  • Go there every week, just another Walmart. I haven't notice a big push to get more green stores by Walmart or anybody else. That tells me going green is many years from being viable

  • Lets go to Big Tonys!!!

  • @RSwyMK96 There pizza is good lol

  • @iiXboxClan You've Been there Before?

  • @RSwyMK96 Yea

  • @iiXboxClan Me and my Parents go there During Karaoke....

  • @RSwyMK96 I went there once during karaoke we just waked in i hered a bunch of drunk people singing lol

  • It seems like that turbine is broken half the time. But I'm glad they're trying it.

  • This store is horrible to its employees and is a failing green store all together

  • Is there a display to indicate the present output?

Like a big bank 'thermometer' display, readable from a distance?

I also hear a low rumble in the audio of this vid - is that from the turbine (it would be distrubing if one could hear that in one's house day and night from a turbine next door or in the backyard.)

  • Did you notice the anemometers? I love that wind generator.

  • Matthew - I share your enthusiasm for this wind turbine. I saw the anemometers and recorded them: watch?v=MUvK7osPbgw

Daniel - You beat me to making this video by over a year! I came across these wind turbines by accident and got my camcorder out just like you did. Honestly, I'm surprised more people haven't recorded this beautiful turbine and posted it online. Your video is the only other one I could find. Cheers!

  • Cool. I love to see the wind generator and the anemometers. Every time I go to Sams Club next door, the anemometers are in a distance. But when the sun is at the right spot in the sky, the anemometer create intresting light shows. I own a couple of anemometers at my home. I love weather and anything to do with weather. Look for wmr100 and you will see some videos I posted. In my videos I also posted a homemade anemometer. Using Easter egg cups, a dc motor, and a bike speedometer.

  • I'd like to see the show that the anemometers make. :-) I noticed the turbine making a huge shadow on the parking lot, making me appreciate the size of the turbine. (I recorded that, too.) I checked out your home-made anemometer...don't know how you calibrated it, but it looks good! My anemometer is acting flaky. Need a new one.

  • I hate that parking lot.

    NEVER enough spaces.

    The inside is nice though.

  • I think this is a great move in the right direction. I hope more companies start designing this way. I am from McKinney and have been to the store and it is great.

  • i have seen this thing whipping around as fast as an airplane prop.

  • And what about the fact that there's not enough wind to make the wind mill ever break even? Are we supposed to feel good about walmart GREENWASHING this property to make everyone feel better about them?

  • Let me explain exactly what GREENWASHING is; When companies have been forced by eco-fascist go green pissy little whiners complain that it is not enough. As for the Walmart its ok but the Target on the otherside of 75 has hotter cashiers.

  • And what "facts" do you have supporting your statement about not enough wind and won't break even? Theres enough wind, fact, to keep that turbine blowing 8 hours a day, on avg, 365. That will create $18,000 worth of electricity. The turbine cost around $160,000, so the payback will be about 9 years. These wind turbines will last 15-20 years, meaning after it's paid for, it will generate another 100-150,000. worth of power, and that's if the price of electricity never goes higher.
