@Tblackknight its not on the album, its not even from the smae year, paperback write was released in 1966 as a single and was recorded during the sessions for revolver
We got this album as a Christmas present. So it gained strong nostalgic impact for that reason. We played it along with Ray Coniff's "Talk of the Town" album, which earlier had become an X-mas album with precedent nostalgia. Today, though, I'd say Lennon's "In my Life" is the core of Rubber Soul. Our version didn't have "Nowhere Man" on it. The album seemed to combine European and Western motifs. I thought "I've Just Seen a Face" was on Rubber Soul. Guess not.
@ecnerwaletmis Not all metal bands. Regular heavy metal is brilliant. Speed metal and progressive metal are also fantastic.
It's death metal and black metal that sounds painfully unlistenable. And it gets worse than that when it comes to metal but I don't want to name anything...
@ecnerwaletmis You can't generalise all of metal with 'screech and growl'. The genre provides some of the finest guitar and drum work ever recorded. It requires talent.
this certainly one of the beatles' finest albums. i think i've just listened to it one time too many! the only criticism i might have of this album is that it is almost too slick. Rubber Soul reminds me a bit of Abbey Road. what's the term? "tightly constructed." very polished. a superior effort, nonetheless. :)
I recall when this album was released and at the time it was revolutionary. As time has passed it remains the best album by the Fabs although Revolver might be a very close second place. This is a pivotal piece of work by the greatest Rock group in history. Music hits primal nerve endings, and for those of us who lived through the entire 1960s, this LP is a major touchstone. Thanks Ringo and Sir Paul (and George and John, wherever you are) for giving us your creativity and voices.
@londy1887 I'd say Rubber Soul was the greatest album of all time... when it came out in 1965. Then along came Revolver... although I'm probably not the best person to have an opinion on this, since I was born in 1992... unfortunately... but yeah this is unquestionably one of the best rock albums ever made. It feels like the birth of rock music.
the total influence of this band is mind boggling.......,the best?....the greatest?????/ hard to say with all the different tastes....for me ?...the best.........
Saw an old video interview with late Beatle producer George Martin and he mentioned this album as "the one" which turned rock and roll from just dancing music to listening music. So true. Beatles were amazing. Of course sometimes good partnerships come to an end. Luckily the younger folks (I'm 48 now) still listen to the Beatles and hope their grandkids will.
Sgt Pepper was my first album from my parents when I was 11, from there on I go all the albums from the beatles before I listened to anything else. The magical thing about the Beatles is that there music becomes better with the years like a damn good wine. I think God is the fifth Beatle!
There are many people that have tried to make this world a better place but they have either died trying, let it go to their head, or gave up. The only way one person can really start to make a difference is by learning the truth and living it in every way possible. Truth is more than an idea, it is an expression and an experience. To learn more about truth, Google "truth contest" to read the top entry "The Present".
Along with White album, Sgt. Pepper's..., Revolver and Abbey Road- Rubber soul is the first brilliant Beatles album. All five have place in the first 20 great rock albums of all times. Biased ? Yes, it was love from the first sight and ...hearing, it has been 35 years now since then. Forever Beatles !!!
thanks for posting this. i have spent the day listening to the beatles stuff on youtube and it's awesome. i still have a couple of them to go. so, in appreciation for sure. la
@RideMyF150 dude, we talking different styles here, you need to appreciate both, they are not in competition with each other. I am sure Cobain like some of the early beatles stuff.
@RideMyF150 Oh snap, this guy is calling me out. What should I do? Ah well I guess I could just go with a classic 'ahh you kids these days, can't appreciate real music!' (though I'm only 15). Yeah I wouldn't mind you saying you like Nirvana (they're pretty good), but dissing the Beatles, you kids these days, you can't appreciate real music. Your music these days have to have the distortion all the way up, and the singer screaming into the microphone.
@ImDavidGurney John Lennon didn't like releasing singles from albums. He felt that it made people pay twice for music. Personally I agree. Singles are just a way to make more money, or at least they where back then.
@IAMTHEWITCHMAN The anticipation of waiting for the new Beatles albums over the years has never been matched by anything released in the last 40 years. Esp @ Christmas. The White album was it.
@IAMTHEWITCHMAN i would say that but then theirs revolver which is almost the same thing .... they were gonna make it into a double album and put revolver and rubber jul together that would been a huge album
@IAMTHEWITCHMAN ehh I mean the Beatles are amazing.. but there are better songs than others on this album.. so I wouldn't call it the best album ever recorded.. but that is just me.
@99jollyrancher rubber soul, best POP album, revolver, best rock n'roll album, sgt pepper is both rock n'roll and pop so that is the greater one of their 5 best albums. As for best song...well You just can't decide for the beatles, but I like within you without you
Watching the Anthology and the remaining three talking about how they came up with ideas, just shows how normal they were. We always put them high above us, which they are in musical talent, but still just humans trying to think up new ways to deliver their music. Wonderful time to live with them in it! Love love love the Beatles! This album came out when I had my first real love who bought it for me. Was almost too insightful, and he died leaving me lonely. ;( So many memories. :)
@HTprods I agree with you, but at the same time I'm going against that because I don't have the money to buy this. I'm saving up to get the box set. :) You're not a scumbag though. @jezt87 was just being stupid for criticizing a valid Beatles fan. He'd probably criticize John, Paul, George and Ringo if he could.
Thank you! I was going through my iPod and realized I had every Beatle album ever made on it except this one and I was like "holy crap! I've gotta listen to it now!!!!!" and I did thanks to you! :D
As truly excellent as this album is, I must say that it's not as excellent as 'Revolver'-- the UK version. I'd say Rubber Soul is my 3rd or 4th favorite, though
@obscuredbyclouds100 it's impossible to end suffering. it's a fundamental part of human existence. we can try to keep it to a minimum, but we all experience it, and so much of it is inevitable.
hunger and war are things that have existed since there has been humanity, and there seem to be no end to either of them. personally, i'd like to think change is possible, but things never seem to change, and when they do, it seems to take a very long time to change them.
@nukeemall123 Yes it is always inevitable but we can change how we percieve it. Life is a cycle, a constant balance. Change can now happen with the internet. Just type in "consciousness" into youtube search, or "peace movement" we can make a difference online, because this is the 2st time in history we are all connected to the world.
@Nobrakes Who are you to say that when there are children starving watching there family's die around them, when millions die in wars? When over 30 countries have nuclear weapons? We are about destroy ourselves, i can see how you would think you are right..but it is not true, if all human beings were truely happy, living in harmony with eachother and this planet with No reason to hate, live in fear or be divided from one another we would all live full lives. Fufillment is not joy.
I love the Beatles, and this album is truly timeless! All those Idiots out there that say that this album sucks, or that Ringo or any other member of the band sucked or that the "Jonas Brothers" or somebody else did a better job on one of these songs obviously don't have ears. :)
Suffering is an essential part of the human experience, without it we would only live half lives and never really appreciate the joy that rounds out the rest of all that is us.
the truth is that we each get (if we're lucky) one full human life to live through, at which time our life ends. We have religions and beliefs, but no assurance that a soul's existence goes on after death. Also true is that life tends to be a competition for finite resources, & that people tend to breed until all resources are consumed. However, humans are social creatures who balance competition with collaboration. Hopefully we can teach our children to work together.
@grevejp44 It has nothing to do with religious debates, there is an actual section in the book about the Beatles and the messages they channeled through there songs, all poets, philosophers, prophets etc have all been trying to say the same thing. This book gives it to you straight, reality. It will show you what is really happening.
@obscuredbyclouds1OO to stop suffering whe should listen to this and also to mozart , chopin and beethoven.very well.. but tell, putin, obama and gordon brown about it and they dont care.and they have the weapons the power and the land. if WE stop suffering its not enough it is THEM who should stop suffering also.

