In 1990s, extra rapid train "HOLIDAY" were operated. "Sagano & Arashiyama HOLIDAY" of them, ran the connector line, so this train didn't stop at Kyoto station.
Now, Sagano Line is construction to double track, because the line has not enough track capacity.
And, train delay doesn't want to affect to other lines.
Because above reasons, lately this train is not operated, I think so.

Nice downtown section!
I can see they're working with a new track ... maybe from single to double track or just repair and renovation?

The area along this Sagano Line grew from the late 1990's because the line was completed electrification work in 1996.
Before that, only diesel-powered trains ran this line.
Now the line is under single to bouble track construction, the construction will be completed in the spring of next year, 2010.
