  • Hey, "plantains" or "platanos" are both right! "Plantains" is in French and English and "Platanos" is in Spanish.

  • well there called plantains in english and i dont speak spanish! so i call them plantains. And by the way, is plantains Bananas i see them in the suppermarket the plantains are bigger then banana's so are they different then bananas

  • They are different, because platanos are starchy like potatoes.

  • instead of corn oil is it ok to use vegetable oil or will that just ruin the dish

  • vegetable oil is what we use, I'm PR and my hubby's Colombian. It still tastes deelish!

  • A different kind of bananas called Plantain. It is more rustic and not edible without being previously cooked.

    Green bananas work in a similar way... but are not as good as plantains.
