  • Be kinda funny if it was cornstarch and water...

  • i am eager to know how the lequids can protect me from bullets

  • it looks really good at dispersing energy. but i dont know if id trust that

  • Just because the bullet is stopped doesn't mean its cant still kill you.

  • Now stop it before it hits me! If you get hit by a bullet even in the chest. A lot of times you get knocked over. No matter how strong you are. The wind is gonna get knocked the fuck outta you. sure as hell beats Getting fully hit. but still hurts like a bitch.

  • cool

  • we did this in class when i was in 7th grade, lol doctor suess is what got us to do this, and it actually worked

  • stronger than kevlar... yeah and 10 times heavier

  • you dumb shit, that was a fukkin bullet!

  • Testing with a ball? Let's try a high velocity FMJ boat ail rifle round. A ball is not convincing.

  • Bookworm : (Busy reading a book on plane geometry)

Emil : (Taps on window with his Ingram MAC 10 open bolt Submachine gun - .45 ACP)

Emil : "I bet you think you’re pretty smart, huh? Think you can outsmart a bullet?"

Bookworm : (Puts on full liquid armor body suit)

Bookworm : "Ok take your best shot"

  • @passwordresetisbroke i didnt come for a lecture. i was just pointing out a spelling mistake.

  • @passwordresetisbroke yeah yeah i didnt come for a lecture

  • Loks like an anus ... :/ damn.

  • @IntensegamePlayR Yes it will

  • But does it blend?

  • its called corn starch :P

  • try a carbon nano-tube/Kevlar mesh, that would stop the bullet a lot easier, plus its lighter and stronger, carbon nano-tubes are the future of military and civil science and engineering

  • Better how? Would all of the victim's organs be crushed? Will it withstand a knive attack without a trauma panel?

  • @jayynecobb "knife". I can't type worth a shit when I'm sober

  • @jayynecobb well the way they make the armour is the 'liquid' is sandwiched between two kevlar layers (thick enough to withstand attacks, but most of the defense is done by the liquid). More effective than 100% kevlar and a quarter of the weight.

    Now comes in orange.

  • it's good only for semi-auto's but a full auto will **** it up and make the guy break dance

  • this was all just a scam to get us to listen to his shitty taste in music.. my word that was horrible

  • Maybe if they could somehow combine the water armor with kevlar.

  • you may as well send obese soldiers out on the field

  • @lilramz17 they do.

  • Or custard it's non-Newtonian too

  • I think it's simple cornstarch and water wich makes a non-Newtonian liquid and very hard to get threw even when stabbed you can drop a bowling ball from more than 100 feet on it and it will hold up until the velocity is gone then sink to the bottom

  • @monsterhunter310

Actually, from previous videos i believe it has glass material in it, just in liquid form.

  • I love how 90% of the people didn't read the description.

  • Heavy, I think we found someone to outsmart Bullet.

  • It won't even work as well as current body armor systems. What a stupid concept.. the friction of the water would make it give you a big 'punch' as well.

  • its actually designed to be used on soft skin vehicles for extra protection in close quarter situations.

  • bullet proof sure but the impact will prob kill you, did u see the indentation on that? iam sure its still being developed but damn, maybe a thin layer of kevlar with a dry layer of this in the middle would do the trick, i think the main prob here is slowing down the bullet enough upon impact to then catch it..

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this 'fluid' just polyethelene glycol? I faintly remember an experiment being done like this a few years ago that used that particlular substance and had similar results.

  • @BackTorque shhh:)

  • bet that weights a ton

  • nice but your testing it with a ball shot, just try it with one with a point and that will go through,

  • put that shit in a hundred and ten degrees and watch the molecules respond in another matter. Needs a lot more testing before I'll trust it. "Any battle-plan lasts until it sees the field."

