years AFTER his kickass season.
I don't blame the Reds for trading him. I'm a lifelong Reds fan, yet Griff has always been my favorite player. So you might be able to understand how happy I was when Junior came to the Reds.

Then A-Rod is gonna' go wayyy past him without steroids too. GO GRIFFEY!
After watching the Reds game tonight and seeing #600....I had to watch this video. Congrats Junior! Now #4 on the alltime list...the alltime list that does not include cheaters that is. Sure hope we get a few more healthy years and maybe #700.

KEN GRIFFEY JR. I cant find 12 letters that have ever inspired me more than these. he is the best baseball player, and best athlete ever in my book. ever since i have watched baseball i have been a fan of his. i hope everyday that he goes back to seattle and finishes his career there. he has absolte raw talent, and every team should want him even now. the kind of player that just makes you want to be better at what you do. thanks griffey for being the greatest player ever.
Griffey also had a memorable guest turn on The Simpsons, in episode 52, during the third season, "Homer at the Bat", along with fellow stars José Canseco, Wade Boggs, Darryl Strawberry, Don Mattingly, Roger Clemens, Steve Sax, Ozzie Smith, and Mike Scioscia. In the episode, Griffey overdoses on a nerve tonic prescribed to him by Mr Burns, causing him to suffer from gigantism.

Seattle I am a big reds fan and he has said he would like to return there for a year before retiring as a victory lap type thing...thats screams HOF with a Seattle cap on.
im a huge griffey fan and always have been i was crushed when he left seattle and when he said that he wanted to come back at some point in his career i was very happy, i love this video i only wish that it had more from his mariner days when he was THE BEST player in baseball
Jr. will be the best of the 90's-00's of this time but I dislike the Ricky Henderson shot in this vid on the negetive side. Someone else who did things the right way. 40 years from now we'll look back on Jr., Ricky Henderson, Ryne Sandberg, Will Clark, Nolan Ryan,Andre Dawson, Jeff Bagwell, John Smotlz and others and think of them differently becuase they were clean, they played it right.
Without Griffey getting injured for almost 3 years he would be the all-time HR leader in just a few years. He already has 593. He also has doen more for baseball than maybe any other player. Despite being the best non-tainted HR hitter in teh steroids era, he also help save the mariners whole franchise in Seattle by scoring the game-winning score in the AL championship game. That kept the Mariners in Seattle. Why do you think he is such a hero to them
dude are you from cincy you have avideo about the bengals and now you have a video about jr coming to cincy and i saw a video on the side called the cincinatti fans
I'm a Mets fan, but without a doubt, Griffey is the Greatest Player of our generation. A great guy, great player who could've set absurd records had he not been plague with injuries. A true role model to look up to. If not the Mets, I hope the Reds and Griffey win a championship.
Justice could be served this year if Griffey can go back out and have a season for the ages and take the Reds back to the playoffs. That would make baseball pure again
Great Vid. I think when it's all said and done (and after we find out that half of baseball used hgh), Griffey will be remembered one of the greatest of our generation.
man imagine if griffey would have stayed healthy all these years. i think he could easily brokin the record...he has probably one of the sweetest swings ive seen
there is no comparison between griffey and arod griffey is and was way better than arod and always will be, just think about it arod was not a great success from his first at bat as a mariner griffey hit a double in his first at bat and a home run in his first home at bat. And arod sells out to the yankees who the hell does that.
Im sorry but that is the worst logic ever. Here's the reverse Nolan Ryan never pitched a perfect game, David Cone pitched a perfect game. Which was the better pitcher, its pretty obvious. A-Rod is on track to be a better player the Griffery, I'm not bashing him I respect him a lot but your logic is so backwards
I live near Cinci, and I'm planing to go to every home game until he hits #600. Griff & Ripken were my idols growing up, and Junior hitting 600 will probably make me tear up.
I feel like I have to make a sign for this one, should it be in Cincinnati.
A simple sign saying: "The 600 club: Aaron, Ruth, Mays, Griffey."
if he didn't keep getting injured, he'd have over 700 homers and without a doubt he is the greatest player of all time. i am a big red sox fan, but i agree with griffey's talent 100 %
Even still Griffey can put up great offensive numbers. I think he'd get a lot more attention now if he played in a bigger city but then, Griffey didn't go for that, he went home. Again, that's very cool.
This song is awesome.
i'm a Red Sox fan btw. Can't wait for Griffey to go into the hall of fame.
There's no doubt about it. Griffey Jr. would be hovering around 650-700 homeruns had he not been hurt! He's the only non-steroid user to have almost 600 Hr's! He is the real deal and especially in these times, needs to be regarded as one of the all time greatest!!
as Rick James would say, "sexy sexy sexy." if he hadn't become the greatest baseball player of all time, he coulda been a male supermodel. so so sexy.