nukeemall123 3 months ago

I say it's time we stop the suffering in this world. Do you agree?
Look around you, everybody is suffering.. its true . But its not other people we should blame, its our own minds .
We need to change ourselves before we can change the world . How can we do this ? It couldn't be any simpler, Learn the truth of
life and death, change our own minds. Don't fool yourself, what else could it of possibly have been ? I can't give you a link ,
but Google ''truth contest'' , Read the Present.

@obscuredbyclouds1OO
Suffering is an essential part of the human experience, without it we would only live half lives and never really appreciate the joy that rounds out the rest of all that is us.

@obscuredbyclouds1OO
the truth is that we each get (if we're lucky) one full human life to live through, at which time our life ends. We have religions and beliefs, but no assurance that a soul's existence goes on after death. Also true is that life tends to be a competition for finite resources, & that people tend to breed until all resources are consumed. However, humans are social creatures who balance competition with collaboration. Hopefully we can teach our children to work together.

@obscuredbyclouds1OO please don't bring up that stuff with the beatles. bring up the beatles. we don't need religious debates.
grevejp44 2 months ago
@grevejp44 It has nothing to do with religious debates, there is an actual section in the book about the Beatles and the messages they channeled through there songs, all poets, philosophers, prophets etc have all been trying to say the same thing. This book gives it to you straight, reality. It will show you what is really happening.