  • fuck thought I was looking at childbirth at the start

  • gay music choise :/

  • I used to make Bullet proof grills for banks and we used alluminium instead of a hard material as soft absorbs the impact, where as harden steel will just break/crack and the bullet will go through or create more debree... And I am sure this may work for some bullets...

  • A vest filled with liquid mercury would work to stop bullets best, because it is the most dense liquid on earth. The only problem is that if it doesn't work, the mercury is toxic.

  • Dargonskin ftw :D

  • @Dorfanable

    Soldiers dont wear it.

  • @mwillis1000 some do, its not used in usa bcs of dumb beurocrats

  • @mwillis1000 i guess you ment usa by that statement?

  • @Dorfanable I've never heard of Dargonskin armour

  • @epicfail18081 Dragonscale*

  • @Dorfanable Spider web kicks dragon skins ass.

  • @3Helium3 what is the spider web?

  • @DeathGhost809 He's just referring to the fact that spider silk is one of the strongest substances on earth. It's stronger than a piece of steel the same thickness.

It would take a lot of spiders to weave a bullet proof vest though haha.

    =)

  • @kingklabe That's why they made "spidergoats" to collect silk from their milk check it out. they actually made a bullet proof face mask with it.

  • @kingklabe yea they had to make a spider farm to make enough spider silk, but i saw a video in youtube says that if the spider silk mixed with the genes of the human skin it would make a bullet proof, imagine the whole world as spiderman 8D

  • lol, I got him! he is bleading! nope, just water, btw Dragonscale ftw :D

  • the pic at 0:28 ....yea, that would break a rib and/or cause internal damage

    back to the drawing board!

  • @Gadamlu i dont think it ever came off from it..

  • Soldiers in a michelin-doll-like suit. Hahaha.

  • leaks out once shot...

  • So this video displayed what water looks like as a bullet travels through it, and that some type of plastic shit can be shot at. Good job guys.

  • Liquid armor may be good at stopping projectiles,

But basic physics tells me that Explosives + Liquid = huge concussive multiplier

Any small blast at occurs on or near the armor would cause a shock wave to pass through the armor, which in turn would kill the person wearing it.

  • wouldnt it be a lot heavier than a kevlar vest?

  • dude not stronger the bullet went so deep before it stopped, if there was someone behind that it would still almost if not kill him.

  • And that's why I'm proud to be British.

  • Let's see it stop a 50 cal bullet.

  • @uberkewlmedia a soldier is required to wear regular or standard gear so wearing this ontop would be like getting hit my a bb gun if that since this is metal 50.cal is almost like a m7 standard issue...

  • @TheTrickster626 You're an idiot.

    That's not how bullets work...

  • @holysoks1 Guns do the working. Clearly your more than an idiot than i.

  • @TheTrickster626 Actually, bullets have a physics aspect to their function.

    You complete moron.

This won't decrease the recoil to a 'bb' like impact, this will leave bruises, at the very least.

  • @holysoks1 BB guns leave bruises and im not just talking about your shitty american toy i mean real metal Gas or BB .

  • @TheTrickster626 Bruises meaning death causing internal bleeding.

You fucking moron, I'm not American, you're the one acting ignorant.

  • @holysoks1 Not american either but i know what im talking about although a regular kelvar isnt what i mean. But also it all depends on the gun. A 5.56 (Depending on the type APR , AV , RR etc) would barely touch the person in this and since the AK-47 is what you see mostly in iraq it would be the best sort of thing to wear seeing as a few tests barely dented it with the .45 .

  • @TheTrickster626 A 5.56 NATO round has more of a possibility to pierce this, smaller bullet with less drag.

  • @holysoks1 I did said type of bullet. Maybe AP's NATO but deffinatly not the things you see in the field also. Have you ever actually wore BAF's gear? or just any perticuler armour be it RAF , BAF , or SAS either they can take a solid .56 maybe the bullet will leave a sweet dent on the outer section but the inner section it really just feels like yourr getting hit by a bb gun. (Sorry if itt sems like im thee worst grammar person on eartth my keyboard is worn outt atm.)