In the episode, Griffey overdoses on a nerve tonic prescribed to him by Mr Burns, causing him to suffer from gigantism.

We all know he will go to the HOF, but the question is, which cap will he go with.
renandstim 3 years ago
Seattle I am a big reds fan and he has said he would like to return there for a year before retiring as a victory lap type thing...thats screams HOF with a Seattle cap on.

Jr. will be the best of the 90's-00's of this time but I dislike the Ricky Henderson shot in this vid on the negetive side. Someone else who did things the right way. 40 years from now we'll look back on Jr., Ricky Henderson, Ryne Sandberg, Will Clark, Nolan Ryan,Andre Dawson, Jeff Bagwell, John Smotlz and others and think of them differently becuase they were clean, they played it right.

there are 2 things that are considered beautiful in the world of sports. Griffey's swing and Barry carrying the football.

Why do you think he is such a hero to them

im from cincinnati and it makes me depressed on how just injuries can keep him away from the record. go ken!

Ken Griffey Jr. Has always been my favorite player before he came to the Reds.
ukhistorian 3 years ago 3
I'm a Mets fan, but without a doubt, Griffey is the Greatest Player of our generation. A great guy, great player who could've set absurd records had he not been plague with injuries. A true role model to look up to. If not the Mets, I hope the Reds and Griffey win a championship.

this year, griff will be the first man to hit 600 since mays. we don't count the cheaters. greatest player in baseball history in my opinion.
nufan3303 4 years ago 3
Justice could be served this year if Griffey can go back out and have a season for the ages and take the Reds back to the playoffs. That would make baseball pure again
rhickle 4 years ago 2
thing that griffey beats bonds and arod is could hit but hes top 3 best center feilder ever maby the best

I agree. He is the best pure player of our time.

Great Vid. I think when it's all said and done (and after we find out that half of baseball used hgh), Griffey will be remembered one of the greatest of our generation.
MarshallSnare 4 years ago 2
man imagine if griffey would have stayed healthy all these years. i think he could easily brokin the record...he has probably one of the sweetest swings ive seen

best talent of baseball ever
Mrbillybadass 4 years ago
there is no comparison between griffey and arod griffey is and was way better than arod and always will be, just think about it arod was not a great success from his first at bat as a mariner griffey hit a double in his first at bat and a home run in his first home at bat. And arod sells out to the yankees who the hell does that.
justinb52 4 years ago
Im sorry but that is the worst logic ever. Here's the reverse Nolan Ryan never pitched a perfect game, David Cone pitched a perfect game. Which was the better pitcher, its pretty obvious. A-Rod is on track to be a better player the Griffery, I'm not bashing him I respect him a lot but your logic is so backwards

He should have broken the home run record. It doesn't matter though because A-Rod is taking it away from Bonds
ripewiththings2say 4 years ago 3
he still could he's relatively young, and if he stays healthy its a possibility

I live near Cinci, and I'm planing to go to every home game until he hits #600. Griff & Ripken were my idols growing up, and Junior hitting 600 will probably make me tear up.
I feel like I have to make a sign for this one, should it be in Cincinnati.
A simple sign saying: "The 600 club: Aaron, Ruth, Mays, Griffey."
or

if he didn't keep getting injured, he'd have over 700 homers and without a doubt he is the greatest player of all time. i am a big red sox fan, but i agree with griffey's talent 100 %
mpL2692 4 years ago
Even still Griffey can put up great offensive numbers. I think he'd get a lot more attention now if he played in a bigger city but then, Griffey didn't go for that, he went home. Again, that's very cool.
This song is awesome.
i'm a Red Sox fan btw. Can't wait for Griffey to go into the hall of fame.
zephyrtube 4 years ago
There's no doubt about it. Griffey Jr. would be hovering around 650-700 homeruns had he not been hurt! He's the only non-steroid user to have almost 600 Hr's! He is the real deal and especially in these times, needs to be regarded as one of the all time greatest!!
adamolambert 4 years ago
as Rick James would say, "sexy sexy sexy." if he hadn't become the greatest baseball player of all time, he coulda been a male supermodel. so so sexy.
