They have real racing in it, this is just an option. And its not gay like Need for SPeed drifting, its far more realistic, and is quite difficult to do. If you've ever drifted in GT4 (not by fluke, for real) you'll know.

I have drifted in GT4 and it is very difficult. I just don't like it. I could go faster in a slower car and would rather maintain clean lines and work to keep traction instead of throwing it out the window.