  • probably wouldnt stop a knife either.

  • looks like it would break bones

  • not to mention, you'd look like a hippo wearing that thing, and you couldn't walk more that 20 feet before passing out.

  • Mythbusters, had an episode where the shot a .50 Cal Sniper Rifle from above the water, into a swimming pool full of water. After 8' of travel through the water, the .50 Cal bullet was completely spent of energy, and broken up into smaller pieces. This was just water! So, liquid armour must be really amazing!

  • wear kevlar under it?

  • its made of a non-nutoniom liquid it means it dosnt folow newtons laws.

  • It's the stuff inside the old Stretch Armstrong doll

  • Graphine is stronger than kevlar and this stuff, its the strongest material currently known to man. A sheet of it as thin as plastic wrap can support an elephant, its transparent, lightweight, flexible, and highly conductive to help you feel the full effect of a tazer. Cool thing is, they make it out of graphite.

  • @hifatpeople I hope you realise, that's mostly theory, although they can make it. it's tiny, and I mean TINY. it would take so much time and money to make a single piece that fits onto a man. I don't think you realise the impossibility of making it and the price, America would be even further in the debt they're already in.

  • @WeWillNotGoQuietly theyve made blocks of it bigger than 1 meter. When they develop a really good way to make it, it will be extremely cheap. I dont think you realise the possibility of making it and the abundance of the material used to make it. America would be bulletproof while appearing naked (cause its transparent) when they're in it, you cant tell bulletproof naked people they owe you money. the reason you think its so tiny is because the articles tell of how tiny they CAN make it.

  • Yes and 800% heavier...

  • Combine it with a 3DO backing and you might have something.

    Check out 3DO armor.

  • wow 10 layers of water armour, how are soldiers supposed to wear that and still move.

  • @RaidonzComedyFactory

    rolling?

  • @RaidonzComedyFactory It's "Non-Newtonian Fluids". The more pressure you apply to it the more rigid it becomes. Kevlar is essentially this same principle. With little pressure applied it's easy to bend it and so on, when you put some force against it like a bullet it becomes solid and absorbs the impact. They'll use this with more conventional systems, it's just an extra layer.

  • @RaidonzComedyFactory its a start, from there they can refine the design, they never said it was bein issued now did they.

  • @RaidonzComedyFactory errrmm... do a barrel roll lol

  • @RaidonzComedyFactory omg obviously you are not walking around wiht 10 gallons of liquid hanging around your neck. the technology works without being thick

  • @RaidonzComedyFactory maybe its not for soldiers.

  • @DoomerEX Have you looked at DragonSkin by Pinnacle Armor? That vest is capable of stopping 30+ rounds of 7.62x39, back to back with no penetration, and no bruising. Since it uses ceramic plates and are stacked on one another, the energy is dissipated around the entire vest, instead of just a small area. They gave it contractors in Iraq and those who were shot while wearing it didn't even know they had been hit until they went home and took off the armor.

  • I'm betting that would break ribs and cause internal bleeding

  • @nonamre It's the same for traditional body armor. The most it can really do for you is transfer the bullet wound into more of a bruise, but a sore arm and a nasty bruise is better than a hole in your shoulder, and is less likely to result in blood loss or permanent damage. You can't fully protect someone yet, but you can reduce the severity of injury, which is what they're aiming for.

  • @nonamre I'm betting without it, it would remove ribs and cause blood loss.

  • Condom?

  • if they keep this up they might be able to invet amour from Crysis 2.. Lol

  • Why people put noisy music on the video????

  • Design team report: We have SUCCUSSFULLY reduced the damge from a bullet down to,* clears throat* getting a pool cue shot at you from an air powerd rifle upto, but not limited too kicked by a genetically modified donkey with mike tysons DNA.

All in all Sir.. We are onto a winner...

  • Good ol knife should get past.

