The footage of explicitly non-partisan Vote Mobs with out asking combined with LPC footage almost makes me think this was done to make the Liberals look bad and create resentment among students. It leaves a bad taste and neither group will be happy. Why is this so hard for the editor to understand. You should take out the Vote Mob footage. How about a disclaimer at least that neither group was involved with this.

Hi Melissa,

You should have asked permission from the creators of the Vote Mob videos you used, to see if they (and all the young people in the videos) consented to it being used spliced together directly with one of the federal party leaders.

I don't think belief in your project, and you personally being inspired by Ignatieff's speech is a good enough reason to paint what comes across as a heavily partisan message onto young people who were putting out a clearly non-partisan one.

@matthewfcarroll it wasnt meant to be partisan. she wrote a song called rise up calgary. when ignatieff encouraged canadians to rise up, it was a sign to her to try to get voters involved once again. If another candidate said the words 'rise up' she may have been equally inspired. I didnt find it was partisan - but if you are influenced that easily, i'm sorry. What I would consider partisan is the attack ads that came out against Ignatieff years ago-stating that he's not CDN bc he lived abroad

@nrsmatth Yes you are right. This song was originally created for Calgary (Rise UP Calgary) for the civic election. It was always part of Melissa's plan to inspire Canada in the same way, but was spurred into action by Ignatieff's 'Rise Up' speech and re mixed the song to motivated Canadians. It worked in Calgary, so maybe it will work for Canada.

It simply does not do our system justice when one creates a "non-partisan" video to encourage voter turnout that is obviously liberal leaning. My suggestion would be to redo the video and take out the liberal biased footage.

I agree, as a participant in the video, I can say that this was a voluntary and grass roots movement created to inspire Canadians to rise up and vote. It is inspired by Ignatieff's speech but meant to be non partisan.

I agree with jamesopensfire. The video is very partisan for a video that appears to be attempting to encourage people to vote. It is like it is trying to say rise up and vote Canada....... for the liberals not the conservatives. Would be far more powerful without the partisan bulls***.

Not sure where this video is coming from but as a Vote Mob participant I am very uncomfortable with the use of Vote Mob footage for a partisan video. Vote Mobs are intended to be political but non-partisan - targetting youth voter apathy, not supporting any party or going against any party.
