  • Love your movements, really awesome to see you jump 2 barrels and then go down a ladder to do it again. You truly are amazing!

  • Hi Hank, I've played the NES version of donkey kong a LOT, but watching this it seems quite different. How difficult is it to get your own cabinet together? It's definitely something I'd consider in order to play the original.

  • Hi, just started playing and im addicted. Was wondering if you could share the proper info regarding what type of arcade machine/board/etc must be used to qualify a proper high score? I haven't been able to find anything regarding that on the twin galaxies website or anywhere else. Thanks!

  • @mikegmi2 here are the official twin galaxies' recording rules: bit (dot) ly/wG7o6S. I also have 3 videos on my channel which demonstrate the rules.

  • @mikegmi2 if you are going to purchase a DK machine, please be sure that the board you are using is labelled "TKG4-xx" It is the most common board, but you should check just in case.

  • Much respect to you Hank. You and Steve are both amazing. :)

  • Damn man you're like da fuckin Michael Jordan of Donkey Kong. This is one of my favorite games of all time. I wish I could play half as good as you. How much did that arcade size machine cost you?

  • Out of curiosity, how random is a typical game for you? The enemies in the final level seem to have mostly unpredictable movements. But do you feel like you can consistently predict or influence the behavior of the barrels in level one?

  • @JacobDragyn The fireballs are pretty much random. There are certain rules that they follow (for example they will not go down unless you are below them), but they are mostly random. The barrels in level 1 are pretty much not controllable. However, 33 seconds into the board, they become a little bit more controllable. If you are just starting out, you should not even hang out on that level for 33 seconds.

  • @JacobDragyn Thanks for the advice. I have the version that came in Donkey Kong 64. I don't intend to push my limits on the game, but I do appreciate how difficult DK Arcade is. I'm just glad I got the complete game, and not the port on the virtual console.

  • 07:29 bs

  • @ramonreynaldogm Can you clarify?

  • awesome awesome awesome to see! There were some really thrill seeking moments in there :D Goog luck in getting the 1,100,000! (Hopefully someone will beat your last world record first, so there is some competition again, just for the fun of it)

  • I don't know how much you might know about repairs to the cabinet. I just put a little wd40 to clean my joystick and now it's sticking in the down position. It's like not wanting to get back to neutral. I've tried bending the bars up a little but it's still sticking. Do you know anything to fix this?

  • @JoeCnNd Disregard, I had excess wd40 under the clear circular cover of my joystick and it was causing a sort of suction between the control panel and the cover holding the joystick down. Sorry about posting on this but I read you had a problem at richie knucklez like this and thought you might have seen how it was fixed. Thanks.

  • @JoeCnNd I'm not sure. Actually during the Kong Off, my joystick was sticking and they used WD40 to clean it and it worked great. Is it possible it's something else?

  • @hank804 It was the WD40 under my clear joystick protection disk. I used a damp cloth and cleaned it under that and on my control panel and it works perfect now. Some how the wd40 was causing a suction of sorts between the panel and clear circular disk. The weight of my hand was pressing the disk down and when I would go left and it kept the controller going the same direction. Thank you for replying so quick.

  • How much dis you buy the cabinet for?

  • @barneybros $400 plus another $200 for repairs

  • @hank804 wow thats a great deal

  • i love this song i have the record for it

  • This is on my bday!

  • Hank you are Awesome I Just Broke My First 100k Today for the First Time

  • Wow that is a cool technique that you do on the barrel stages getting double 300s

I'll have to try that tommorow

Highest I have gotten on the first barrel stage was 10,000 of course that was one time

  • @coolastro that's pretty awesome if you were able to get 10,000 without it. You can double jump barrels almost anywhere on the screeen, but that spot is probably the most predictable/safest.

  • oh, and can i ask what your record is for the first board? i hit 10,100 today, beating my old record of 9,300.

  • @iSmkoeBluntsToMyFace My record is 10,900. The world record is 13,300... search "perfect luck with blue barrels" by Xermon

  • hank i am a huge fan, i have learned so much just from watching you play. I have brought my score from the 120,000 range to closer to 200,000. you are not just a genius in your fields of study, you are an artist when it comes to donkey kong.

  • @iSmkoeBluntsToMyFace I'm glad I could help! Thanks for the compliment.

  • great video Hank,I like your double back technique on the second hammer for double jump points. you should try controlling the fireballs by rapidly pressing jump, I found it makes the fireballs go up an down ladders sometimes. an u should have been dead on that rivet stage!

  • Great job at the kong offs.

  • What kind of camcorder do you use?

  • It is so HARD not to rush games anymore b/c they drive ya via time limit or etc the point bashing is lost except for cabs like these! AWESOME! :)

  • Man, you're amazing at this!

Bonus Tip: Just so y'know, if there is a barrel right above you that you want to destroy with your hammer, you can stand directly under it on the second to last part of the bent girders. If you already knew this sorry for wasting your time.

  • Hank I nearly had a hart attach watching that rivet board! Well done dude!

  • One word, Skill.

  • One tough game! I managed to finish Ghosts 'n' Goblins but this game is a real tough one.

Without realizing...I believe I have the world record for Konami's 'Nemesis' (450,000 ish) and Salamander (over 1,000,000)

If I get round to it might post twin galaxies a vid. If Mr Mitchell has the record I'll just forget it lol.

  • oh man the 10 level with that fire ball on the top lucky :)

  • how often do you get over a million?

  • i just watched The King of Kong. You're awesome Hank! If there's a sequel you should star.

  • loving it. i always have a blast watching this gameplay! LOL good job dude

  • Hank, you are my idol. Great attempt, I love the whole story behind it. I'm trying to at least get a UK record from my shop here in Spalding, England. I really appreciate the fact you posted these vids and the way you edited the highlights was really entertaining. Keep up the good work and I hope to meet you in a battle one day!

  • Is this game time based? Can't he just grind on the same barrels on the same level to get an infinite high score?

  • @kwtang yes, it is time based. if you look at the upper right corner you'll see a "bonus" timer that counts down. after that hits zero, you have about 4 secs before you die. grinding barrels is actually not a great way to gain points... if you look at my points and how fast the bonus timer goes down you'll see i only break even or gain a little. even if there was no timer, grinding through barrels is not risk free and a fireball would eventually catch up to you and kill you.

  • Where was this record set?

  • @StarsOfMagic at home, but i hope to set a live score in case there are any doubters.

  • Great!!

  • Absolutely amazing. A true inspiration. Great vid!

  • Pretty intense gameplay I gotta say