  • might not go thru but it seems it pushes in so far to the point where itd kill you anyway. one of my marines got hit with a rocket. ya... Sappi plate didnt break but he was pretty dead.

  • ...So this is like when the base jumpers hit the water when their 'chute doesn't open...?

  • @2cool4uification Ah, ok, didnt know >.>

  • its called D3o,a dilatant material which hardens and become dense during an impact, its shock resistant and can decrease the force of blunt traumas, well that`s my theory of the material used=)

"Im a physical chemist by the way"

  • It may be cornstarch...LOL

  • @sephiroth8210 I did some experiments with cornstarch armor about 20 years ago, for lack of the then much more expensive non-Newtonian silicones. It was surprisingly effective. As little as a bathroom-sized Dixie cup of wet cornstarch never had an exit hole from a .22LR. With dry cornstarch or water alone the rounds went in and out with little resistance. I'd guess the stuff in this video is closer to the contents of a car's viscous limited slip differential.

  • just because it doesnt penetrate doesnt mean that wouldnt hurt like hell

  • @animereviewdude yea but atleast u dont have a bullet in u

  • @animereviewdude Yea getting shot tends to have that side effect.

  • Hurt like hell or have a hole blown in your world, hurt like hell or have a hole blown in your world? Umh?

    I know which I choose!

  • @telev4me i know but i would be on my knees holding my stomach from that kind of pain giving the guy who shot me plenty of time to come over and shoot me in the head

  • @animereviewdude dude, this is not a vest ! its only stronger then kevlar..because it blends:D

  • @animereviewdude You realize standard bullet resistant vests are a soft material, not armor plated... The first bullet resistant vest was made with a special weave using silk.

  • @animereviewdude Thats what armour has always been like. You get hit in kevlar it still hurts. It was the same back in medieval times. A warhammer could kill a man even if he was wearing a full suit of plate armour ;)

  • @animereviewdude gigatty

  • @animereviewdude well i rather make it hurt like hell rather then be dead ;\

  • @animereviewdude The liquid solidifies under extreme friction...is the easyest way to say it. but when the bullet hits the liquid reacts to the action of the bullet.

the force of the bullet is dispersed throughout the entire "chest Piece" (since it is a liquid) causing the liquid to harden and send to force through out the body rather then jsut one spot.

Like laying on a bed of nails is less hazardous then stading.

LOL i hope that made any sense!

  • @animereviewdude If they put a layer of FMJ inside or just a simple plate you would feel jack shit

  • @TheTrickster626 It would still get you down because of the impact force...

But you would be able to get back up and keep fighting, since there's no penetration.

    Always better than nothing indeed.

  • @Seallie Well not entirlyy , If we ever get to the stage where we have the technolodgy to completely reduce impact of a bullet which is only 3 years away , a duo layer of kelvar would reduce the bullet impact by shit loads. Basiclly impact from a regular 45. would be like getting poked. and if they put dragon skin under this it probably be less.

  • Comment removed

  • @Seallie I see what you mean , allthough they usually gave HAM (heavily armeed material xD HAM) to well built people so all and all we had some of the best soldiers on the feild but it was quite slow.

  • @animereviewdude If your wearing a kevlar it still hurts but most of all water obsorbs and distinguish shockwaves better than hard material

  • @animereviewdude The liquid would disperse the force very effectively. The problem I would think would be weight and momentum, maybe even sound.

  • @animereviewdude yeah probably die anyways haha

  • hmm should be heavy.. maybe for guys who drive stuff

  • Damn, That would smash your ribs to piece's!

hen two of your guys would have to carry you to safety putting the multiple at risk!

Then all three of you would get shot and the rest of your multiple.

I think the scientists are a bit confused!

  • @jiffty1 Did you read the description? It stated it is not to replace kevlar but to work in conjunction with it.

  • i might jus take the bullet by the looks of the incredible shock you'll get either way looks like yod be on the ground for a long time lol

  • @jicey420 ye i mispelled you'd......

