@MrMovieBrat No, violent feature films like this are not my cup of tea. Just so you know because of Kevin Gillis selling out, there won't be much in the way of new DVD releases or anymore new episodes featured on iTunes or Netflix anytime soon. So it dosen't matter how many people see this movie, the full TV series will not be released in English, nor will the specials for a very, very long time and I'm gettinmg sick and tired for listening to people like you who cannot see that!
Then you're criticizing a film you've never seen! You don't do that, man. And you know what else? The show wasn't even going to see a DVD release in the US even before Hobo With a Shotgun came along. So really, you're complaining for nothing. It's not the filmmakers' fault or Gillis. Maybe he is responsible for a US DVD release but whatever.
The point is, you're complaing for nothing. Besides, a song from a children's show used in a violent film is nothing new.
@MrMovieBrat Err yeah I can and have done that and I have the rights to do whatever the hell I want! You're completily missing my point, this was an innocent show and Gillis sold out by giving the show a negative image now because of this stupid movie. I don't care about Blu-ray releases and what not, the fillm is not my sort of film, I'm,not going to see it or promote it, but I will for the cartoon this film has raped! No thanks to it's creator.
You're judging a film without seeing it, how is that fair? And how exactly did the film give negative image to the show? Last time I checked, dozens of people seem to be okay with it even a few blogs I've read.
@MrMovieBrat Those fairweathered fans probably didn't care much for the morals the show delivered. I don't have to see this film I all readyu know from reviews from my trusted freinds that it's not a movie I enjoyed, seriously I don't like slasher movies like Grindhouse etc. The Raccoonms taught us never to use violence to solve problems, this film does the opposite and I don't care if it was for comedic effort or not. You do not do this sort of thing to a family show.
It didn't do anything harmful except introduce people to the song and the cartoon. But just so you know, the director grew up with the song which is exactly he used it. It's nostalgia.
@MrMovieBrat If he grew up on it then why the hell didn't he see that using the whole song in th credits may nhurt the friendly postive morals that The Raccoons gave. answer me that please?
@MrMovieBrat Then that's where Gillis is a moron, it has hurt some of the fans, myself somebody who used to promote the show on the BBC back in the day and several other fans, though not everyone, yes I've noticed a lot of fans are pleased by what Gillis did, but that dosen't mean to say that it was the right thing to do.
@MrMovieBrat That is what is known as irony. Aimed towards you sort of people who don't really give a damn about the cartoon that this song was used in. It was a family show and Kevin DID sell out to a amateur filmmaker who wanted to associate this song with a horrid film like Hobo With a Shotgun to which many a childhood was wrongfully raped.; So yeah I'm going to keep bashing Gillis stupid descision of him neglecting his fanbase. End of discussion!
This is not rape. Man, you have no idea how sick I am hearing that phrase. Rape should NOT be used lightly! And I may not be familiar with the cartoon (go ahead, call me an ignorant american but just so you know, I missed out on the Disney Channel airings since I was too young to see The Raccoons) but I feel you're insulting fans of the cartoon.
But go ahead, keep complaing; but someone will be laughing when discover the song and the cartoon because of the film.
@MrMovieBrat Nope the relative of my friend who used to promotethis shbow here in the UK, did see the movie and hated it. BTW did you know the film bombed in the UK anyway, it wasen't exactily a major hit anywhere else, so all that was really for nothing except to piss off loyal fans of the cartoon. Instead of getting more Raccoons released we got this,
@MrMovieBrat Chances of that happening are slim, seeing as though Gillis has dissapeared of the face of the Earth, thnaks to your pals who made this movie! That's right he up and left. Judging by this and your DA conversations you're just too busy defending this movie that hardily you mentioned the show I was defending, that really does show where your loyalties lie. If that's the case then I suggest you stop all this now, as you're noy going to change my opinion on all this!
Wha? I don't know the filmmakers, I didn't make this film. I'm not even in the film industry! And I bloody well know The Raccoons. I just never seen it in my life. Hobo is simply a film purely made for entertainment value. There is no loyalty involved, even I did have loyalty to any of the two, it'd both the film and the show. I CAN like violent films and children's cartoons.
@MrMovieBrat Fair enough, though you're not saying much about the show itself, you didn't even come up with an excues as to how this film was similar to the show or whatever, but please don't as neither property has anything in common except the use of a song it shouldn't have used. If Gillis really wanted to promote his show there were otherways of doing so, but this film now dosen't seem like it wanted to promote The Raccoons at all, so getting the show noticved through the film is nil
...I did NOT in any instance say the movie is similar to the show. Not once! And trust me, this sort of usage would get people to notice. How? Well here's an example; The Last Airbender sucked but you know what happened? Sales for the animated show on DVD were going through the roof on Amazon.
