According to IMdB, Michael Madsen had difficulty filming this scene. He and the actor playing the cop worked together to help develop each others character. When the cop says "I got a little kid at home," it hit home for Madsen because he had a young baby at home too. The thought of killing a man and leaving a child fatherless caused Madsen to be so upset he had to take a short break from filming before finishing the scene.
madsen is awesome on big brother..the funniest most honest housemate of all time...hes telling all the idiots and the plastic women exactly where they stand...nice to see a man with the backbone to be allowed to have an opinion on mainstream tv. and everything hes said is 100% ...when asked whos the best actor he said in front of them "theyre all actors in here I assure you." he called denise welch an abomination(she has been) he told another HM Ive used up all my facial expressions on you lol
whatever happened to tarantino? he even made george clooney(the martini guy) look bad-ass ... this movie is still about his best ever imo ... the kill bills were a bit ott but very entertaining ... who wouldnt want to torture a cop like that huh ? or did you never get hit or frisked or arrested just because they can?
@redflsot he's not sold out, only did it because his friend vinnie jones said that it was a laugh and that he should do it. He's havin a hard time on the show and I think he wants to go.
I love the camerashot from 2:58 how he goes outside into a sunny world with kids laughing, takes the gas can, and then goes back, music swelling up again, back into that hell inside, all in one shot.
@Cla900 No liking this scene does not make you a child killer and see if I commented anything to that affect, but you ARE sick for liking it AND thinking it's funny. What the hell does "worse violence" mean, I guess it's not so bad, I've seen similar stuff in the barber shop, maybe you have an ear get cut off occasionally don't you? Point is I re-watched the movie not long ago and it's good, but first time I saw it this part COMPLETELY made me lose interest. And I still see why!!
you're totally blowing this out of proportion ... i like this scene, ok? it's a classic - the directing is supurb.
and you're twisting my words. i never said liking this scene MAKES me a child killer, i just said calling me a nutjob is a bit extreme because i'm NOT a 'rapist' or 'child murderer'. i'm an 18 year old girl for christs sake.
and just because you find this movie slightly distraught, doesn't mean the world has to as well.
@Cla900 :D I didn't twist your words I was making an example of you twisting mine. No the "world" is sick enough as it is that's why this can be amusing or enjoyable to some people
@Cla900 I think I'd only make sense to you if you tried cutting my ear off, and I would in fact pass on that. What part of sick twisted fuck don't you understand, maybe you enjoy torture for torture's sake, which is sick, and if you are aware of that, why can't you stand someone confronting you with it? what's the big deal?
sorry i was reading the wrong comment..the last one you post i completely understand.
and i'm pretty positive i would react in a different way if this scene was REAL, which it isn't.
this is a god damn movie. if i saw someone chopping off a cops ear in person, the words i'd use wouldn't be 'classic', 'amusing' (referring to his dancing) or 'great directing' as i did before.
jesus
and i'm pretty sure that goes for the majority of these commenters...
and what i find funny is what you said in your original comment -
'This is SICK tarantino is a fucking CRIMINAL for making this and anyone that likes it is SICK'
why bother having anything to do with the movie whatsoever if you hate it that much? you're not going to change anyone's perception by posting such a stupid statement.
calling tarantino a criminal? no.

Respond to this video... Pedophiles An Rapists Should Be Hung On National Television An Everyone Should Be Forced To Watch And There Wouldnt Be As Many Out There...Especially Repeat Offenders
This movie was beyond great. It makes me love men even more. I'm a girl all for these kind of movies, makes me want to be an actress in one of Tarantino's films.
I can't listen to this song anymore without thinking of Reservoir Dogs. Over the last couple of days, when it's come on the radio, I think of this scene...
@rjplamf61 i agree, Pesci was brilliant cos beforehand id have not thought to cast him to play Tommy (Goodfellas) or Nicky (Casino). his charachters were 100% believable . great movies
@Noinipoim Personality really doesn't matter, most people in Hollywood are arrogant douchebags, I don't like Christian Bale as a person, but I massively respect his acting ability, I really don't like Tarantino as a person at all, but he is a fine director and writer.