  • so one shot and your armor starts pouring out?

  • But Who's Gunna Want To Use Liquid As An Armor ?

  • to jimmyhoffa....no offense but the reason your buddy got his leg blown off is because he failed in that moment. Not gods failt it was his and the people with him aswell that didnt follow protical in the hear, see department...sooo stfu plz.

  • It looks like a penetrated bumhole :/

  • It probably would still hurt like hell getting shot, but if you're alive you can't complain i guess :b

  • @madman2u you get a damned big bruise and it shakes your armour if its not strapped tight, but yeah its better than dying

  • Was it tested with armor piercing rounds?, does it respond fast enough and stop the bullet before it goes trough?

  • @forramelagalleta if it did go through they'd just use more layers. you need hard armour to stop AP anyway

  • @jimmyhoffa9

More layers will bulk up, and for it, they should try with slanted angle plates, u know, funnel type of thing so the impact of the bullet gets diverted instead of hitting dead on.

    U get me?

  • cornflower and water

when you hit it it goes hard

this is the same sort of thing

the harder you hit it the hard it becomes

not realy good for body armour i might add

  • @lekoro1

You're wrong bro, first it needs to get hard, then u can hit something ,,lol

  • @forramelagalleta

    ummmm... what?

  • @lekoro1 if you did it right it would work. just maybe something better than cornflower

  • @jimmyhoffa9

    that what i meant D:

  • @lekoro1 in my opinion i think its great for body armor yet it may have its pros and cons

  • @XMRGrizzlyX

ah sorry i meant cornflower and water isnt good for body armour

  • God is the best armor :))

  • @Go2thebeach69 He wont help If you aint wearing shit and get shot.

  • @Go2thebeach69 ill trust rifle plates more. my buddy had his leg blown off, so either god does f*ck all or he really hated that my buddy(who went on to become a priest)

  • @jimmyhoffa9 lol ur heart is callous. so basically what im saying, because somthing didnt go ur way, ur gonna blame God. if God was out there, what authority do u have to complain to him? if He's not out there than complaining to somthing that doesnt exsist is stupid also.

  • @FishTurd69 im not blaming god at all. im saying he makes suckish ballistic protection.

  • spider silk is stronger than kevlar and than this youghurt stuff

  • @MustangGTR2 Sure.. they're gunna get all that silk right? Tiny threads from spiders? Thousands of soldiers? Dont think so.

  • @xDanLoL yep thats the problem "availability of the material" and formability but its stronger than those I mentioned.and has a greater toughness

  • @xDanLoL Actually scientist in china has splice the spider silk gene into silk worm. thus creating a creature capable of producing a lot of spider silk.

  • @MustangGTR2 only if tight woven wraps. they could literally wrap themselves in platinium or something for the cost though and to make it stronger than kevlar it cant be in sheets

  • @MustangGTR2 silk might be stronger than kevlar in some ways, i know kevlar is better in some of the tests to find material strenght. otherwise why would US and the armies be using kev rather than silk...

  • @FishTurd69 like tensile strenght ? compresion strenght ? what about toughness module (impact strenght big requirement for vests)?or resilence ? or fracture toughness ?

  • @MustangGTR2 yeah u get the idea...

  • Yes it may be stronger but they are forgetting that the momentum is still going to be great and if it will be used as protection It may very well still kill some one cause of such great impact

  • @jmpj349 nah it'll spall. i've been hit with a 7.62 and the momentum didnt kill me or knock me over, it just sort of rocked by armour. they use trauma plates to absorb the momentum(only if it doesnt spall)

  • @LUVBBWify are you high again?

  • moral of the story: of you shoot a fat person they might not fall

  • This is all well and good, but there's tremendous momentum that a bullet carries. All somebody needs to do is make a bullet with a bigger mass and this protection is obliterated -- no explosives necessary.

  • the secret formula is corn starch with water...=)