Besides, you still have the cartoon. But you know what? I give up, you don't want to listen; fine!
@MrMovieBrat That's just it! we only have part of our beloved cartoon on DVD, where's the rest?! Never to be released for a long while. Probably because some upcoming Raccoons movie was in development hell, Gillis just decided to throw this franchise away, and foresake his fans. Well I know of another talented cartoon creator who had to litarelly sell everything to get his cartoons made, Gillis didn't knowhow lucky he was to keep hold of the rights to his stuff, which now he has discarded.
Like I said , I give up. You don't want to listen but let me say this, do not blame a simple R-Rated film for the show's obscurity; I never knew it. I had to count on people who have seen it or wikipedia. But know this, for newcomers who have discovered the song and The Raccoons; they'd owe it to a Hobo with a Shotgun. That is all.
@MrMovieBrat Ans us exsisting fans will now have to suffer the consequences because of it. Every time new fans will discuss the Raccoons they'll trail off to Hobo. Which you're right isen't entirely the films fault, Gillis did most of it himself by betraying his fans all because As Long As Forever was in production hell that he decided to cut hbis losses. I admit I had my doubts about the movie but in all honesty I would have prefered it to this.
@PunkyBear36 There's something here you missed, mainly sarcasism and that people don't really seem to care that the show will probasbly not be released to the general fanbase in full for goodness knows how long.
That thing about Hobo meets Bert Raccon and what Hobo does to Bert Raccon is my same re-action of hear the ending credit theme song of The Raccons in the movie called Hobo with a shot-gun.
@David315842 Oh ok, I remember from one of your other videos that you liked watchmen though which has violent scenes in it but I guess that's a bit different
@SRPC21 Watchmen was an exception to this rule as it was based on a DC graphic novel and me and my father liked watching stuff about superheroes, which is what the Watchmen are. I don't really see the appeal of slasher/vilolent films otherwise.
@lilyturner201 Hobo With A Shotgun is a violent film of which it's producer got the rights to use the song 'Run With Us' which feels completily out of place, but proves that the Raccoons creator; Kevin Gillis is nothing but a sell out to his fans!
@SRPC21 No, I just prefer that a song used for a family show, stays with a family show. If the film had been family orintated to begin with, then fair enough, there wouldn't be an issue, however the film contains violence and gore and therefore it's a insult to a great Canadian show that hardily anyone in Canada seems to care about anymore, including it's creator and that's just sad. :(
@AtomAppleOMGizzle yeah the song is so great that the creator of The Raccoons just abandones his fans and just let's anyone use his song for cash and at the end of the day people seem not to care anymore. Gillis sold out more then his fans, but his dignity as well.
@AtomAppleOMGizzle While screwing over the current fans of the show in the process, the best way to attract new fans is just to expose the show itself, not try to promote it by inserting one of it's songs into an adult film, to me that's the best method!
I know that you did i agree with u on that that why said U no need to be.U said what u felt i wish someone would call write Kevin Gillis n put on You tube why he did n how could he the cartoons he so much created in first place!
@MrLehnerd It would be great if he did notice his fans and give us a decent release of the series, specials and the soundtrack, but who knows when or if that's ever going to happen?!
@MrLehnerd It's symbolic! As you can clearily hear from my voice and from what I mentioned on the video, I'm still dis-pleased that Gillis sold out his fans for cash. At the same time, trying to get through to these Hobo fans about it is like trying to talk to a brick wall, the majority of them just won't listen or accept that something wrong has happend, quite clearily they don't care much about anything these days. That's the point I was implying!
@David315842 Well, just be careful with how you approach others. I think you have the right to your opinion and you did make a good point. But some people might take your opinion the wrong way, and hopefully you know what to say if they decide to make an issue out of your words.
Unlike those who like Hobo with a Shotgun, I would rather watch the Grindhouse double feature and/or Machete than Hobo With a Shotgun over the footage i saw.
In today's society where the race card is over exploited for political gain and the brocore gamers is dictating the gaming community, we need more people that actually care for what's going on
One more thing, have you seen the film? Just curious.

But I'm willing to bet you would be equally upset if the song was used in say Scott Pilgrim vs. The World or a JAmes Bond flick.