@TheProducerPeople Stanley Kubrick completely misses the point of every book that he adapts. A clockwork orange and The Shining. He thinks if you make a film bizzare its unique and interesting, everybody holds him in high regard, but hes no Tarantino or Scorsese.
@RhaegarTargaryen1884 You're done. The Shining wasn't as good as the book, but A Clockwork Orange was. How did he miss the point of that one, anyway? Yes, he gave it his own twist (he's Stanley Kubrick, not the Coen brothers), but the theme behind it all was still very much in tact. Lolita wasn't as good as the book because, well, it was based on the greatest book ever written. Oh, and in case you were unaware, Reservoir Dogs is pretty much an homage to Kubrick's 1st masterpiece The Killing.
@Mowglieboy69 He missed the point of A Clockwork Orange in the sense that he did not make Alex choose to be good, which was the point of the story, that he became good by choice in the end also it seemed asthough he was glamourising the violence even though its an anti-violent film. And i think that Reservior Dogs is a better film than The Killing, Tarantino may be a Kubrick fan but I am not. What did you mean by you're done by the way?
@RhaegarTargaryen1884 I think he mispelled the word "Dumb", oh the irony, it hurts, and he's wrong, Reservoir Dog's is a homage to the heist genre, not The Killing, but the bank robbery scene in The Dark Knight is a homage to The Killing, but that's another story.
@RhaegarTargaryen1884 The entire point of the movie was to make you, the viewer, choose what to think of the events unfolding on screen. That was the point of the glamourisation of the violence. That, plus, as I said, Kubrick will be Kubrick (in the very same sense as Tarantino will be Tarantino as far as stylized violence is concerned). You're entitled to think that Reservoir Dogs is better than The Killing, but you can't deny that it was greatly influenced by it in many ways.
@RhaegarTargaryen1884 And you're entitled to that opinion, I absolutely love Scorsese, but my problem with Tarantino is that all his films are more-or-less tributes to classic genres, now you can't go saying that 2001 and Full Metal Jacket aren't masterpieces in their own right.
@TheProducerPeople I do like Full Metal Jacket. And all films are tributes whether they want them to be or not. All directors will be influenced in some way, like everyone else they are products of their enviroment.
A boyfriend of mine told me about this scene as well as several other people, so when I finally saw it, I was so scared in anticipation that I started giggling. My boyfriend thought I was a monster, but how else can you deal with this shit.
@McLarenMercedes I agree(: Perfect Psycho. But see.....he knew the others really wouldn't give a shit if he killed the cop. Remember at the end of the movie when Nice Guy Eddie was told Mr. Blonde was going to kill the cop by Mr. Orange......Nice Guy Eddie shot the cop right there.....basically saying he didn't give a fuck, he'd rather have Mr. Blonde alive.
Well, Mr. White did argue with the others Mr. Blonde was trouble since he started shooting up people needlessly as they were robbing the bank. It's clear Mr. Pink doesn't like him either but he keeps up a mask of professionalism until they sort the bigger mess they are in out. Had he just shot the cop they would be annoyed enough, but accepted it on his account. Burning one would only re-inforce the idea Mr. White had that he was a loose cannon.
Also the reason Nice Guy Eddie shoots the cop is because they already know that cop knows nothing about who betrayed them. On top of that the cop has seen ALL their faces, so if he is released he can identify them later. Even if Mr. Blonde never had tortured him and if Mr. Orange hadn't shot Mr. Blonde dead, Nice Guy Eddie would still have shot the cop. If anything he is annoyed the team wasted their time with some random cop instead of sticking to the plan and let Joe Cabot sort it
@McLarenMercedes Yes....I know(: I agree with everthing you said. But you said you wondered how he intended to explain it to the others......I was just saying that he probably knew the others would not care. But you're right!(:
Around 4:53, something comes up and smacks the cop in the face. Does anybody know what it is or where it's coming from? Is it a mistake, or is it intentional? I can't figure it out.
it doesn't matter that's it's on the radio it's style film noir what better way to have a scene with music in the background.. than to have the music a part of the scene. that's just cool, like this song.
