The Barge sounds are good, but how about another version with one of your hypnotic bent soundtracks? Maybe incorporate some of the barge sound itself. Variations on a barge?

that strange motor sound rattling . mmmm.goodness.
would have been sweet if Billy Ocean was on deck singing carribean queen while the barge passed on by. all that fog.
