  • I also remember when the likes of Hank Lochlin, Hank Snow, Don Gibson and Conway were so popular in the UK. THIS is country music!! Great, love it.

  • Do we have a date. It was this type of Country that was so popularin the UK., today's 'stuff' seems a pale but almost discordant shadow. Thank you.

  • How cool is this! Absolutely brilliant

  • A great version of a great song.

  • They were always so SHARP looking with those matching stage suits...real class all the way.

  • Country as it should be -Not todays' crap

  • I remember hearing them sing this on the Grand Ole Opry when I was a child...Good memories...

  • What is the mans name anouncing the artists ive seen him on many other videos and such much obliged

  • @TheMichaelsquid Merle Kilgore

  • This is truly a classic country song. RIP Carl ^ Pearl. You are greatly missed!!!

  • That's my great uncle there. My grandfather has that outfit of his & his guitar at his house. They're awesome to see in real life.

  • The good old country music days....today's country not worth listening too,

Thanks to youtube and the people who post these awesome videos of the past...

  • this is one of the songs that my mom would listen to back when I was little/younger : )

  • Love the Aunt Bee hair on Pearl(so 60's)and Carl sure could belt out a tune...

  • Carl and Pear Butler !!!!! It just doesn't get any better than this. I would actually attend concerts in my area IF they could provide music like this but sadly it just isn't going to happen. Thank goodness for U tube.

  • To those of you who think only TIm McGraw,Tatylor Swift,Rascal Flatts,Kenny Chesney, and the like is what country music is,consider this song an education on what purists are supposed to be.

  • @landrykkb Well said!!!!

  • @landrykkb Taylor Swift*

Thanks, and I'm 38 years old and saying that.I also grew up in the 80's in the midst of the MTV generation as well and developed a liking for traditional country in later years whereas I had taken it for granted in my youth.

  • @landrykkb Hi ,Trouble is people new to country, believe that Taylor Swift is country, and if Nashville says they are country that is what people will believe.

I watched the duet,2 female singers, and my ears couldn't take any more.

I can see how Taylor appeals to teenagers ,good enough voice, beautiful and commercial, but not a country singer.

  • I always play this for my auntie ...I'm 20 years old ..but does this song ever remind me of growing up.

  • No one can sing that song as well as Carl & Pearl. While I listened to this song I was so vividly taken back to being a young child playing my Mom's albums on the record player & remembering how much happier the music made our home. Thanks so much for sharing.

  • Believe it or not, I just found a vid on YouTube in my opinion that's as good as this one. Type in "Harden Trio - "Tippy Toeing" 1967" it's real country also.

  • BOY, THAT WAS GREAT !

    GREAT COUNTRY MUSIC !

    THANKS A MILLION !

  • This is great!! I love it.!!

  • This is the way Country music is supposed to sound.

  • @craps2010 This is what we called Country and Western when we were kids.

  • @craps2010 That's what Gram Parson thought too.

  • @SkeeterNYC Make that Parsons!

  • @craps2010 I agree 100%

  • @craps2010 And look! God, the costumes, lol I love them.

  • This song so scarry that is close to true life for me.

At times I see that in her eyes.

  • These were the good old country songs that were a lot of fun to dance to!

  • country as country should be thanks for sharing

  • Music in America sea to shinning Sea

  • A #1 hit for Carl Butler and Pearl on the Country & Western charts. It was the 61st #1 C&W hit of the Rock Era.

  • What a talented couple.

    Five Stars from Rose.

  • Golly,their voices are blessed by the Spirit.True C&W!

  • Their outfits are absolutely gorgeous (Nudie?). The color film is great quality. This is what country music should be like. That garbage they put out today isn't even close.

  • This is real country music. It's sad what is coming out of Nashville today. They could take some lessons from music like this.GOD BLESS and GOD BLESS AMERICA.

  • What show is this from? It looks like the same set as that Pete Drake video?

  • @OhioJamz The film is called: "Second Fiddle to a Steel Guitar"

  • @Gatorrock787 who's the dude in the gold suit

  • @butcrak57 Merle Kilgore. He co-wrote "Ring of Fire" with June Carter. He also worked with Hank Williams as sort of a tour manager.

  • @Gatorrock787 Merle was also Bocephus' manager until the day he passed.

  • @OhioJamz Who cares? It the best there ever was

  • Howard White is the steel guitar player.Sadly all three are now deceased.

  • its uncanny how much Mr. Carl looks like my dad when dad was younger.

  • Love this song. Songwriters in country music today arent as good as the country pioneers like these above. This song has more feeling in two sentences as all the crap Toby Keith (or any of these other idiots we have on the radio now) has ever written.

Look at how pretty Mrs. Pearl's smile is at the end of the second song, lol. Love these two.

  • I have the movie this clip is from, amazing seeing them on tv with those great outfits and great sound system, they could really sing

  • Carl and Pearl were such a blessing to the world. I am truly astounded every time I listen to this. Thanks for posting Gator!

  • One of my all time dueos. Great!!