@topbluffa1 What are you talking about, dumbass? He didn't know it would be on. He just happened to know this song. He asked "Have you ever listened to K-Billy's super sounds of the 70's?" That's the station, not the song. God damn.
Tarantino's gem, better than Pulp Fiction, better than Kill Bill, better than Inglorious Basterd's, the best film he ever made and probably ever will make.
@TheProducerPeople better than Pulp Fiction and definitely better than Inglorious Bastards. But I would say that Kill Bill: Volume 1 is his best work ever. Yes, I do consider it to be a different movie than Kill Bill: Volume 2.
@SitarHero8988 Personally, I prefer Volume 2 to Volume 1, but, it's just something about Reservoir Dog's that gets me, I think I'm just a sucker for Tim Roth and Steve Buscemi.
@TheProducerPeople I love Inglorious Basterds sooo incredibly much, but you are the only other person I know who agrees the Reservoir Dogs is better, even if just a tiny bit, than Pulp Fiction and even Kill Bill(:
@TheProducerPeople well although i don't agree full with you i think it's easy all those films will go down in history as some of the best films in american cinema
@Linkzcap Yeah. This movie is awesome but Pulp Fiction has probably some of the best writing of all time and Kill Bill is just so stylish. All of Tarantino's movies are classics in my book though.
@Linkzcap And that's your opinion, I don't like Pulp Fiction as much because it relies too much on popular culture of that time period, making it harder to understand as time goes on, Reservoir Dog's is timeless though in the fact that it's popular culture references are either explained by the character's or entertained by funny dialogue, and Kill Bill volume. 2 was the only good Kill Bill, volume. 1 I didn't like.
Mr Blonde asking you if you listen to K-Billy's Sound of the 70's is like Jules Winnfield asking you if you read the bible. Either way, you're fucked.
Damn good looking dude when he was younger.

@topbluffa1 What are you talking about, dumbass? He didn't know it would be on. He just happened to know this song. He asked "Have you ever listened to K-Billy's super sounds of the 70's?" That's the station, not the song. God damn.
IcyHot311 7 months ago
@IcyHot311
sounds like a radio show ....
and if u listen he tuned it in like a radio........
topbluffa1 7 months ago
@IcyHot311

Tarantino's gem, better than Pulp Fiction, better than Kill Bill, better than Inglorious Basterd's, the best film he ever made and probably ever will make.
TheProducerPeople 7 months ago 58
@TheProducerPeople better than Pulp Fiction and definitely better than Inglorious Bastards. But I would say that Kill Bill: Volume 1 is his best work ever. Yes, I do consider it to be a different movie than Kill Bill: Volume 2.
SitarHero8988 7 months ago
@SitarHero8988 Personally, I prefer Volume 2 to Volume 1, but, it's just something about Reservoir Dog's that gets me, I think I'm just a sucker for Tim Roth and Steve Buscemi.
TheProducerPeople 7 months ago
@TheProducerPeople I love Inglorious Basterds sooo incredibly much, but you are the only other person I know who agrees the Reservoir Dogs is better, even if just a tiny bit, than Pulp Fiction and even Kill Bill(:
IcyHot311 7 months ago
@TheProducerPeople Respectfully disagree sir. I like all of them though.
gcard2112 7 months ago
@TheProducerPeople I haven't seen Kill Bill but those other two movies top Reservoir Dogs.
FatherTime89 7 months ago
@TheProducerPeople well although i don't agree full with you i think it's easy all those films will go down in history as some of the best films in american cinema

@TheProducerPeople Well said, my friend.
AgentDuckMan 6 months ago
@TheProducerPeople Hey it was good but this does not beat Pulp Fiction/Kill Bill in my book.
Linkzcap 6 months ago
@Linkzcap Yeah. This movie is awesome but Pulp Fiction has probably some of the best writing of all time and Kill Bill is just so stylish. All of Tarantino's movies are classics in my book though.
thelatestttplague 6 months ago
