Out of all the reviews everyone seems to say 4.5 or 9 of 10. This seems to me a weak way of not giving full credit where credit is due. Compare this to anything else rock and roll has produced and maybe we should quit using scales. As a fan of music I hope something comes along better just as this band did.

I don't look at that in a negative way, being a norwegian Kvelertak is huge around here,and i've noticed that Kvelertak appeals to the different groups of rockers! The deathmetalers enjoy it,punkrockers/skaters listen to certain tracks alot, heavy metalers digg it and even oldschooler rockers like my father can enjoy it,. The point is,that Kvelertak has made an album for the majority, without going "Mainstream" atall, 9/10 imo :)

Swedish brain is the innovative force of the cars, and as I also said: Those Volvos you and I would drive around in are made in Sweden. I don't really care who's the biggest shareholder. It was the national holiday today (the Saint-Jean Baptiste) in Québec and I'm fucking drunk after celebrating that, yet I am drawn to relisten to this review before relisteneing to the album to end this pretty perfectly.
Lemme tell you what I think about this album: I THINK IT IS ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS OF ALL TIME. Holy shit, when I listened to it the first time my brain exploded and I have yet to find the pieces. So unique and... PUMPING? Yeah, pumping is totally the right word. Saw these guys live in Stockholm as well, it's probably the best concert I've been to. Can't wait for the next album and tour to go with that. Good review btw, you put things really well.
I think it's awesome how they've become so huge. I remember when they first started out. and all the other bands they played in before that. They really deserve this.

I saw these guys 2 times in 2010. Norwegian here, and I fucking love this album. Not sick of it and it's so intense live. But both times I saw them, they didn't play Sultans of Satan, which let me down.
Oh to add in (and to brag), I came backstage with them at one gig. They're all very hungry guys.
Good review, I pretty much agree on everything. This is a very strong debut album by Kvelertag. Doesn't matter if the music isn't very challenging because it's just simply so damn good. One of the best albums of 2010 for sure!
Kvelertak actually played actually played at my family's holiday farm in the Norwegian Mountains. Thay played in an old log-built barn while their Nordic Mythological lyrics and powerfull music rang out through the forrests. While they were playing it was as if the ancient nordic gods were awakend in rage and awesomeness and danced around the bonfire with us.
But then later me an the bass player went and played Skate.

I just discovered Hudson Mohawke's LP "Butter" and I must say it's the most interesting and inspiring album I've ever heard. I don't know if you review older stuff but you should definitely give it a listen.
Hey Anthony a quick question if you could answer it.
Why do you think that according to many music magazines/reviewers that if they where to compile a list of "greatest albums" in their opinion there is a far larger proportion of albums from the 60's then any other decade in say the top 20.
I mean obviously there is an equal chance that as great musicians come to prominence in the 70's etc etc but it is always the 60's that comes out on top. I know music is just opinion but on average......
a decent album but i think the production is a little too polished. As far as sgt. D goes, he used to be really funny but became totally irrelevant after a while with the stuff you will hate blog. we get what your'e going for, jokes over sarge.
I might check this out, in my search for 2011 music. I think you DEFINITELY review the ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of The Dead album, Tao of the Dead, I can't believe how immense this album is!
More melodic roc´n roll ala turboneger , hard punk , black metal, with melodic hooks than just a metal band - And of course other influences other than one band I mentioned. Hyped for a good reason is not the same as Elvis , britney or guns & shovels.. This band is interesting cos of the mixture , but they have their own style and sound that takes me to the viking era. The guy that wrote the melodies is a good musician - I am not a fan of the jantelaw" - as you can see :)

a decent album but i think the production is a little too polished. As far as sgt. D goes, he used to be really funny but became totally irrelevant after a while with the stuff you will hate blog. we get what your'e going for, jokes over sarge.

More melodic roc´n roll ala turboneger , hard punk , black metal, with melodic hooks than just a metal band - And of course other influences other than one band I mentioned. Hyped for a good reason is not the same as Elvis , britney or guns & shovels.. This band is interesting cos of the mixture , but they have their own style and sound that takes me to the viking era. The guy that wrote the melodies is a good musician - I am not a fan of the jantelaw" - as you can see :)
