  • Wow, Roy vs Broduer...how about Roy vs Gretzky, oh yeah, that happend in 1993. Anyone who thinks Patrick Roy sucks is an idiot. Brodeur is amazing, but Roy will always be the best.

  • Patrick Roy Should play for montreal 1 more time ;DDD

  • I don't want to keep repeating myself, but I would like to say something to all the people who think Brodeur is better than Roy. WHY???? because he has 70 more regular season wins than Roy. You know what is really funny is that there is a nice huge fact that all you Broduer fans seem shy away from, and it is since 2003, 8 straight years ever since Brodeur lost his all star defence crew Broduer and the Devils have not advanced past the 1st round in the playoffs. Now that is funny.!!!!!!

  • Seriously people, who cares about Marty's 600+ regular season wins? What matters is Roy's 151 playoff wins and 3 Conn Smythe compared to Marty's 98 playoff wins and 0 Conn Smythe. Judging by those numbers I think Brodeur's 5-iron has come to more use than Patrick's (as a remark to DevilsFreak17's comment).

Also, Roy won the cup in 3 different eras of hockey while Brodeur won his cups behind the same kind defence system with limited shots and scoring chances night in and night out.

  • You guys know nothing about Roy story...The real problem weren't the fans. He wasn't really having great relations with the head coach. Every single practice, they were arguing and screaming at each other. One day, he decided to get everything out of his heart by playing the game against Detroit which he did let in 9 goals out of 26 shots. Fans problems was like..10-20% of his problems.

The hardest place to play hockey is in Montreal, every movement is counted

  • roy is a douche...great player but a even bigger douche. brodeur is one of the finest sportsmen ever and a the best in history

  • Look at how big his equipment is, holy shit.

  • Awesomee!! Best goalie ever! I don't care about how everyone thinks Brodeur's the best. Ok, he is great but then, look at his team?? He had quite a team. Unlike Roy in Montreal.. Everyone depended on him..

Plus: he has 3 Conn Smythe trophies.. How many does brodeur have? None!

  • @6894samgem brodeur didn't need a conn smythe, he has 600+ wins, 3 cups. roy has the same amount of cups, but i heard roy's 5-iron was pretty good back in the day...

  • @DevilsFreak17 Granted, Brodeur has 600+ wins, but he had a great team. Roy had no one to depend on in his team(except when he got to Colorado where he had Sakic). Plus, the playoffs is what really matters.

  • @6894samgem that's why roy isn't as good, he played on crappy teams

  • @6894samgem in colorado he had lots of people. sakic, forsberg, hedjuk, foote, blake and others.

  • @6894samgem I would say Broduer is a good solid 2nd. I think we could all agree. Like Roy gets 9000/9000 points and Marty has 8700/9000..you know? Close enough.

  • @6894samgem You're right, Brodeur has no Conn Smythe trophies, but I guarantee you that without him, the Devils wouldn't have won any of their 3 cups. In '03, they gave the Smythe to Giguere due to his incredible performance in a losing cause (and I fully agreed with that btw) but the most deserving Devil of the Conn Smythe that year was Brodeur.

  • @6894samgem Brodeur is nowhere NEAR Roy but what about Hasek? I think he deserves to at least be in the argument.

  • @MacroFuzzXD You're right.. Hasek is one of the best goalies of all time, along with Sawchuk and Plante. But I still think Roy is the best of them all. The way he carried his team when he was in Montreal was just amazing.

  • did he ever become a good goalie

  • @theolkid

lol, he's retired now. And is one of the best in the NHL history.

  • @AzNightmare ye ai no im a die hard habs fan god damn i wish they had of not of lost him wed have a few more cups

  • Marty played long.

  • #2 behind marty.

  • brodeur and roy are my favorite goalies of all time. its nice to see brodeur breaking roys records.

  • i think roy is better but sorta a different error

  • @cuff1957

Roy > Brodeur. Best clutch goaltender of all time

  • @octavarium23 marty #1 patrick ROOOOOOOOOYYYYYY #######222222

  • @cuff1957

    2001 Cup Finals.

    Roy > Brodeur.

  • @cuff1957 you dont get iy young fella roy is #2 behind marty the records speak for themselves, great goaltender, but he is #2 thats all

  • @cuff1957 Roy is better than Brodeur, no doubt about it.

The only people who think Marty is better are biased NJ Devils fans or hockey fans too stupid to realize that Brodeur only got his records due to having All-star level defencemen with him every year of his career.

  • @aspectra do you think any all=star defenceman ever played in front of the quitter, and hall of fame defenceman yes,its not just the fans from new jersey who think he is #1 guess what the record books also say it to,and i still believe ken drydon was better than roy six cups in seven years.

  • @cuff1957 Bourque is the only Hall of Famer Roy had on his roster. Although Bourque was still good, it didn't compare to having people such as Scott Stevens, Phil Houseley and countless others in the absolute prime of their careers.

  • @aspectra did a little homework, here is my view chelois, larry robinson, sveboda, gingras, desjardins, dufresne, schneider, daigneault, odelein, cote, brisebois, ramage, charron, malakhov, popovic, rivet, quintal, colorado blake, bourque, foote, krupp, miller, belak, messier, klemm, gusarov, devries, morris, kasparaitis, marty never had defence like these guys in front of him, know you do your homework.

  • @cuff1957 Well, Marty played with a defense-first team his entire career. To be honest, I think Marty is a better goalie. Roy and Brodeur both has the same skill in my opinion, but it comes down to Martin being able to play more games than him a year, and still be consistent EVERY game.

  • @christof909 its funny how you only mention how many more regular season games marty won. how about playoffs??has he won more playoff games than Roy?? do you have any idea when the last time Marty has adavnced past the first round in the playoffs??? So what makes Marty better than Roy?? Please explain

  • @polostarz A cup ring doesnt show how good a player is. It shows how good a team was. If that is what you are trying to say; it doesnt make sense.

  • @christof909 all there is to say is this

    Roy -- 4 cups, 3 MVP's 151 wins

    Broduer -- 3 cups , 0 Mvps , 98 wins

Roy beats out Marty in Game 7 to win the cup in 2001 ( also on MVP that year)

Sorry to say but this is Marty last year and just because he ends up with 60 or 70 more regular season wins than Roy it will never make him greater. Ever since Marty lost his all star defense crew back in 2003 he and the devils have never past the first round...even Marty will tell Roy is better

  • @polostarz You just solidified what I said. Marty lost his all-star defence in 03, a cup is only as good as a team.

When it comes down to play-off performances, thats different.

  • @polostarz who cares about awards hockey is a team sport and you can't compare the two goalies cus they are two different people with totaly different styles

  • @polostarz marty has more wins then roy... not 98... and thiers this thing called the shutout record.....and Olympic golds....

  • @polostarz Also, Roy didn't cheat on his wife with her sister. The worst thing he ever did was demand a trade after being brutalized by Montreal fans.

  • @polostarz 1 year later..Marty still in the net.

  • Patrick WAAAAAAAHHH

  • first the worst, second the best!
